Huge shout out to SHB for helping my husband and I celebrate our wedding anniversary. They catered a cozy meal for two with some of our favorites for our Staycation. It's hard to pick a favorite because the food is sooo tasty & prepared and packaged with love. We enjoyed creamy spinach dip, delectable salmon nachos, a fresh pre-dressed kale salad and yummy pasta salad. The portions were very generous and kept well in the packaging that was provided. This family owned business is professional. I was running behind but my food was ready. The owner gave me simple directions on how to put the meal together & it was a huge hit with my hubby! Thanks SHB for awesome food served and packaged with care! Try them and you can thank me later

I visited this spot on Easter and overall I had a really great experience. Yes, the wait was long,…read morebut honestly I expected that because of the holiday. If anything, I took it as a good sign. I noticed people weren't leaving or giving up on the line, they were staying and waiting, and to me that says the food must be good. Now let's get into the food... because this is where they really shine. I've had a lot of soul food around Atlanta, and I can honestly say flavor can be hit or miss depending on the place. But whoever is in that kitchen here, they are doing their thing. Everything tasted very homemade, like real deal, cooked with love type of food. The cornbread gave very much old school, just right. The peach cobbler? Absolutely outstanding. It's actually rare to find a restaurant peach cobbler that truly tastes homemade, and this one definitely did. That alone would make me come back. We ordered the beef meatloaf, mac and cheese, collard greens, lima beans, and dressing. The dressing was especially good, again very homemade and full of flavor. The only small thing I would mention is there wasn't any gravy on the dressing, and I would've loved that. The meatloaf was good, but could've used a bit more sauce since it was just a pinch overcooked. Outside of that, everything was really good. The food was flavorful, the portions were solid, and the prices were very affordable. Overall, I'd definitely rate this place highly. I truly enjoyed it and will be coming back. I'll also be recommending it to my family and friends for sure.

I finally pulled up to Yummies Cafe on a Thursday afternoon to check a box on my "must-visit" list…read more Supporting Black-owned spots is always the move, so I was looking forward to seeing how they got down. The space itself is actually a decent size--medium to large with enough seating to where you aren't fighting for real estate against the afternoon rush. It has a good flow to it, which I appreciated. I decided to deviate from the standard soul food lanes and went with the Caribbean Jerk Alfredo Combo, which comes with chicken and shrimp, plus some garlic bread on the side. Now, let's be clear: this is a soul food establishment, not a Caribbean kitchen, and that distinction was definitely present in the flavor profile. Everything was pretty tasty and the portions were solid, but it wasn't the best Jerk I've ever encountered. The sauce had some life to it, but if you're looking for that authentic island heat that makes you see colors, this isn't that. It's a soulful take on a fusion dish, and it does the job well enough for a mid-week craving. Overall, the vibes were straight and the food was good. It's a reliable spot to keep in the rotation when you want a heavy plate and want to keep your dollars in the community. I'll probably stick to the more traditional staples next time I slide through, but I walked out satisfied.
