Had an old regulator that needed service. Scuba world is fairly close and I've used them before. Brought it in and the lady staffing the store agreed to service it for $120. Good price, especially considering that this regulator is nearly 40 years old and has seen heavy use in the past. You know it's a**holes like Dave L. and Nick R. that make Yelp a joke. Let's start with Dave L., crying about the prices at a dive shop. Yo Dave, don't like the prices go somewhere else. Try Target or Walmart, they seem more your speed sport. It's amazing that you complain about "the mess". Why? the store only has so much room for stock and most are happy when Andrea has what they need on hand. Only a jacka** would gripe about something like that. And then there's Nick R., what a douche bag. Check out his reviews. Read them. All this clown does is trash local businesses if they don't bow down to his demands. He even reviewed a sushi place a one start because the waiter didn't remember his order after four times visiting the restaurant. What a pretentious prick. The fact is that there is no better regulator tech than Andrea in the industry. The SCUBA community understands the need for quality work on equipment your life depends on. I do not believe there has been one instance where I came I to the shop and Andrea did not engage with me immediately, greet me kindly and ask what she could help me with. Today after a group dive the founder of my SCUBA club Rich Parker suggested I see Andrea about getting a zipper installed from the front of my wetsuit down a few inches so I was not feeling so constricted. I went into her shop after and Andrea concurred with Rich and explained it is a very common adjustment and will arrange the adjustment. She will also hydro test my tank. That exchange was less than 5 minutes and I was off. Positive customer service experience, as always, thanks Rich and Andrea. read more

Sorry, I just don't know why there is such enthusiasm about this place. I came in here with my 12 year old son based on Yelp reviews. He wants to get into snorkeling. I hope someday we can be dive buddies. The store is a mess. There are tanks all over the floor. When I walked in the proprietor yelled, "Is that" so-and-so. She was sitting down in the back with another customer and could not see over all the stuff laying around. My son needed some new fins. I asked what she had in his size. The options were basically toys or something in the $150-200 range. Nope and nope. When I asked here about weights for me snorkeling with a 2mm full suit, she said I should start with 12 to 14 pounds. Whoa! Way too much. I would struggle to get to the surface with that much weight. Maybe she knows her stuff when it comes to scuba, but she doesn't have much to offer snorkelers or skin divers. read more

Andrea is fantastic. Every time I have been to her shop she is so accommodating, knowledgeable, and professional. She does magic when it comes to inventory and making the most of the space in the store, she always seems to have what I want even more so that other than some of those overpriced chain stores. On top of that she has so many connections when it comes to modifying wet suits (I am not any easy fit) and she usually gets everything done so quickly. Her prices are comparable to other dive shops lets face it, its not a cheap sport especially when your life is on the line. Why would you want to go cheap anyway??? While I'm taking my scuba cert lessons elsewhere I came here because they had in stock masks with replaceable corrective lenses. I compared prices on all the gear the school shop wants me to purchase from them and found I will save a few hundred dollars. I'm definitely coming back to get the rest of my gear. We came in to rent wetsuits and hoods and Andrea was such a pleasure to deal with. (a small sale) She brought out nice quality suits that she thought would work best for us. She has a lot of inventory in her store and is very fair about passing on her discounts to her customers. When I returned our wetsuits, I mentioned that my husband really loved the way his fit. She said she had one for sale and we were able to purchase it. :) She had a personal touch, was knowledgeable and welcomed us with a big smile. We will definitely be back to rent from her, fill our tanks and make future scuba purchases. I need a wet suit that i thought needed to be customized because of my large chest/small waist. The owner found me 2 wet suits to try on. 2nd one will stretch more in the chest. I am a difficult customer in that I will take several months to decide what I want. I will shop multiple stores, read online reviews and boards. As Andrea can attest, I have made her crazy with all of my questions. She truly knows scuba and will tell you what is good and bad about equipment. This is important because, when you look online, when was the last time you were able to find a negative review of a product? I think the thing that has impressed me the most is that she truly cares about her customers. It's not all about making money. She uses NAUI for her certifications and has some great instructors. Do not recommend this store. My daughter is attending FJC scuba class and has had nothing but a bad experience at the program and store. Andrea is rude and has over priced items. She is rude on the phone and doesn't understand people work and have classes and it's hard to get to the store which is not even located close to Fullerton Junior College. Don't go to this store. Great Customer Service and Expert Advice. I myself have gone here only 3 times but my dad has been coming here for about 15 years+ and I can totally see why. They make the whole process quick and easy and truly do know what they're talking about. The staff is very knowledgeable and have great experience. At Scuba World they know the hobby and the community. My family went to the Caribbean a few months ago and they got a great recommendation for a scuba guide there. My family had an amazing time. Like I said, they seem very well connected with the scuba diving community so even if they didn't have what items/services you need, they would be able to give you a good recommendation where to look. When you go there you can tell they have a lot of regulars that they obviously know well. They seem to have awesome customer loyalty (like my father) which is always a good sign of great business. Online search for SubGear snorkeling products referred me to Scuba World. I called to check inventory and spoke with Andrea. She was upfront and informed me that she had the older product model, but it was a neutral gray color which fit my preferences better than the newer yellow model. I headed in just before her store closing hour at six PM. She had the bag ready for me which made it one of the easiest first time shopper experiences ever. I have been diving since the early 90's and Scuba World and Andrea have been a part of the reason why. They made us feel comfortable when we were going through the certification and I was more than a bit concerned about the whole process. This review has been a long time coming. I've used Scuba World for a long time now and it never really occurred to me to write a Yelp review. Shame on me. Andrea owns and runs the shop and is extremely knowledgeable about the fundamental gear you need as a diver locally here in SoCal. The shop is an Aqualung shop, so that and Scubapro is mostly what she has in stock. Now, Sports Chalet also sells Aqualung, but the difference between their knowledge and Andrea's is like night and day. I was somewhat skeptical when sheinsisted that the Aqualung Aquaflex was the best wetsuit on the market today (given that other places tout Henderson), but she was exactly right. I did a lot of shopping for wetsuits (including trying them on) and hands down, the Aqualung was the most comfortable, best material. For the last 1.5 years, I've been diving with it and its the best I've ever owned. The other area she really shines is her servicing of gear. I've been taking my regs and tanks to her since I've owned them and she really knows her stuff. I don't want to get into a long story, but suffice it to say that she was the only shop that went out of her way to track down an obscure part I needed. Other shops just said the part could not be obtained. Go see her. She deserves your business. read more
