Wine & snacks delivered to room

Really great service, cozy room & nice stay overall. It's not ADA accessible, you have to go up some stairs and there's not an elevator. We stayed 1 night in the Santa Cruz room and it was very cozy. Wine & snacks delivered straight to our room, along with a lovely breakfast. They have free DVD rental with a nice selection to choose from. They also will store your luggage for free. The room had a fireplace & jet tub, the AC worked good. Overall I loved my stay here and it was a great choice for a romantic getaway! Communication was good. Service is great. We booked their spa package at the Catalina sea spa & I definitely recommend doing so!

I was torn to write a review because I don't want the entire world to know about the best kept secret on the island. This is the only place you need to stay in Catalina. The location is in the heart of everything. The rooms were clean and the beds were amazing. We loved they have beach chairs to use and are steps from a beach. John was so nice and exceeded expectations. The breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese were a fantastic touch. We can't wait to come back and stay again.

We stayed in the San Nicolas Suite for our mini-honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect! Smaller room, but we were on the island to explore and sleep (wink, wink) so didn't need an elaborate room. There was a nice little sitting area with a table and chairs overlooking the beach and boardwalk area. From our full-ocean-view room we could see the Casino, the Pier, the ocean waves, we could people watch and enjoy the twinkle lights that lit up at night with soft quiet music playing. It was so relaxing and sweet. We were welcomed to a flickering fireplace, light jazz music and a welcome appetizer spread on our table. Juan was absolutely the perfect host for our stay. We didn't lack for anything. He even helped us re-arrange our trip home. Such a kind and caring man. Our stay was really warm and bright blue skies, we enjoyed our early light breakfast and then explored as much as we could, came back to the room for the 3:00 snacks served in our room. We opened up the windows so we could feel the ocean breeze through our room and cool off before heading out to have an early dinner and go for a nice long walk. The boardwalk was quiet at night, we slept with our windows open and never had any surprise craziness below. We were there from Tuesday through Friday, so weekends may be a different story. Our stay at Snug Harbor included the trip over on the Catalina Express, which was really nice so we didn't have to try to coordinate. One less thing to worry about when planning a wedding and honeymoon. The price for the Inn was reasonable and the location was perfect and centrally located to everything we wanted to experience. Please please please give Juan our gratitude for his fantastic hospitality. The entire staff was warm and welcoming though. We WILL be back! XOXOXO

My wife and I spent our Anniversary weekend in the San Nicolas room. The view is amazing and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The evening wine and snacks were great and we couldn't have asked for a better stay; we'll certainly be back next year.

    View from San Nicholas room

Cozy San Nicholas room with excellent view and a super comfy bed. It was quiet, the fireplace with a switch was delightful, the TV huge, the jetted tub a treat, and Johnny was very accommodating. Hop skip and a jump to everything I wanted. Not a full service hotel but the evening wine and snacks and the breakfast carrot bread, yogurt, coffee, etc was very welcome.

Breakfast fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, a loaf of blueberry bread, V8 juice, milk and coffee.

This is a five star hotel experience . Amazing views of the beach while you have complimentary breakfast. Staff very friendly and was able to hold our luggage before and after our stay. It's pretty hard to walk around carrying everything if you arrive earlier or need to check out but your ferry isn't ready to leave yet. Food was great and very clean comfy room.

Our room was the one on the corner. Super cute.

We booked a trip to Catalina for my birthday and found this cute hotel to stay at. It was very clean, cute, and centrally located...three of my favorite things. The workers were all very nice and helpful. We were able to check in early which was great but if you cant check in early they are flexible and will allow you to drop your luggage off unit check in. We stood in the Santa Catalina Room which was perfect, it was a corner room with beautiful harbor views. While we were there we were able to watch a concert from our window. The hotel provided a beautiful breakfast with granola, yogurt, fresh baked bread, coffee, oj, and mill. It was a perfect start to our day. They also brought us daily wine with cheese meat and crackers which I thought was a nice touch. Since they don't have turndown service because of covid they also come by and bring you chocolates and water. We loved everything about this place and will definitely return!

We had a lovely time at Snug Harbor Inn. We celebrated my birthday. They let us check in early which was awesome. Lots of special touches to make everything nice. And the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was perfect, delicious coffee, warm poppy seed bread, orange juice, granola and fresh fruit. I loved the location, sometimes it nice to be walking distance to the beach, shopping and great restaurants. Our favorite restaurant was the Lobster Trap. Highly recommend!

