Ooohhhh! This is gonna be good

The Gods of Ice Cream sent to us... Scrum Diddly's! Yes this place is a gift from heaven! Amazing ice cream shop that has the most amazing out of this world selection of toppings allowing you to create something like over 2,400 types of ice cream extravaganza or you can select from some of their expert put together recipes such as the Ferraro which is just the most amazing thing! The toppings to pick from is so extensive, from chocolate, sweet or fruit, there really is something for everyone. You can also opt for waffles and crepes from their menu all with a good dollop of ice cream of course... The downside here is that word has since spread about this place so the queues are ridiculous, it's only a small corner store and yet the queue can go around the block and I'm not even exaggerating! It's no doubt gonna find it way onto every 'top 10 things to do in Dublin' lists, grab a Scrum Diddly's and hit the Dun Laoghaire Pier :-) #perfectday

    Snicker-bocker Glory

I have read reviews online about this ice-cream store that people line up just to get ice cream. And it was no joke! The queue reached the side street of the store! But we didn't have to wait that long since there were about 4 staff working and they were really quick in serving customers. Their products range from an average of €4-5 which is very affordable! I got the Snickerbocker Glory. It is made of whipped ice cream at the middle, caramel sauce, ice cream with Snickers flavour and Snickers chunks. It cost €5 for a huge cup. The only downside of this store is the lack of seats for customers. We ate our ice cream at the curb since it was really crowded inside due to its popularity. Check out my full review of this store in my blog here: http://esjaeee.blogspot.ie/2015/06/we-screamed-ice-cream-at-scrumdiddlys.html

    Easter special! €5!!

Amazing. I got the Easter special and I don't think I've been so happy. If you you chocolate and ice cream this is the one stop shop. You get half an Easter egg filled with ice cream, sauce and 3 toppings. Even with the kids in front of me the staff were nothing but kind and patient! Bravo!

My sisters Ferrero Roche ice cream that I proceeded to eat half of after I finished off mine!

Had two weeks off from work at the start of August, so a few of us decided one night to hop in the car and head on over to Dun Laoghaire to check out the now, made famous by teenage girls instagram profiles, Scrumdiddlys. Was it worth it? Hmmm...maybe? It is only ice cream afterall and they're certainly not reinventing the wheel, but what Scrumdiddlys does, it does well. I'd suggest going for one of their signature made ice cream cups instead of choosing their ice cream and 2 toppings option. At €5 you get quite a large cup overflowing with ice cream, a premium sauce, and toppings galore. I got the Ferrero Roche ice cream that was loaded with their melted Ferrero Roche sauce. My God, I could have eaten a cup of that alone! In fact, when I was done, I ate half of my sisters one too! And this was after eating a large dinner shortly beforehand, so that's saying how much I enjoyed it. They also had a large Kinder Bueno cup too that looked very tempting. I can definitely see myself returning for that one. So Scrumdiddlys, probably a little overhyped at this stage but by no means does that mean it wasn't good. Because it was, it was damn good.

    Scrummy Mess! (Meringue,strawberry,marshmallow,syrup)

Best ice cream parlour by far & the selection is endless! I still have brain freeze after my big tub of "Scrummy Mess" I had an hour ago.. its sorta like an eton mess but has the biggest chunks of meringue in it and I added some tiny marshmallows and blue syrup. You can have anything ferrero roche, powdered teeth, kinder bueno milkshakes etc..the list is never ending. This place needs to be bigger it opens until 9pm and theres only two seats inside :( had to eat in the cold but was well worth the trip! :) cant wait to go back in the summer time. Its also really cheap only cost like €3 each :)

    So so good.

I've been walking past this place on a weekly basis for a few months now. Every time there is nice weather out the line for this place extends all the way out of the shop and down the road. From afar I could never understand why as it just looked like regular vanilla ice cream to me. So last weekend the weather was nice and my boyfriend and I were in Dun Laoghaire (spelling?) So finally decided to give this place a try and I stand corrected. Yes, this place is vanilla ice cream based but they offer an impressive selection of concoctions by way of added fruits, toppings and all kinds of delicious goodies. You can also make your own by having the ice cream with a selection of different chocolates and sweets added from the large variety presented. What a treat it was. I forget the name of what I ordered, but it was something toffee and banana based. I was really impressed that the banana and sauce weren't just at the top of the ice cream leaving you to just eat plain vanilla after that, nope, they put in the effort to weaving the delicious banana and sauce all through, so as you keep eating you keep getting surprised with me delicious goodness. I finally get why the lines here are long, but so worth it!

