The sushi is always amazing, I recommend the salmon maki and the tuna, so fresh and tasty. Our server was very friendly and we had a nice conversation! Overall such a great experience and she even gave us some complimentary sweet potato tempura! The pricing was also very reasonable... go check it out

However; my last three orders from them have been terrible and costly. The first time, I ordered the king crab, which was markedly more expensive and received imitation. I ordered tuna belly and they asked to replace it with tuna with no compensation for the difference in cost after I agreed. I swept this under the rug. The next order; as an appetizer I ordered softshell crab appetizer, they sent the roll, again I swept it under the rug. This third order was the straw that broke the camels back: I'm done. My order compared to what I got, is in in the pictures. Ordered spicy salmon roll - got Tuna Maki. Ordered Negi-Hamachi (suppose to be yellow tail and green onion), got a salmon roll. Not maki with avocado or even tempura bits; just rice and salmon. Vast cost difference. I got the Alaskan roll I ordered, but that is mine and the other two are my kids rolls, so I clearly won't eat in front of them. I'm done. Something is seriously wrong there and at this point it's a waste of money.

Hello, after having lived in Vancouver for many years and undoubtedly having become a sushi addict…read moreI have moved out east (Quebec) and since then I am still in search for decent sushi's. On our visit to Halifax I was looking forward to seeing if the sushis here would be taking advantage of the fresh crab meat and finally grant me with the Sushi epiphany I have been looking for for the past four years. This place came in highly recommended by two of our local friends and five stars Yelp so I decided to give it a shot. The place is well located in front of a lake in what seems to be a very nice neighbourhood. The staff greeted us in a friendly manner and kids felt welcomed. The place was clean too. We had some veggies tempuras, California rooks, circus rolls and I can't remember the last one. I must say I was a little bit disappointed with the sushi taste, the presented nicely, yes that is true but the taste was fairly neutral. The rice was well cooked and stuck to the chopsticks adequately but I would have expected a little more flavour out of the rolls themselves. The one we choose had a lot of batter spread on top, a little too much to my taste but it's ok as we could put it on the side but I would still expect a bit more flavour out of it. For instance a California roll in Vancouver was shredded crabsticks mixed in some sort of mayo (mayo might not be the term) and on the east coast most sushis have the crab stick just cut, not shredded no sauce with it. I thought that with all the fresh crab meat available here I could expect something a little more original. Even the other rolls with crab in them (not the California roll) did not bring out the crab flavour. As a result it is not a bad sushi restaurant at all but I would have expected for more from such a highly recommended and five stars rated restaurant.

Was craving some sushi so ordered two rolls for take out, a spicy scallop and a spicy tuna roll. I have eaten in and taken out from here before and was generally satisfied with the food, recently heard from other people that the food here was going downhill and to order from the Halifax location instead. There was so much tempura bits in the roll they wouldn't even stay together. And my soya sauce because completely saturated with tempura that it looked more like a brown paste. Never again! Couldn't even eat it.

Before heading out, we selected five items from the extensive menu, and chose to eat-in. When I handed the list of items we wanted, the hostess graciously suggested that the amount of food might be too much for two diners. My response was that the intent was to get to taste as broad a range of dishes possible, rather than a limited number based on just two of us. Turns out that had there been four of us dining, there was plenty of food to go around. We were the only Caucasians present. I think there were five other tables occupied, and the customers were relaxed regulars who obviously had a preference for this venue. I think the wait time for the food was about 15 - 20 minutes. As the dishes started arriving, we were issued chopsticks and spoons. Neither of us were experienced in the use of chopsticks, so forks were the first request. Maybe even knives, next time. The dishes were produced without any ostentatious flourish. All were hot and the dishes well heated and I found that out the hard way. I was impressed with the hostess. She was the only employee in the serving area, in addition to an unknown number employed in the kitchen. So she did the serving, the cleanups, answered the phone, and dealt with the take-our orders. She wore an engaging smile, and was gracious at all times. No lurking nearby as we ate, but she had a very good situational awareness of all that was taking place. There was also a "call" button on the table, which brought her immediately to us to answer a question. With her poise and skills, there are a lot of servers and hostesses I have encountered at other dining spots who could have learned from watching her for even a short time. The food surpassed any expectations. It was all excellent. I felt that the kimchee fried rice might not have delivered a full kimchee experience. And then I spotted a couple of small pieces of cabbage on one of the condiments plates and popped one the into my mouth. My sinuses suddenly felt as if they were on fire. My face grew hot, and I realized that this had to be the genuine item. Next time, my approach will be a bit more circumspect, but I will again partake. My son and I will be back, and will make sure that there are one or two others dining with us. This was an experience we both want to share with others.
