    Food, service, ambiance

Food was delicious! Service and ambiance was great! Place was full... really don't understand the bad reviews! Would definitely recommend!!

Came here at night time for drinks and dessert. We were able to get a table with a fire but did have to wait a bit. The drinks were all very good. They have a lot of great cocktails to choose from along with beer and other options. For dessert, they were all very cute. We decided to try all 4 of the desserts that they offered. I enjoyed the lemon tart the most. The other desserts were: one that was chocolate mousse with peanut butter, vanilla cheesecake in an egg roll, and raspberry vanilla cheesecake in the shape of a mushroom. Definitely a fun spot to hang out with friends or for a date night as it's located along the water. Our server was also very nice.

Sushi rolls were perfect, staff are friendly as always, and the views and ambiance were lovely.

I came here for lunch on a Friday and dined at the patio with an amazing view of the ocean. But I must admit that was the only exciting part about my experience. The service was really slow even though the restaurant wasn't that busy; it seemed like I was invisible. I ordered Lobster Roll with fries. The lobster roll was fresh and tasted good, but the fries were mostly burnt and very greasy.

    poor service, ok food

Great looking establishment, lots of heated patio seating, food is ok but service is really down the drain somewhere. The staff may not know the menu very well so don't expect to get your questions answered. They also listen to your food requests but don't expect the kitchen to be able to follow through. We were a party of three. The place is busy. I requested low salt for my dish, the waitress comes back from the kitchen and says they'll do no salt. I repeated low salt and waitress says yes. My food comes to me without any adjustments, and for that it was a little oversalted. I gave up and just ate. But to give them credit the lobster was cooked to perfection, just barely fully cooked which takes skill. My friend asked for medium rare on her steak, the steak comes medium so they offered to redo the order and second time it came back medium. If you don't care much about service or food and just want a nice heated patio seat this is it. Otherwise Bicycle Thief is just over there. See my review for them.

They sat us at the bar for dinner. It is very expensive for eating at a bar. The food was bland and underwhelming. Service was slow. We watched plates of sushi sitting there for 30+ min to be picked up by wait staff. I do not recommend it. I had the halibut. Root vegetables were not cooked and rock hard. Halibut was overcooked and tough. Disappointed.

This place was super busy for sitting outside, which is why we were attracted to it. The staff were really nice and polite. The food was so good. The rock shrimp was a perfect crisp, the crispy rice was sweet and the oysters were fresh. The lobster dinner was nice, came with a garlic butter. The lobster was juicy. All worth it.

    Mango (something I forget)

Great spot right on the water in Halifax. About a 15 minute walk from the cruise terminal. Plenty of outside/shaded seating with a nice view of the bay. Both drinks were fabulous and strong if I do say so myself. I had the nova bliss and my coworker had the mango (something I forget). Both super good. We ordered the Tokyo and Rainbow sushi rolls. I was expecting small rolls but these things were no joke. Couldn't even finish mine. But both were solid! Would day it's a must to stop in, at least for a drink, if you're in Halifax.

Made sure we were ok every time he was in the vicinity. I ordered the mushroom Benedict with the hollandaise on the side. It was great with the locally made truffle cream cheese. I did have to ask for a steak knife to be able to cut through the bread. It was a well done piece of pizza dough. Tasty but tough to get through. Came with tater tots and a donair sauce to dip them in. My husband ordered the stuffed baked potato. He loved it but said next time he will order the side salad on the side and ask for more dressing. I ended the meal with a cool glass of rose. We will definitely be back.

I wanted to try the jalepino corn bread but not the full order so she was able to sell me a single piece ,it was delicious ! My husband got the burger and fries and really enjoyed! The only negative is really the noise level inside. If the weather allows eat on their terrace overlooking Halifax harbor.

Lobster roll was fine, nothing to write home about but wouldn't order or recommend. However their crab ravioli was phenomenal, the lemon and cream sauce work perfectly. The restaurant is hard to miss, with several bright red bicycles decorating the entrance--a charming nod to its name and a great photo opportunity. We stopped by around 3 p.m. without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to snag a table for two despite the restaurant being quite busy. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm, cozy, and inviting. The service was equally impressive--professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling my best that day, so I kept my order simple with a hot tea and the Beef Carpaccio. Our server immediately noticed I was under the weather and thoughtfully made sure I always had a fresh supply of hot water for my tea. It was such a small gesture, but it made a big difference and spoke volumes about the level of hospitality. The Beef Carpaccio was absolute perfection. Made with AAA beef tenderloin, it was delicate, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. I only wish I had been feeling better so I could have explored more of the menu. My boyfriend ordered the Linguine all'Aragosta, featuring local lobster, tomato, garlic, vino bianco, cream, and parmigiano. I managed to steal two bites, and it was heavenly--rich, fresh, and packed with flavor. The lobster was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was indulgent without being heavy. Lastly, we ordered the creme brulee and it was perfection! Creamy with the perfect brulee sugar top crack and not too sweet. It's easy to see why Bicycle Thief has become such a Halifax institution and why it's reportedly one of Sidney Crosby's favorite local restaurants. Between the exceptional food, attentive service, and inviting ambiance, it absolutely lived up to the hype. We can't wait to return on a future visit--and hopefully next time I'll be healthy enough to enjoy even more of the menu.
