Worst pedicure that I ever had. The older woman did my pedicure and I had to ask her three times to trim my toenails straight so that they wouldn't be crooked. She was also very unfriendly Two days after my pedicure I had to go back in and get a retouch on one toe. They also do not offer drinks to everyone. Dropped in for a quick pedicure now that the weather is consistently warm and those open-toed shoes are a staple of the daily ensemble. Matter-of-Fact, I usually just drop in here and always have good luck with getting seen right away. The staff are all very nice and professional. They've had a little bit of a make-over inside and I like it! The tubs are lined with a plastic insert and supplies are all sanitized. They wear gloves too so it feels very clean, unlike some salons of the past of which I have heard horror stories. They have a menu of services, but the pricing is all very reasonable. They seem to really take pride in the work they do and service they provide to their customers. Of course each station has the massage chairs. This makes my day every time. Such a small gesture, but it feels like such a luxury while I'm getting my toes did. ;-) This salon is in the Merchant's Village Shopping Centre at the intersection of Harborview and Folly Roads. Convenient location with plenty of parking. They're open until 7 pm too so that works well for my schedule. The pedicures only take about 30 minutes, so it's an easy lunch break as well. This has become my "go-to" nail salon due to the convenience, friendly staff, clean environment, and quality work they do. Maybe you'll consider them too. read more

Not a bad place to get your nails did! This was the first stop during a recent mother-daughter weekend in Charleston. It was surprisingly quiet on a Friday afternoon, and my mom and I were able to get seated for mani-pedis right away. They have a great selection of nail polishes with your typical OPI and Essie brands. The salon has recently been remodeled with it looking more "glitzy" inside. They have a large chandelier and nice leather pedicure chairs. My nail tech was super friendly and professional during the entire process. We just got simple, no frills mani-pedis, but they do everything from gel to acrylic to SNS here. Between the convenient parking, the professional staff and the decent prices, I would definitely come back to Magic Nails. read more

My friend just got her nails done here, had shown the guy a reference picture below, apparently he didn't want to do the design and instead just made them black and red which is obviously completely different from what she asked for. She's extremely unhappy with her nails as well as being overcharged. $120 dollars for plain black/red nails with a coffin shape seems a bit overpriced especially considering it's nothing she had asked for. Don't bother coming here unless you want ugly nails. read more

Went in for the first time and within the first 10 minutes I get my toe cut by a file. It's a deep cut and painful but they kept insisting to paint it and I refused. I asked him just to finish taking my nail polish off and I would leave. After that they still charged me $20. Good customer service would've just let me leave. I would not recommend this place. And of course the owner responses and blames the customer. She did not finish the pedicure because I wouldn't let her paint my toes with an open cut on it. read more

Perhaps I should have looked at the reviews before I decided to get a gel manicure here. Luckily, I happened to come in on a 15% off day (Tuesdays & Wednesdays), so I don't feel quite so bad about paying for what I received. I've had literally hundreds of gel manicures in my life & this one ranks as one of the worst. The place itself is really nice looking & new, the employees were pleasant enough.. Now about the gel manicure.. I only get Opi gel, I prefer the colors and tend to think it's a bit higher quality than the competitors & doesn't peel or chip easily. I picked an Opi color, something cute called "I Can Hardly Pink," perfect for spring, Easter egg pink with a shimmery undertone. In my experience, when you get a gel manicure, the nail polish color used is in fact a gel polish. I'm not convinced that happened this time around. After the buffing, a clear coat was put on, to just barely cover any roughness from the buffing & under the lighting device my nails went-now usually, after this process, I would have two (or three coats depending on how light the color) of gel color polish, under the lights per coat & then a top finishing coat with one more go under the lights to seal the gel finish. Instead, a clear (almost gummy) gel coat was put on my nails before the color. Judging from the Opi bottle used, it was Not an Opi gel polish but a Regular Opi polish. As a result, the color is uneven on several of my nails & particularly on my right hand, where you can see my nails through the polish. My cuticle beds look great but my polish is really uneven as are my nail lengths. I was under the impression that the technician was new & perhaps practice will make perfect. I unfortunately will not be returning & will look for other options in my new hood or go back to the nail place in West Ashley that does a bang up job. read more