What a hospitality! We did not expect this type of compation and problem solving, a true representative of Hotel Metropole. Now the pros: Location is amazing, navigation around the hotel or around it is perfect, close to everything, especially the breakfast shop on presmises and of course customer service. The room was exceptionally clean, I saw the service ladies actually mopping the floors after vacancy of other rooms. cons: second floor rooms overlooking the courtyard, get loud because of the shops. Their "Deluxe" rooms do not deliver the views or comfort promised. We lasted one night and fled to the Atwater, where we immediately got a proper family room. The contrast was shocking. Management's response was a polished non-apology that called it a simple "mix-up" while offering to waive fees as a favor after ruining our trip. This was repeated incompetence. Do not book here. Looking out over the ocean and the beautiful surroundings of Catalina (including the famous Catalina Casino) every morning and evening on the lobby balcony was something my family and I loved doing together. Other guests from the hotel also come out to look at the views, and it's a great time to say hi to your neighbors. Our room was beautiful--very clean, tastefully decorated, and felt both elegant and comfortable. The fireplace in our room was a great touch, as well as the ice cold A/C! There was a large flat screen, as well as mini fridge in our room. The room was very well maintained and taken care of. The hotel we stayed at was nice, but it did have some drawbacks. There was only one elevator, so we had to rely on the steep stairs to get in and around the building. We booked a Classic King room, which was cute but quite limited in space. At 180 square feet, my husband and I had to be cautious about giving each other enough room to move around. To make matters worse, when we checked in, the linens on the bed had bloodstains, which was really off-putting. I had to call the front desk to request clean sheets, and it was a hassle for both of us, especially since we were exhausted. The housekeeping staff arrived close to 9 PM, and it took them some time to replace all the linens with clean ones. The room amenities were also limited. We had a mini fridge, a flat-screen TV, a hair dryer, and a small vanity chair, along with two complimentary splits of Prosecco on the first day, which my husband enjoyed. However, the last night raised concerns about the hotel's safety and security. Someone played a prank on us by knocking on our door but not answering. We called the front desk twice to report the incident, but security was unavailable to check the CCTV footage. My husband and I felt unsafe because we had no idea who was knocking. Brian, the front desk staff member on duty, was prompt in keeping us updated on his communication with security and the hotel manager. All boats to and from Catalina Island were cancelled on 2 days of my visit, forcing other guests to change their travel plans. I ended up being the sole guest for all 3 nights of my stay here! With some whispers of Mt Ada being haunted (but not as many as Banning House Lodge in Two Harbors), I was a bit concerned, but fortunately had no paranormal experiences. To briefly review Mt Ada's history, it was once the Catalina home of William Wrigley Jr. and family, of chewing gum and Chicago Cubs fame. He was instrumental in putting Catalina "on the map", and his descendants still own the Catalina Island Company, which runs Mt Ada, Hotel Atwater, Pavilion Hotel and Banning House Lodge, as well as other businesses. All my stays at Mt Ada have been with the Company, although it was previously run as a private B&B. Mt Ada still runs as a B&B, as opposed to a hotel. It's a pricey stay but has many many perks that justify the expense. These include transportation to and from the boat or helicopter terminals, use of a golf cart throughout your stay, daily made-to-order breakfast and lunch, pre-breakfast continental breakfast, afternoon wine/cheese/charcuterie, 24-hour butler's pantry with snacks like gelato, chips, cookies and popcorn plus alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, discounts on Island Company tours and activities. Currently there are about 4 main people interacting with guests at Mt Ada, plus "behind the scenes" kitchen and housekeeping staff. My past reviews have mentioned a stay here is more like a visit to a home, as opposed to a hotel. There will be times when you may not see any staff (especially at night). But Pierre, Liz, Tim and Yoli (Yollie?) work their hardest to accommodate guest needs--they are the chauffeurs, front desk, waiters, luggage handlers, concierges, etc. I applaud them all. One of Mt Ada's pluses is its location on the hill (Mt Ada) above Avalon Bay, even above the main Bay viewpoint that all the rental golfcarts stop at (traffic jams are common here). It's quite peaceful, although in busy times the noise from "downtown" does carry uphill. Mt Ada has 6 rooms. The room I booked was the Grand Suite, Mr. Wrigley's former bedroom. It's the largest room, with a separate living and bedroom, a bathroom with a separate shower and tub, and a large terrace above the first floor terrace. It has a fireplace, as do 3 other rooms, and a raised bed that requires stairs to access, as does one other room. The living room has an antique "radio" that is seen in photos with Mr. Wrigley. There are radio stations hand-written on it; I was appalled to see "graffiti" defacing this historic relic. The terrace is fabulous, but alas the weather prohibited much use; I feared the high winds would blow the cushions on the chaise lounges over the railing. Even the dining tables on the first floor terrace were stored; in more temperate weather it's the loveliest place to enjoy breakfast or lunch. The breakfast and lunch menus have some new items and some old faves. Once again a fabulous and peaceful stay. Thanks again to all the staff. With the Pavilion Hotel reopening soon, Mt Ada may be the next property to undergo renovations. I hope it does not lose its charm or homey character.

The afternoon they place a very nice charcuterie, the morning they place coffee just outside the grand suite, with OJ, champagne, decaf coffee and hot water and warm, freshly baked muffins. I'm looking forward to coming back here again. Hopefully for our anniversary or my bday. It's apparently very difficult to book for July 4. The views of the island here is phenomenal.
