The room was perfectly centered in the spots we wanted to walk to. It was literally a 5 minute walk anywhere we need to go. The service was great and they compensated us anything we needed. The wife and I had a great stay here. This was one of the most affordable places to stay in Avalon and would totally recommend checking this spot out. When we arrived on Friday at 7:30, we initially booked the dolphin room (queen bed, pretty much most basic room) we were told they upgraded us to the Garden King bed Jacuzzi room for no additional cost. Service here was good and the room was comfortable. Our room came with a fridge, microwave and pretty much everything that we needed for our stay. Heater/AC worked well and the bed was pretty comfortable. No complaints + check in/check out was smooth. Location is perfect too, close to all the restaurants and tours! read more

We stayed in The Loft room. Since our last stay 2 years ago it has been upgraded both inside and out. We loved the room last time and love it even more now. Has all the amenties you need and is nice and quite. The staff, Amber and Michael, is super kind and helpfull and the location of the hotel is excellent. Walking distance to everything. We had such a lovely stay at Seacrest Inn, and I have to give a special shoutout to Amber, who made our experience smooth from the start. She reached out before we even arrived on the island and offered to store our luggage until the room was ready. This easily saved us over 100 dollars in locker rentals. That kind of thoughtful communication made a huge difference and set the tone for a wonderful trip. Amber was sweet, helpful, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. The location is absolutely unbeatable. It was a quick 5 minute walk from the ferry, and they held our bags until 4 o'clock which was perfect because our ferry left at 4:30. It was also only a 2 minute walk to the Pleasure Pier, 3 minutes to mini golf, 4 minutes to Vons grocery store, and about 10 minutes to snorkel at Lovers Cove. If you want to explore the casino or snorkel there as well, that was just a 12 minute walk. We really loved how central everything was -- we never needed a golf cart or shuttle. As for the room, the Seashell Room was much roomier and nicer than expected. The bed was comfortable, the space was clean, and the bathroom had a large spa tub with great water pressure and hot water. The complimentary shampoo and conditioner smelled amazing, and they even provided earplugs. We did not end up needing them because everyone at the hotel was quiet and respectful at night. We were on the ground floor with a private side entrance that led to a cozy patio area with tables and chairs where we could relax. Another unexpected perk was the rooftop access. We were able to use the rooftop space both before and after checkout. My boyfriend used it for stargazing at night and said it was absolutely beautiful. There is a table up there for meals, and it looks like guests are allowed to grill as well. Between the thoughtful staff, amazing location, great amenities, peaceful environment, and unique spaces like the rooftop and patio, this stay was absolutely worth it. I highly recommend the Seashell Room if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, and budget friendly place with charm. read more

My best friend and I visited Catalina for 5 days, and we LOVED the Seacrest Inn! We had originally booked a different room, but when we arrived, Michael was so accommodating and offered us a generous upgrade because the Sumner Cottage was vacant for the week. We adored the cottage! It had a lovely porch, a nice kitchen, bathroom, and two separate bedrooms. We were comfortable and enjoyed our time there. It was even super close to the grocery store! If you're looking for a good spot on the island that is also affordable, you should pick the Seacrest Inn. read more

Had the most pleasant stay the first weekend of this year, at the Seacrest Inn. And despite having to stay an extra night, due to canceled boat travel back to the mainland, I took advantage to meader and explore since one can't control Mother Nature. I had my room booked for almost a year (3/29/2023), this after, securing my Avalon 50 entry on 3/05/23, which put my mind at ease. I guess you can say I don't like to stress or feel rushed to find a place when it comes to destination races. Upon arrival, I was greeted and shown my room. Everything was exactly as described by others and quite comfortable. The only thing I would change, at least for the dolphin room, is to replace the mini fridge as it freezes everything you put into it. A mini fridge w/out freezer would be ideal to avoid the mishaps. 10/10, and despite the mini fridge, I'd stay here again. I really enjoyed my stay and and it was comfortable. read more

Very nice extremely clean small hotel/Inn in Catalina Island. Might be a best kept secret. The Inn keeper Michael is super nice and fun. Very organized and great communications from the minute of the reservation. I have nothing bad to say about the stay. So worth the savings in staying here instead of the bigger hotels. I stayed in the Captains room. It is up stairs you can request downstairs rooms if needed. The TV and Internet are not the best but not a deal breaker as the island is such a great vibe. Strongly recommend the Conservancy tour for 2 hours and Antonios Pizza !! And the coffee & cookie place in the market place is possible th best bagel and croissant breakfast EVER!! Carmel Rum coffee !! Even if you go for the day and the tour & food its a day you won't forget!! GREAT STAY!! read more

