My wife and I had dove in maui before but had a mediocre experience and we did not want to repeat that. I stumbled across Barry's website and it immediately caught my attention. I called and asked about organizing a private dive charter as my wife and I were especially interested in the backside of Molokini, but did not want to deal with the headache of one of those large dive groups. Barry said he would price out a dive trip and get back to me. A little later he provided us with some different options, not trying to sway us one way or the other. We opted for a two tank dive on the backside of Molokini. Throughout the planning process he was super helpful and communicative and we felt well taken care of. On the day of the dive, we arrived at the boat launch to our private charter with Barry+a boat crew of 3. All our gear was set up and organized perfectly. The dives went great and Barry was with us the whole time taking pictures and video (he has an amazing underwater camera setup). He made sure our experience was focused on having a great time, which we did. The best part about working with him was that he acted as the singular point of contact. I didn't have to organize a a charter, equipment rental, etc. He took care of it all. He's a fantastic diving concierge, guide, and photographer. I will also say that his charter price was significantly cheaper than when I called dive shops directly and inquired about private charters. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Maui so we can dive with him again!

Today's dive was special! First time on a scooter dive, and it was really incredible! I can't thank you enough, Barry Lewis. If you are lucky enough to catch Barry when he has availability, he will take the time and attention to design your dive in a personal way. The quality of experience is what you can count on having. Scuba Barry gets 5 stars from me https://scubabarry.com/

I had an Excellent experience with Barry. I have an advanced open water diver certificate, have hundreds of dives but have not done a night dive. I was lucky enough to find Barry to help be my guide for a night dive. He clearly explained the dive plan, what to look out for, signals, safety check, entry and exit locations. Dive went really smoothly, saw lots of critters such as octopus, cleaner shrimps, scorpion fish, eels and many tropical fish. Thank you Barry! I will be back!

Amazing Shore Dive Experience -- Ask for Joey!…read more We had an amazing shore dive with Joey at Dive Maui! We originally booked the Shark and Turtle Dive, but unfortunately, recent rain had washed out the visibility, so we had to change plans and head to Airport Beach instead. While we were initially disappointed, it turned out to be a fantastic alternative! We still got to see tons of beautiful tropical fish, eels, starfish, and other marine life. What really made the experience exceptional was Joey! He was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, patient, and genuinely passionate about what he does. Safety was clearly his top priority, and he took the time to thoroughly explain everything before getting in the water. Throughout the dive, he was attentive and reassuring, especially when we experienced some challenges with our masks and ear pressure. He never made us feel rushed or uncomfortable and made sure we felt safe and confident the entire time. Even though the original dive didn't work out as planned, Joey went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable experience. It's guides like him who truly make the difference! We highly recommend Dive Maui, and if you're booking a dive, do yourself a favor and ask for Joey! You won't be disappointed. We had an outstanding experience with Extended Horizons, led by divemaster Gustavo "Gu." Recent…read moreMaui rains reduced visibility at many sites, but Gu adjusted the plan and guided us to the best possible conditions. That made the difference. These were refresher dives for our group, and Gu handled them exactly right. He quickly assessed each diver's experience, our small group included both newer divers with fewer than ten dives and others with more than 70, but with time since our last dives. His review of fundamentals, safety, and buoyancy control was clear and structured, without slowing the group down. He also reinforced reef etiquette and respect for marine life in a practical, no-nonsense way. This team takes responsible diving seriously. What stood out most was Gu's site knowledge. Not just which sites to choose, but where to position within each site to maximize visibility and encounters. He set expectations on what we might see, spotted eagle rays, green sea turtles, white-tip reef sharks, snowflake moray eels, and more, and then delivered. We saw all of it. With two divers carrying cameras, he was mindful of positioning, and I came away with great shots of eagle rays, reef sharks, and multiple turtles. The highlight was a turtle cleaning station at Mala Wharf, with six turtles active at once and eagle rays passing nearby. It was one of those rare dives where something meaningful is happening in every direction. The attached photo captures that exact moment, multiple turtles gathered at the cleaning station with eagle rays moving through the scene. Operationally, everything was tight: * Strong safety culture and clear briefings * Efficient check-in and gear handling * Well-maintained equipment * Good pacing, no rushing, no wasted time * Attentive in-water supervision without being intrusive * Effective group management for mixed experience levels If you are traveling to Hawaii with limited dive windows, this is the operator you want. They remove uncertainty and maximize your chances of a memorable dive. Highly recommend Extended Horizons, and Gu as your guide.