Selection of the menu but you can of course make your own ;)

A gelato shop which has unusual flavours like crispy choc and they cater for much more than an ice cream so inside you can find yummy desserts and cakes on display... Crepes and Waffles too! They serve up hot drinks so this well round place will satisfy the winter treats but my god, this place is going to do awesome come summer! Friendly owners they will make you up whatever concoction you want. All the ice cream is made on site and their sauces are premium gluten free so this place is defo 5 star worthy! They also sell their gelato in large tubs for take away so you can enjoy at home. 4 sizes to choose from €7-€20 which I will definitely take advantage of soon! I had the hot waffle with choc ice cream and loaded with choc sauce - who said CHOCOLATE! It was lovely freshly made in front of me, it was hot & full of taste... Winning combo! My husband opted for lemon and sugar crepe it was vanilla flavoured and was unbelievably good! So next visit to Dalkey before you take a coastal walk or treat yourself after your walk with a little something :-)

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would have liked some fruit as a topping option. Wow. It's true though. It would have been nice if there was some tables inside. And also, the place seemed to have been ransacked, and could have done with a good deep cleaning (around the window especially) and maybe a new lick of paint. Regardless, the staff did well taking orders and getting folks what they wanted. The ice cream was good.

The queue was huge but from what I had heard about this place it was to be expected. But in fairness to the staff the queue moved pretty quick considering. I looked at the giant sundae type things they had on the wall. There was one which was called a Snicker Bocker Glory. It sounded incredible, indulgent and so wrong. I had to have it. I was with my cousin and her young daughter and I have to say the staff are pretty amazing. Super patient with everyone including the indecisive chislers. I got my Snicker Bocker Glory which had fresh whipped ice cream, Snickers ice cream, caramel sauce and bits of Snickers going through it. I have to say I was left pretty underwhelmed. I thought the plain whipped ice cream which seems to be their staple was pretty bland. The Snickers ice cream was again not what it should be. I think I had maybe 6 or 7 spoonfuls until I actually gave up. Maybe an off day for the ice cream makers? I dunno. But based on what I got I probably wont be back. The 3 would probably be a 2 if it weren't for the deadly staff, they really are great.

Long story short, I was on a trip to Portugal and Spain with my boyfriend (first time in Europe for both of us), and we decided to take a 7 hour layover in Dublin (because why not!). We have an unofficial mission to try ice cream in every new state/country we travel to, so when we saw Scoop, we decided to go for it even though it was still early morning. They hadn't set up the ice cream in the display yet since it was so early, but the guy helping us (more about him later) told us the range of flavors they had, and we decided to go for Cream and Pistachio. To say the ice cream was good would be an understatement, and I hesitate to say this because it's a bold statement, but this may have been the best ice cream/flavor combination I've ever had! The pistachio was complex, delightfully nutty, and didn't have any of that artificial pistachio flavoring that is unfortunately too common, and the cream was light, refreshing, and a perfect complement to the nuttier flavors of the pistachio. Ugh, I was in ice cream heaven. If I'm ever in Dublin again, this will probably be stop #1 (plus, it's the first place I officially visited in Europe so it'll always have a special place in my heart). Top off the amazing ice cream with even more amazing service. I really wish I remembered his name because he deserves all the credit in the world, but the guy behind the register was so personable, patient, and polite! Not to mention, he gave us a free latte to welcome us to Dublin. We ran into the owner (?) as well during the visit, who was also very warm and welcoming. I noticed that this location is currently unclaimed, but owners - if you ever see this review, open a location in the US please :D And thanks again for your amazing ice cream and hospitality!

They also have crepes, waffles, milkshakes and other yumm things.