It's a small place but that's described already when you book the room for everyone complaining. The location is super close in terms of walking distance for the city and attractions but the best part of staying here was the desk help. She gave us advice on where to visit, gave a little room tour with instructions on how to use the amenities and even called us to let us know we could leave our bags at front when waiting to check in / able to leave them there while walking around after check out but waiting for our boat. There's access to a rooftop with a grill and seats that has a perfect view of the city and ocean and I would definitely come back just because of how amazing service was. :) read more

Had a lovely Mid-December 2020 stay. We were the only guest in the house and were upgraded to the Loft halfway through our stay. Michael at the front desk was very professional and friendly. Some people complain about the office closing at 4pm, but that wasn't an issue for us. Location is convenient to the waterfront and all that entails. The Von's grocery store and all dining is a very short walk away as well. We were originally in the Captain's Quarters. A little tight, but the bed was comfy, it felt clean and the jacuzzi right in the room is a bonus. The loft has much more space, including a nice sized kitchen area, faux fireplace, and a huge bathroom complete with separate shower & jacuzzi tub. The rooftop outdoor areas were aplenty, providing spectacular views of the main water area. The heating system worked well. No water pressure or toilet flushing issues either. This is NOT an ultra-modern place. Doesn't need to be. It has character with modern conviences, not unlike the island itself. Clean with sound COVID policies in place, such as housekeeping only coming if asked. This hotel was perfect for our romantic stay in Catalina. Sorry no pics of the Loft. I wa completely in bliss land by then. read more

5 stars for Amber at the front desk. She always greeted us with a friendly smile and had some great recommendations. We stayed in the Retreat Room...straight up the narrow flight of stairs, and into a small room with a "queen sized bed" that felt more like a full, a strong bleach smell (thank you, COVID), old furnishings (a shelf was lined with some funky astroturf material, wood paneling, rickety chairs) and a toilet that didn't flush well. The room rate was nearly $200, and we went off season, midweek. Definitely didn't think we got our money's worth. Unfortunately, we didn't sleep well due to the scratchy, hard sheets and and the noise off of 3rd Street. The TV had a flat screen (surprise) but was rather small, and only basic cable channels were available. Pros are location (conveniently near Vons, the harbor, Front Street), ice cold water in the front office, and Amber. Cons are all above, and that the front office is closed after 4 PM (no drinking water). read more

Our stay at the Seacrest inn was great! We arrived early (10am) but check in wasn't up until 4pm, previous to arriving they advised us we might be able to check in early if the room was available and it was! the walk from the ferry was only a 5 minute walk (no walk up a hill either) which was super convenient since we had our luggage's. We stayed in the wicker roses room, it was small but perfect for a getaway for a couple. The room has a heater/AC unit, iron/ironing board, microwave, mini fridge, TV/cable, hair blow dryer and an extra pillow and blanket. The place was CLEAN upon arrival, It even smelled clean when we first walked in. Be advised it's not exactly in a quiet area but we didn't mind as it does tend to quiet down in the night time. The roof has a deck that has chairs, tables & a BBQ/ grilling area, again it looked clean up there as well Everything is within a mile radius walk from the Inn, it took us maybe 20 min tops to get places that weren't exactly close to our stay. 10/10 would recommend and would definitely come back. BTW : these pictures were taken right before check out time so the place looks a bit messy :) read more

Seacrest Inn, conveniently near the harbor and near all the hot spots. In the corner of Clarissa Ave you will see a nice grey building next to "the big blue house". Everything was a smooth sail. Amber was nice and friendly, also helpful. 8 am she opens so the coffee will be made there if not there is a machine maker in your room. Third floor is balcony view of the Casino and pier, and it even has a grill and a fridge/freezer for ice and to hold groceries etc. 4 minutes away is a Vons so we stopped by there daily .. I wish they provide utensils on top also and not just in the office. Lobster trap and blue water grill restaurants are a must !! What I didn't like: the tv was too small for my eyesight and the position was way too high . And the bathroom smelled like plumbing and the toilet kept flushing recycling.. waste of water read more

I stayed here for the Avalon 50 Mile Ultramarathon. Our room was ready shortly after we stepped off the ferry. We stayed in the Mermaid room. The room was clean and comfortable. It was the perfect size for two. Michael was friendly and even gave us restaurant suggestions. He also stored our luggage on our final day before we boarded the ferry. Great place! read more