Phenomenal Dive Experience with Extended Horizons!…read more We booked our scuba diving excursion through The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, and could not have been happier with the experience provided by Extended Horizons. As newly certified divers, we were a bit nervous going into our first post-certification dive, but our Dive Master, Michael, made it an absolutely incredible and comfortable experience from start to finish. Michael was punctual, professional, and incredibly charismatic. He struck the perfect balance between being instructive and encouraging, offering helpful tips to improve our diving without ever making us feel overwhelmed. He really listened to what we were hoping to get out of the dive and tailored the experience to match. We did a two-tank shore entry dive, and it was spectacular. Michael guided us to some amazing marine life--green sea turtles, moray eels, cone snails, sea urchins, and even three stunning green lion fish. His deep knowledge and passion for the ocean were clear throughout, and it made the entire dive even more memorable. We can't recommend Extended Horizons enough--especially if you're a beginner looking for a patient, supportive, and fun dive guide. Thank you, Michael! We'll definitely be back.

We had the BEST time on the Sea Maui Sunset Cocktail Cruise! From the very beginning, the experience was wonderful. We called to book and spoke with Sunshine, who was exactly that -- an absolute ray of sunshine! She was so sweet, incredibly helpful, communicated everything clearly, and genuinely made us even more excited for the experience. When it was time to board, it was immediately clear that the crew knew exactly what they were doing. We visited during "hurricane" season, so the swells were definitely LARGE -- but that didn't stop us from having the time of our lives! Great music, amazing staff, fun fellow cruisers, drinks flowing, delicious food, and the most incredible Maui sunset. The vibes were absolutely immaculate from start to finish. Somewhere along the way, I also became the unofficial, official iPhone-ographer of the boat and ended up taking photos for sooo many people! One of my favorite things about the cruise was the crowd -- it was truly all ages, and ALL ages were awesome and an absolute pleasure to party with. We met so many genuinely nice people, including a group we clicked with so well that we decided to keep the night going afterward and ended up hanging out and doing karaoke together! That probably says everything you need to know about the fun, friendly, social atmosphere Sea Maui creates. We had such a great experience that I'm already excited to hopefully book a private charter with Sea Maui for our wedding welcome party next year! 10/10 experience. Highly recommend. Thank you, Sunshine and the entire Sea Maui crew for such a memorable evening! And enjoy the pics! Sea Maui, hit me up and I'll send you the rest -- I have HUNDREDS. :

Super attentive, the food…read morewas abundant, the boat was very clean, and I felt safe out snorkeling even with a pretty big swell shift from the Hurricane. The details: Our tour started by meeting at tree at the Sheraton, which sounds awkward but for us was super convenient and it was fun boarding the sailboat from the beach but you will get a little wet! Captain Michael walks you though the day and then you are off for about ~90 minutes to Lanai. During that time you are served (not a buffet) two meals. The cinnamon rolls were great and the breakfast croissants are now something I make at home. There was also a photographer on board so we took advantage and took some family photos (you buy at the end and I found them a whole lot cheaper and less stress than an actual family shoot). Once you get to the Island you can take a golf cart or take a short walk to the beach where they have all the gear you need. After the safety briefing you have about 2 hours to snorkel with the crew serving as lifeguards in the water. It is VERY easy to lose where you are when you've got your head underwater. I appreciated how attentive the crew was to where the four of us were at since there were a few times we needed some gentle guidance out of a harms way (shoreline rocks). The photographer also captures your snorkel sesh. After snorkeling, you're treated to another full meal of noodles and chicken. Followed by anything you might need for a little seasickness to prep for the journey back . My 12 yo son was pretty full at this point and had befriended the captain who let him help get the boat ready for the return trip. That was very cool! The ride home was a bit bumpy (Hurricane Lowell was coming) but Captain Michael did a great job avoiding anything major and even found a pod of dolphins. We also enjoyed the mai tais! Great experience! We will book more tours in the future. I would have booked another snorkeling or sunset tour during this trip but the water quality really deteriorated with the upcoming storm.

