Making our chocolate shells
Bridget B.

Overall had a great experience at the chocolate making class. It was fun to make designs and channel your inner creative - something not many of us do anymore with our busy schedules! The 3 hour class includes many lessons about chocolate including where cacao beans grow, the harvest process, and what happens once the beans are roasted. You spend more time in the lessons than the actual chocolate making. I enjoyed the class and definitely created some of the best chocolate I've ever had. Jim really cares about this business and you can taste the love in the finished product.

Truffles, maybe pistachio, fudge and caramel. Maybe not.

Lovely little chocolatier, with a nice variety of truffles and bonbons. The gal at the counter was very patient and set our choices aside where I grabbed a photo of some. I tried the dark chocolate with salted caramel and think it was good but too much caramel. I should have gotten a cream center instead. Husband had raspberry and chocolate fudge filled, and our friends had a strawberry cream and a pistachio flavor. All very tasty and not super small bites. We sampled five pieces, for four adults. It was just under three ounces and subtotaled $16. Plus tax and tip, dessert for four people was under $20. I would say this is fine for a special occasion but I wouldn't make it a habit!

We did a private group of 4 people for the chocolate truffle making class at Seabreeze. We learned how to paint beautiful designs into the molds and the process of how chocolate is made. One of my favorite parts of the class was tasting chocolate from different origins and trying to identify the flavor profiles. We got to mix and flavor our own ganache for the filling. The best one our group made was raspberry and almond. You each get 21 take home chocolates plus the extra ganache. Overall it was a fun experience and easy for my 92 year old grandma to participate in. The chocolate for the shells is already prepared in the tempering machine and I do wish we got to participate more in the process besides decorating and flavoring.

They transform quality cacao beans into fun bon bons in different flavors as well as handcrafted chocolate bars. They even have their machine on display right as you enter. I really enjoyed the Dubai bar filled with pistachio creme, tahini, chopped pistachios, and kadyif. They ran out of the full size so I got the one they had and it was pretty good. I've had their solid chocolates and bon bons and they have unique flavors that I liked. They also offer chocolate making classes which is something I am interested in and especially when it's to support local businesses.

Chocolate making class with about 12 students

Our group booked a chocolate making class for our kids ages 6-7 on a Saturday afternoon. There is a 90 min class and chocolate making class that is available for about 12 students. When we arrived there are 2 long tables and chairs available only for the students (all kids). If parents accompanied kids, then they would need to stand. Please note that this shop is already tiny and space is very limited. Kids would need to wash their hands prior to taking a seat. The class was very educational and fun. The girls enjoyed the chocolate making process and the host was very informative of the process and how where chocolate comes from. The talk was about 20 mins and some of the younger kids were staring off into space and yawning so keep that in mind for kids who cannot sit still or the attention span is not very long. The kids made their own designs for one candy bar and colored a photo for an Oreo cookie. It was a cool process to see how these chocolates are made. Because it was the holiday season, the constant flow of customers was crazy which made space even more limited. The chocolates are expensive (chocolate bar is $12) so keep that in mind if you decide to come here for delicious chocolates. Also, it appears they specialize in dark chocolate so if you're looking for milk or white then you probably won't find it here. They do have Dubai chocolate which costs more than your standard chocolate and I did see some customers come in to buy them for Christmas. The employees and owner are wonderful and were very patient with the kids. Such a fun thing to do! This class books quickly and oftentimes booked out a couple months so sign up early! Our class lasted an hour and 15 mins which was perfect because they were ready to eat their chocolates! Located in the Pavilions shopping center to the right of the mall. Plenty of free and ample parking!

Owner and craft chocolatier Jim's retirement/passion project, Seabreeze specializes in dark chocolate (my fave!) and is currently San Diego's only chocolate factory and retail shop, sourcing cacao beans directly from farmers to ensure quality, sustainability, and fair compensation. The end result is utterly fantastic. In addition to a wide selection of bonbons, truffles, bars, spreads, and more, this place offers both public and private chocolate-making classes either during or after store hours depending on your preference. Can't wait to bring my friends here for one suh-weet girls' night!

Small chocolate shop in Carmel Valley with handcrafted chocolates and hot chocolate! We got a box of various chocolates to try and were not disappointed. Good place to purchase unique chocolate gifts.

Today I took my family for an afternoon chocolate truffle decoration day. This experience was for my wife for her birthday but wanted to bring the kids. It was truly a fun time. Over 2 hours of decorating and learning about how to make truffles. This experience was great for kids. Kept them entertained for the entire time. I have 2 boys 5,7. They hung in there and had a great time. Mel helped us and she made the time ever so fun. I recommend this for anyone. It was a great time for our family of 5. Thank you Seabreeze and Mel for a great time.

Seabreeze is a small business whose owner Jim started making chocolate as a hobby. Now he has this store where they practice the art of making all natural high quality chocolate from scratch - meaning starting with cocoa beans. It was extremely impressive to see such a pure form of this process in person. They're constantly making chocolate and the sights and smells of the process are enlightening. They also offer hands-on chocolate making classes for a very reasonable price. Worth a stop to see what's going on and sample some chocolates.

These chocolates are so fresh! I've been here twice already and the owner is so personable and nice. You can even ask for a demo! I got to see and learn how chocolate is made. He only sells dark chocolate l, which is my favorite kind. I love all the different flavors and varieties. There were some glow in the dark ones, a charcuterie kind, chocolate houses, and ornaments! Hot chocolate samples and chocolate making classes are also available as well. For my box, I chose matcha, toffee, salted caramel, peanut crunch, passionfruit infused, lavender, black sesame praline, earl grey, and chai. Hubby opted for magnolia brandy, horchata espresso, habanero, blood orange, pistachio praline, hazelnut dark, bourbon caramel, bourbon infused solid, and black bottom. Some of the fillings were liquids, which is not what I prefer, so the next time I asked for less liquidy ones haha. Overall, a great place to get some of the best chocolates for yourself or as a gift!

Came here for a chocolate making class. It was a great experience. Very educational and the chocolates were excellent. One thing I really enjoyed about this premium chocolate is this is not exposed to the lead and arsenic other chocolates may have. Something I learned in the class.

Food: Is chocolate food? Regardless, I've been searching for the best hot (not lukewarm, not cold) truly HOT not McDonalds scorching, it's going to scar you, but Starbucks hot, anyway, I ordered the mexican/cinnamon hot chocolate and was very chocolaty and rich. Iit was lukewarm, although, the girl did say, if it wasn't hot, she could put it in the microwave, but I was already in my car & didn't feel like going back. I tasted the chocolate in a jar spread with a cracker and that is super yum! Service: AMAZING, professional, friendly, great attitude! Ambiance: Great store with beautiful chocolates, great for gifts and more items to try!

Tastes like a pistachio Kit Kat so good 10/10!!

For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

We politely asked if it would be possible to purchase a small cup of fruit , even just a couple strawberries cut up, because one child in our group cannot have sweets due to very strict dietary restrictions . Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. This place has been going downhill , management for this place needs to step up .