This is a charming, clean, and pleasant place to stay, and if your needs are basic, it's perfect. Amber is an exceptional host - friendly, helpful, willing to store luggage before check-in or after check-out. It's a charming old woody house with creaky stairs going up to the rooms (and there are not many). Modern it is not, but it's also not camping. My room was at the front of the building and it was kind of noisy during the day (mostly the unavoidable golf carts), but that wasn't a problem for me. And the evening was quiet. LOVED the big bed with clean crispy sheets, firm mattress and fluffy pillows. The bathroom was fine, with the best shower head I've had in any hotel. Wall A/C and ceiling fan were great and necessary. Nice little coffee maker, and mini fridge and some closet space. Didn't need the TV. Wi-Fi was solid. There's a beautiful roof deck as well. You can't beat the location. It's 1-10 walking minutes from literally everything. Somehow, I had never been to Santa Catalina, and only had one day. To me, Seacrest is the perfect place to really feel the history and charm of Avalon. I was so happy with it all. read more

I definitely recommend this wonderful little inn on Catalina. This historic Banning family home is a charming and more comfortable alternative to a hotel that reminds me a bit like a bed and breakfast. I found this on Hotels.com and got a great rate of $200/night, which is pretty competitive in Avalon. The best part is definitely the rooftop patio which has two levels including chairs, lounging couches, tables, two propane grills and great views of Avalon. My partner and I were up there several times during our recent stay and made some good friends as it seems lots of other couples were staying here. For the grills, bbq tools are provided. You just need to have your own foil or grill plate which you can buy at the Vons a few blocks over for very cheap; even the bbq tools at Vons if you wanted new ones were cheap. We were lucky to score the room on the side of the building which didn't share walls with other guests and was quieter. Some of the other guests said they heard a lot of street noise. Although you would hear golf carts driving around late into the night and early morning, I wasn't bothered by it as the earplugs that were provided were very useful. Plus, hearing those vehicles is a lot better than hearing LA street noise from real automobiles. Some of the other highlights of our stay: 1) Room was very clean and the bathroom areas were newly remodeled with beautiful counters and tiling. 2) Huge bathtub with spa jets for soaking. The bathroom even came with two bottles of bubble bath. 3) Mini refrigerator that worked well. 4) Air conditioning box and ceiling fan (we didn't use either as the weather was around 70-75 F degrees during our stay) 5) Off the main street of Avalon but a very short walk. I do not recommend staying directly on the main street which can get very loud with all the restaurants and bars 6) Friendly and helpful service by the staff, who stored our stuff in a locked room before/after check-in and check-out, gave us an extra bbq lighter, and called when the room was ready ahead of the 2PM guaranteed check-in time. Note that the office closes at 4PM so you have to check in before then. I would definitely recommend this place, especially to couples. People traveling to Catalina with like a small group of 3-4 people would enjoy hanging out on the rooftop patio together. read more

This was the absolute best hotel we've stayed in in a long time for so many reasons! It didn't matter that our room was I think the smallest one they have, it had a *super* comfortable bed with wonderful linens, nice towels, a lovely view out the window, a coffee maker & refrigerator and a nice bathroom with toiletries and a hairdryer hanging on the wall. And unexpectedly, when most places don't have it, we had a wonderful air conditioner! We didn't try the TV but the host demoed it for us and it looked like there were lots of channels. It was also completely quiet though we heard there was a family with children next to us when we were in the hallway. What made this place stand out so much was the incredibly friendly service. The host was amazing, holding our heavy luggage full of diving gear in the office and even letting us extend our checkout as they didn't have someone else in the room the next day. The other standout was the rooftop deck! There were multiple sections, one with a table & chairs and a nice sofa and amazing barbecue on top. We could have spent the whole day up there looking at the beautiful surrounding ocean and mountains! It's also SO conveniently located, very close to the ferry terminal and waterfront, but just far enough back into the residential areas to be quiet. Be sure to try the Lobster Trap restaurant right around the corner! It was our first trip to Avalon to dive, and we absolutely CANNOT wait to come back and stay at the Seacrest Inn!! read more