The level of service exceeded our expectations from beginning to end. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel incredibly well taken care of throughout the cruise. The four-course meal was stellar and much better than we expected from food served on a boat. Everything was fresh, beautifully prepared, and delicious. Between the incredible crew, exceptional service, wonderful food, beautiful ocean views, and Maui sunset, this was the perfect way to end our time in Maui. We couldn't have asked for a better final evening on the island.

This was my first time diving post-Covid and I couldn't have sailed with a better crew. Matt, Jess,…read moreJT, Brian, and our captain Brad were all amazing people to dive with. Matt and Brian were both amazing divemasters, both very accommodating to our entire party of divers. Matt will ask you what your favorite song is; be prepared to have one picked out, because you may hear it come on when some whales breach nearby (like what happened to me). Brad is the quintessential captain; he makes his boat so inviting you just want to stay there and hang out even after your dive is over. I was able to dive Lanai Cathedrals and Hammerhead. The former is a must for divers of any skill level for anyone that hasn't experienced it. Taking in the sights of shafts of light in super clear waters inside a coral enclosure is akin to a religious experience, so the cathedral moniker is fitting. The latter is very much a dive for advanced divers with a lot of dives logged under their belt. Dive conditions are notoriously windy/choppy/heavy currents, however we were fortunate that none of those were true. Absolutely perfect conditions, but even then you should be prepared for a potentially strenuous drift dive. It's off-season for Hammerheads, so we didn't see any, but this wasn't at all a problem. There's no denying how amazing it is to dive along a sheer coral cliff face like The Finger and some dolphins came to say hi on our dive. Diving off Moloka'i (where the Hammerhead dive is) is an absolute privilege no matter what sealife you encounter. Brian, our divemaster for Hammerhead, is exactly the kind of divemaster you want for an advanced dive by making sure everyone's head is in the right space: if you uphold your end of the bargain in taking this seriously by paying attention to your oxygen and no deco (and in an advanced dive, the quality of everyone's experience truly hinges on everyone taking every element of the dive very seriously), you'll have exactly the kind of laid back experience you came for. Where Lahaina Divers went above and beyond is they accommodated a family emergency that forced me to cancel my other two dives on VERY short notice, no questions asked (note to any travelers staying in the Napili area: the closest emergency room is a 45 minute drive away!). Thankfully all is well, but I absolutely needed to be available and couldn't make those dives, and it was no sweat at all to get that situated. I left some camera gear on the boat for my second dive, and Brad reached out to let me know I could pick it up at the shop. After everything that happened after that second dive, gotta tell ya, you really appreciate that level of care and consideration. Sure enough, I popped in later on and got my gear easy peasy. It's been 10 years since I've set foot on Maui and thus dove with Lahaina Divers, but fingers crossed I'll be back much sooner (and can keep all my reservations booked!).

The corals were mostly bleached, the fish were in an abundance but it was obvious the corals are hurting. No shark, or big fish in views. Being in the middle of whale season I was hoping to at least hear them underwater but no luck. On the way to and from the dive site we saw a bunch of whales which was a huge bonus. I have dove the big island and think it's so much better but that's just my 2 cents.
