My son and I took the Intro to SCUBA course and followed it up with the dive at Mala Wharf. This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Maui. Neither of us had prior SCUBA experience, but Ty made us feel completely comfortable with the equipment, hand signals, and overall process. He was patient, clear, and encouraging throughout the entire experience, which made a huge difference for us as first-timers. I was a little concerned that the second dive might feel repetitive--but I'm so glad we went for it. The dive at Mala Wharf was absolutely worth the extra time. The terrain was totally different from our first dive, with sunken structures, dramatic coral formations, and an even greater variety of marine life. We even got to see some reef sharks, which was a thrilling and unforgettable bonus. Far from being more of the same, the second dive felt like a completely new adventure. If anything, we left wishing we'd had even more time in the water. This experience sparked a genuine interest in SCUBA for both of us, and we're already talking about getting certified. My husband and I just got back from Hawaii for our first anniversary trip and I couldn't be more thrilled with the experience we had with Ty. My husband is certified and I'm still working on my certification. Ty really knows his stuff and was extremely patient with our whole group. Which he kept small by the way! We did two dives. The first one was the group dive, which we did with two other ladies at Airport Beach. The second dive, we did as a private dive at Mala Warf. It was the best scuba diving I've ever done by far! As fIrst time Divers in Maui we held nothing back and did the shark dive. We always hesitated doing scuba because we have a large family and it gets expensive fast. On an anniversary trip we set aside any previous excuses and just did it. We had a splendid dive. As first timers we had to first do a "training" dive. We met at the Kahekili Beach Park. We trained in the parking lot and then a short walk into the beach. This was a good foundational dive but again also a lot of scenery. The 2nd dive we met at the Mala Wharf. It was only 10 minutes away. Nestled in an old bridge and broken railroad the ocean-life have claimed this as their home. It was amazing filled with large sharks, turtles and so many species of fish and in great abundance. This was amazing. The instruction paid off. As first time divers we had done "snuba" in the past but this really was our first dive. It did give us comfort but more importantly the instruction from Ty was on the money. If I were to give you any pointers: 1. Pay attention to the instructions. It will come in handy and make for a better dive. 2. Also don't be late. It takes away from the experience of others. If you are late it takes away time from others. 3. Make connections with others. Though I was frustrated for late arrivals we were friends and exchanged numbers and stories by the end. The other party was 10-12 minutes late which came close to them being canned with no refund. It just creates awkwardness. Follow the instructions in the email, follow Ty's instructions in the training and in application and you are guaranteed a good time. read more

Just want to give a big thank you to Ty with In2Scuba! My dive partner and I knew we wanted to get some diving in during our vacation to Maui and spent a lot of time looking at companies still operating after the Lahaina fires. After a lot of research we came across In2Scuba who was operating in the area we were staying near Kaanapali. After some back and forth messages with Ty who was always quick to respond and answer any questions we were able to get a good idea of the state of things and what locations would be available to dive with our time schedule. Ty was extremely knowledgeable on all of the dive sites on the west side and current state of things. On the day of the dives we hit Airport Beach first and after a little meet and greet getting all of our gear setup it was dive time. Ty was a great guide pointing out numerous specifics of marine life and giving us a nice tour of the reef. From there we headed to Mala Pier which had been closed down to diving for a while due to the fires. We were Tys first guest back here since the fires and it was our second time diving this site. We saw 8-10 turtles throughout the dive along with numerous fish and marine life but the highlight was easily the 2 white tip reef sharks. Ty knew all of the hiding spots to find everything and we were very respectful of the marine life to not encroach on them but admire from a respectful distance. It was a great day of diving and I highly recommend anyone looking for a personal private style dive guide service to look into Ty and In2Scuba. tl;dr: Fantastic company to go with especially for beginner divers at a great price! Signed up online after seeing all the great reviews for the beginner dive. They instructed us to call them the day before to confirm the location with Deborah. We did the a dive at Airport Beach with Deborah and it's great especially for beginners! They provide all your equipment, so just bring your swimsuit and a towel. You can also store a bag in their van if you didn't rent a car. They put you into about groups of 4 and go through all the necessary training on land and make sure you feel comfortable before diving down. We went down about 40 feet with a total dive time between 30-40min. I felt super comfortable and Deborah made sure everyone was doing well throughout the entire dive. We saw variety of fish and even a baby turtle at the end! There was good visibility with minimal wind. Unfortunately, lots of the coral reef were bleached and quite sparse to other tropical places that I have been to. This is not a criticism of the company, but more of the unfortunate nature of all the damage we've done as a species. PRO TIP: You can add a 2nd dive to look for turtles at a discounted rate of $99 if you did the intro class. read more

In 2 scuba was amazing. Ty and Deborah did an excellent job. My husband and I are certified divers but haven't dove in over two years. Their refresher course was great and we were out diving shortly after reviewing everything. We did two dives with them. One on a reef close to shore at Kahekili Beach and the other at Mala Wharf wreck site. The first dive Ty took us all over the beautiful reef and we saw lots of reef fish and marine life. The second dive at the wharf was even better. We saw turtles and got close enough to take pictures with them. It was a beautiful reef made on the pier that had been destroyed in a hurricane. My husband and I did the intro dive and turtle/shark/wreck dive on the same day. Mike was our instructor and he was FABULOUS! my husband is certified and I have dived before but it was a long time ago. Mike had us comfortable very quickly and both dives were so amazing! So amazing infact that we rebooked to go back for the turtle dive again the next day. Our dive the second day was with Zac (I think that was his name!) and it was equally as amazing as the first day.
