Such an amazing staff with affordable pricing and clean atmosphere! Everyone is amazing, but as far as a pedicure, Amanda is my favorite!! She is very gentle, but also gives a great massage!! We go about once every 6-8 weeks for something... and they have always been exceptional!! read more

There are 2 quality professional nail technicians at this location and I made a huge mistake not requesting one. I just got the worst mani-pedi of my life. I went in with natural long nails that needed a trim/file/clean up and came home with nails cut and filed to the quick. It was too late by the time the inexperienced tech had cut off 2 nails. The guys that runs the spa is so rude that I didnt feel comfortable saying anything - he had already rolled his eyes and made comments to the tech in their language after I said twice that I didn't want gel. Only go to this salon if you can see Amanda or her husband - better to avoid altogether if you want a quality experience. read more

SO bad. Asked for a french pedi- very thin. Owner said if it's thin no one can see it. And refused. Also asked for shorter nails and he also refused. He was very rude and bossy. Twilight zone. read more

I have been going to Sea Star Nails since moving to CHS in 2017--and always bring my daughters in when they are visiting. However, my visit on July 15th will be my last. When I checked in I told them I needed a "repair to strengthen" a cracked nail and a basic pedicure. A tall thin older man (have seen but not dealt with every time I have been in) pulled up a chair to start my pedicure. In between watching the the World Soccer Cup he rushed through my pedicure and when he asked for my polish selection --I mentioned that I need a repair, as the nail was lifting on one side. He said he didn't do acrylic and I asked if he could trim it and he said now. Within 15 minutes he had hastily applied 2 coats of polish and had moved to the lady next to me. When I realized he was fully engrossed in her pedicure I asked when if he had applied a top coat and he said yes. I challenged him since I knew he hadn't and he said, "I am letting it dry first." He scooted over to apply the topcoat after his first lie and I said " could you do a second topcoat" and he said no. I was in total disbelief when I left without leaving a tip for the first time in my life. I could not believe the way he had treated me. I texted the number taped by the register to contact if I was not satisfied . I explained the situation and was told "to stop by and he could refund what I paid for the pedicure. I replied the next day that I would appreciate having his name and he didn't reply. If you don't provide your name I will have to explain what happened to me in an online review. His reply was "go ahead and do it. I'm not paying for a review." I will never set foot in Sea Star Nails again. BUYER BEWARE. read more

I came in for a pedicure and a refill on my SNS tip nails. The girl doing my nails asked if I wanted them any shorter and I said just a little bit she cut them much shorter than I wanted so I asked her if we could do it longer. From that point she had an attitude towards me the whole time. I could see her roll her eyes anytime I asked her to change the shape or length. I ended up leaving with nails that are way longer than what I wanted and one hand longer than the other because I felt uncomfortable asking her to change it again. The men that worked there kept making odd comments like the guy that did my pedicure saw a tattoo that I have on my ankle and said "nice choice you know that's on you forever." another man said "your nails are so long. How do you work with them?" It was not a friendly or welcoming atmosphere. I did not feel comfortable asking for what I wanted. read more

I came in at 4:00 pm there were 6 customers being helped. I was seated and my feet sat in cold water. The nail tech I think either had a cold or influenza. Today was a first for me, I actually screamed out in pain as my toes were being clipped. This lady was either blind or just didn't care about being there. I do not recommend this establishment. There is enough competition in the area. I have no pics to show but I saw blood when I got home. read more

This is my favorite place for a pedicure. They can always get me in pretty quickly no matter the day or time. Massage chairs are so comfortable. They offer a drink during the pedicure. They always do a great job and are very friendly. Well priced. My son loves to join me and sit in the kids chair and get a kids pedi with me. Highly recommend for a good nail salon on James island! read more

First time at the new Sea Star, and I am really impressed. It's beautiful and clean. They immediately offered a glass of wine which is always a good sign. The pedicure was really good, but they are definitely trying to upsell, upsell. I went with the $65 most expensive pedicure and they still wanted to convince me to do the paraffin and gel! I was pressured into doing the $65 pedicure and really didn't like the continued sales tactics. The other thing that bothered me was an employee chilling in the pedicure chair watching videos etc on his phone with no headphones. I want to relax at the spa and that doesn't help with relaxation. It also seems very unprofessional. I do really love the new look and the pedicure, but I think I'll go back to my tried and true favorite nail salon where I can enjoy my wine, not be pressured and still get a good pedicure in peace. read more

I got my nails done here 04/03. By 04/05 i had already broken a nail. I came back on Monday and offered to pay to get it fixed. They let me leave without shaping or curing the gel polish on my nail. The attitude was very much like they didn't care. I had to then go to a second salon to get my nail fixed. Will not be returning which stinks because I am a regular customer at this nail salon. read more

Best nail salon!! Come here whenever I am in the area and they always are super nice and do a great job!

went in to get a manicure as I have finally grown out my nails all summer. the girl asked if I wanted them more even with a few being longer than others. she proceeded to chop all of my nails off of my left hand. no nails left. I was visibly upset. she said nothing. I asked for the owner to let him know what had happened. again he didn't say a word, no apology, nothing. heading on vacation this week so I guess I'm going to be finding a place to put fake nails on my left hand. STAY AWAY from this salon! read more

