Seven. It's an intriguing name. A number synonymous with good fortune. George Costanza from Seinfeld even contemplated calling his unborn child Seven. But does it really work as a gourmet burger restaurant?
Seven only opened up in the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre food court a year or so ago. By my very nature I am drawn to new things and I found myself in the line for a Seven shortly after opening. I have to admit that my initial reaction wasn't the best. For starters, the menu board itself is quite confusing. So many of us are used to the combo meal offers, but at Seven they seem to have thrown that concept out the window. Don't get me wrong, I am all for innovation, however this felt like more of a step backwards in my opinion. In addition, the burgers themselves were good but they came at a price. Very few of us I imagine would feel comfortable paying $10 plus for a burger in a food court. Maybe if we were dining in the south a France and we saw a 'Le Burger' on the menu we'd consider paying a premium, but not in the Indooroopilly food court. Keeping this in mind, the burger was perfectly fine, however it didn't really blow my mind by any stretch of the imagination.
Overall, Seven is simply overpriced from my perspective. I know I have a reputation for being a stinge, I prefer the term 'bargain-enthusiast', but in reality I don't mind paying for quality, if the product is in fact of a high quality. Unfortunately, I feel Seven just treads the divide between average and above average and really isn't worth it's gourmet price tag. read more