This was the worst pedicure I've ever gotten. The nail tech rushed through it and was rough with the whole process. We got there at little after opening at 10am and were the first customers. The place was empty and I called the day before to make an appointment so I'm not sure why she rushed. She was going so fast, she didn't realize she cut my cuticle really deeply. On two of my toes! Like, a chunk of my skin. I didn't realize until I looked down after it tingled a bit after she got up and walked away. I could see nothing but pink and when I yelped out, she put pressure on it and said, "I'm sorry! I love you." She was rough with that too because she hurt me even worse and it made me even more irritated. That was the moment I should've just stopped and not let her finish, but I had an event to go to and no time to go anywhere else. So I let her finish after she cleaned the area and kept going. She did a great job with my gel manicure though. When I got to the register, the amount was different than I thought it would be and realized she gave me a $2 discount. So cutting two of my toes was only worth $2? The crazy thing is, I've been to this nail salon before and never had an issue. I haven't been here in a while but I know I'm not coming back. read more

My favorite nail salon in Charleston! They are so friendly and do the best job! I think everyone does a wonderful job but I always go to Tyler because he knows exactly how I like my nails done and the shape and always make sure they look perfect before I leave. I also love how Timmy does my toes they last for so long! The staff is very nice and accommodating. I have been to almost every salon in Charleston and could not believe how rude other nail salons can be. I went to Magic Nails to get my nails done for my friend's wedding. I told the manicurist that I wanted a basic mani/pedi. Pedicure was ok, but I was scammed into getting something called dips WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! She asked about acrylics and gel, but I declined. I just wanted a basic french manicure. Ended up paying for $85 for their mistake... Worse, my nails are ruined. She told me the layers she was putting on were vitamins for my nails. Clearly not, as my nails are all torn apart and what's left is paper thin. They don't know what they're doing. We had a party of 8 and nobody was happy with the experience. I live pretty close to this salon, which is why I go there. The salon itself is very nice, and if you're lucky enough to get Tyler to do your nails, you're set. Unfortunately I can not say the same for some of the other employees. I went with a friend to get a gel manicure today and it looks like someone painted my nails with their eyes closed. I am very displeased. Tues and Weds are 15% off, which is great, but I would rather pay 15% extra than walk out with nails that look like mine currently do. Luckily Tyler is a wonderful owner and stands by his satisfaction guarantee, and has offered to re-do my nails, which I truly appreciate and which has solidified my loyalty to Magic Nails. read more

I have never written a yelp review before today, and like one of the other reviewers, I have a mixed review about this place. I was a walk in appointment looking for a pedicure and a SNS manicure. My pedicure was great, the technician very nice. Then I was with another one for my manicure... Granted I had never gotten an SNS manicure before, but had heard good things from my friends, so wanted to try it (for those that don't know, SNS is a type of gel manicure where they dip your nails into the color). I don't think my experience is normal for this type of manicure, I think it was all about the technician. She was awful. I can barely type today because my fingers are so beat up. She totally tore off my cuticles to the point where they were bleeding, and her file was so sharp that I have multiple lacerations to the edges of my fingers. The worst part was, I was obviously bleeding and in pain, and she seemed to either not notice or not care. I had to ask for her to use a paper towel to help stop the bleeding. Needless to say, although my pedicure was great, I will not be coming back here due to my fear of having that same woman do my manicure. read more

I waited longer than it took for my pedicure. I was not asked what pedicure I would like to have, and I wanted the highest one. I spent all of 15 min getting pedicure...cut nails down, used pumice stone, one lotion and hot towels, and quick paint which isn't the best. I paid $30 and did not get services described in either of the two $30 pedicure packages. I will not go back, as I tried them because I was told they were awesome. Today I figured out different. After 7 years of loyalty to this salon, the service/product has officially gotten so bad I will not be going back. Through the new owner a few years ago, I'd for sure say the service dropped from a 5 to a 3, but still alright enough for me to go once a month, at least. There's one younger girl that still does a great job. However, after my experience today, I'll never go back. They always look at you when you walk in as if you're bothering them, then they talk about you. Today, it was a young guy, my pedicure wasn't great and the water was cold, but all forgivable offenses. Then, my typical shellac manicure with the same color pink started, he couldn't paint inside my nails and it was thick and sticky. After a half hour of continuing to paint, he let my hands go said something to the manager and walked out back slamming the door likely to go smoke (since new owner always smells like cigarettes inside). Then they forced me to use an electric drill which isn't good for your nails despite me objecting. He tried to fix it but it was still lumpy, thick, and looked like a small child with mittens painted them. The best comes next, I was charged full price for both services and told to come back another time to have it fixed. (Side note, at this point I look close at my toes to reveal the mittens child had also painted those). I paid despite being very disappointed with the service, see the picture, decide for yourself! Rudest women I have ever encountered at a nail salon. I was in town visiting my sister and decided to treat myself. When I stated the service I wanted she misunderstood what I wanted and got mad and started throwing stuff around and talking about me to the other staff. What should have been a relaxing time was super stressful. I apologized for the miscommunication multiple times but she wouldn't acknowledge me. Dont go here!!!! Do yourself a favor.