If you're looking for a place to relax and feel pampered, go elsewhere. I have never felt so rushed and cattle-like when getting my nails done. The guy doing my nails did an okay job, but rushed me to go dry at the drying station so he could start on another customer. I asked him to fix the top coat and shape my nail and he came over to the drying station to finish rather than doing it with the rest of my nails. Then he slapped a bunch of oil on my fingers and told me to rub it in. I felt like the least important person in the salon. AND I made an appointment ahead of time. $45 for a SNS dip powder mani, $5 extra for tips (if you want them), no cash discount. Will not be returning, or recommending Sea Star Nails. read more

Love my colorful French tips. I got gel nails and Lee did a very nice job I think! They handled my mani pedi with care and did not cut me when filing or trimming. (Some places leave you raw!) It was quiet and relaxing too. I didn't get a special package or elaborate massage, but I might try one next time because the basic massage was nice. I'll be back and bring my daughter next time! read more

Worst manicure I've ever received Try to work out a solution with the manager, and there was no compromise. He would not fix my nails unless I came in one by one for each chipped nail. I think they're mixing something in with their gel polish to make it last longer. They put it on way too thick my manicure that I paid $80 for lasted about 20 hours. Went back to get a nail fixed got home and it chipped. I don't even have a hands-on job. read more

Do not come here. They are rude and do not listen. Their prices are very high for the quality. After a week my nails chipped. I went back and got them to fix it. They asked did you get this done here. I said yes it was the same woman that had me sit in the chair for 20 minutes. I wanted to put a nail art sticker on my nails. They fixed it but 2 days later it chipped again after that I went to a different salon and had my nails redone read more

I started getting SNS here and have had several places through the country do it and no other place is as good. I have and will keep coming back! Super friendly and communicative. My nails never grew before and now they do with SNS! I love it! I don't know what I was doing before with that horrible gel polish. My manicure will last about 3 weeks and still look fabulous! They can do just about anything and have a fantastic and consistently growing color portfolio. They do a fantastic job and their customer service is lovely. They offer wine, beer or water upon arrival. Enjoy! I haven't had a bad nail tech since going there. The pedicure has improved over time and they really listen to customer suggestions. The hot stone pedicure will bring your feet back to life! I love spending a Thursday afternoon @ Sea Star relaxing. Scott and his team are the best! Made a point to try this spot out after my regular salon had let me down on the past few visits. Unfortunately, I was let down here too. The day after I had my OPI gel nails done my left thumb chipped substantially. I was working for the next few days straight and did not have time to go back and say something/have it fixed-- had to count it as a loss. But now, after only a week, the tips of my nails have began to chip and fade too. This was the lowest quality gel manicure I have received in Charleston. read more

NEVER RETURNING. I've been here quite a few times but this was THE worst and most expensive gel mani/pedi I've received. I get the same service each time I go and yet the price is never the same. The staff is not welcoming. My last visit caused my cuticles to peel so much and I have bruises on my legs from how hard she massaged them during the pedi. I had to ask her to stop. They rushed my service and did not listen to me. My nail cracked a day later. I returned to get it fixed and they did not want to repair it. Not a single apology. They yelled at me and insisted my nails were acrylic (they're natural). It was a true hassle to get that one nail fixed and they didn't even fix it. The polish cracked AGAIN! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. First few months of going here the service was wonderful. Beautiful, clean, & they did a great job on Mani & Pedi. Then the last two times they did my mani while I was getting a pedicure which was not only extremely awkward & inconvenient for me, it robbed me of my time to relax & unwind (and yes I asked them not to). These last two times, they cut both my fingers and toes and proceeded to spray alcohol over the cuts. The last time I went was actually THE last time I will ever go, there were a group of female workers sitting at the end of the row in pedicure chairs making fun of my daughter asking her if she wanted a haircut and asking her if she wanted her eyebrows done and laughing at her. So unprofessional and hurtful given we've spent over $1k there over the last 6 months. The owner never intervened and just laughed with them. read more

Well I've been here three times. The first two were just okay experiences. This third time, I've gotta laugh because it was so bad. Not only did they cut the skin on my toe and make it bleed the entire pedicure, when I asked for a Mickey to be painted on my big toe for my Disney trip the pic is what I got. It's so bad I honestly can't help but laugh at this point. Now I've gotta go somewhere else and pay for a polish change when I just wasted $50 on a pedicure. I am also a little surprised at how high the reviews are. I've been looking for my go to nail salon since I moved here. I was told by people in my neighborhood that this place was amazing. I did not have the same experience. It was packed, and even though I made an appointment, I had to wait 30 minutes. I got a full set with gel polish. The guy rushed - kept forgetting what nail he was working on because he was talking to the other staff. My polish was warped. The acrylic was SO thin on the nail bed and thick on the tip. However, he was super nice. 1 week and 2 days later a nail just popped off. After reading other reviews about feeing rushed as well, I think this might not be for me. read more

I didn't have an appointment & walked right in with my sister & her little girl. We were greeted immediately, picked out our polish & our pedicures started right away. Communication was not an issue & the prices are great. The nail salon was very clean & smelled good. No headaches from bad fumes! I don't live here anymore but I visit with my family often.