I stayed here for my birthday weekend, and it was a perfect landing point. The room was ready upon our arrival at 9 am, despite check-in time being 4 pm! Either way, guests are welcome to leave luggage in the office outside of their reservation times for safekeeping while they are exploring. The room was homey, clean, and well-kept, with nice bedding and comfy pillows. The bathroom has a spacious/ deep bathtub with a seat and a removable shower head, all very nice features for people who want to treat themselves to a little luxury! They have a policy of housekeeping by request so as to reduce waste, and I think that is very eco-conscious of them. Small refrigerator, microwave, and a tv with Sling in the room. One of the major selling points we loved about our stay was the rooftop amenities! They have two levels on the rooftop with plenty of seating and a couple tables, as well as a full grilling station (flat top and classic gas burner included) and grilling tools. We saved a ton being able to cook up so many meals back at the Inn, and then relax in the ambiance overlooking the city! The staff is caring and friendly, and are all very approachable. read more

It was cute but very old. The sink was updated but the shower wasn't. It was cozy and quiet, kind of like the rest of this town. There's not much to say. The service was good. We were walked to our room the garden room and the attendant showed us how everything worked. He also brought us some extra towels which was good because we had 3 people in a two person room . The roof top had a nice view and some comfortable chairs and tables for people to relax in. I also want to add that the manager of that hotel was super nice on the last day. He let us leave our luggage in his office while we went zip lining even after we checked out. The only main complaint is the old shower/bath. There are a number of rooms that seem all very different from each other so this review is specific to the garden room. read more

Giving a 3 bc the room was clean. But Michael gets a zero star for his customer service. The attendant, Michael, was the most horrible person. They asked us when we were landing so we asked if we could store our luggage before we left LA because we knew check in was at 4pm. They said yes and we might be able to check in early. As soon as I walked in, we were not greeted with a happy person, I wasn't even sure if that little office was the checking office. He looked up and rudely said no rooms are ready. We said okay but can we use the restroom and he snarled I don't have a public bathroom. I was shocked at his behavior, we asked a simple question. We asked if we could still leave our luggage and he started wailing his arms and rolling his head. We left our stuff and went on a bison tour. When we got back we popped in to see if we could check in early and instead of saying not yet, he went off again and said checkin is at 4pm and I said well then don't say hey you might be able to check in early. Just keep all checks In at 4pm. So, I asked him if he knew about how long bc we were thinking of eating but might not and he started wailing his hands again in the motion of get out and he said goooo no I have no idea how long it will take her to clean the room, go eat lunch Michael, then he rolled his eyes at me. If he is so miserable then he should NOT be working in a hospitality facility. He does not have any good customer service. Nor did he apologize at any time. Funny, he tried to be nice at 4pm when we were able to check in. read more

Would stay here again. My stay here was just one for the books. It was memorable, comfortable and convenient. Every time I'm at Catalina Island, I usually stay at the Catalina Boat House Hotel since they have hot tub and a kitchen but during my visit on the July 4th weekend, it was fully booked so I had to find an alternative. I booked through their online website and called the place to confirm and the lady who answered was prompt and helpful. Upon arrival, can I just say, this place did not disappoint me at all. First, it was closer to the dock and it was easier to find. Second, we came early and the lady, who I believe was the same person I spoke with on the phone, let us put our luggage in their storage so we can go around and enjoy ourselves first. Lastly, they also have a jet tub and a rooftop that is available for guests to use and take pictures. When I come back, I would love to stay here again. Cute simple hotel! My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay here, and loved how it felt like a cozy home. The man working in the front was extremely helpful and made us feel welcomed! (He was the only one there all 4 days that we stayed). We stayed in The Retreat room, and it had a mini fridge, microwave, and a two person soak ing tub! The only thing that we thought was weird was how there was no front door to the hotel.. we just assumed that maybe because the island is a safe place that there wasn't much security but other than that it was nice :) not too far from anything either! I do not understand why this place doesn't have better reviews. Here's what's wrong with the complaints I'm seeing: - "didn't have a DVD player". Seriously? Why are you watching DVDs in your hotel room on Catalina island?! Go out and explore the island or don't go on vacation. - "not fancy enough" if you're looking for fancy hotels go to Vegas. This is a quaint little island town and the seacrest fits into it perfectly. - "small rooms" yeah it's not a huge room but it's cute and it's all you should need for your stay in Catalina. Our room had a great hot tub that we thoroughly enjoyed during our stay. The seacrest also has a really awesome roof deck with possibly one of the best views in the middle of Catalina, and a great grill for people to use. The staff was very friendly and gave us a nice tour of the room when we checked in. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who isn't too stupid to work a hot tub. Once room was ready he sent us a text letting us know it was ready. Location could not be better as it is in walking distance to everything. Only a bloc could sway from ocean. Room was small, but quiet and very comfortable. Like stayIng in a room at grandmas house. Our only complaint would be the toilet. Did not flush and had to constantly re-flush for it to work.
