    The history of the restaurant

Five stars all around. Was looking for a soul food restaurant in Stockbridge that had good ratings and this gem came up. I placed an online order because I didn't think they were open. Everything was seasoned well and was delicious and hot. Small restaurant and has seating outside. I'm not a fan of restaurant cabbage, macaroni and cheese and meatloaf because I truly believe me and my moms cannot be outdone. Well this was in the running. I said I would come back next Sunday for the meatloaf because I was celebrating my birthday and was too full from the weekend to eat anything else. The owner gave it to me as a birthday present . When I got home, my belly made room if you're ever in the area, stop by. They serve breakfast and lunch

First time eating here. Our neighbor referred us and so glad she did! The food was absolutely amazing. (I don't know anything about the original restaurant so no comparison).... I just know tasty!! There were some good choices.. my husband had the meatloaf. Mac and cheese and cabbage. I had oxtails, rice and gravy and coleslaw. Peach cobbler for dessert. The helpings were so generous that we have enough leftover for dinner! If you're looking for some good home cooking this place may remind you of your grandma's cooking! Plenty of outdoor dining options...-

Very friendly and welcoming folks. AC was barely keeping up with the heat. Shrimp and Grits was good, but fairly bland.

She expanded from cooking for her churchfellows. Spacious room, 20+ tables, clean. Serve perch, mullet, catfish as well as bbq'd meats. Baked beans are a star--richly maple-sweet and meaty. Lima beans made with pig tail bones and flavorful but perhaps too salty. Baked mac & cheese was great/cheesy, but I'm a creamier/not baked fan. Unique peach cobbler with a light cake and peaches on the bottom. Delicious change. Anxious to try the grits & fish breakfast. I have no doubt Mz Babae will have a following with her southern/soul food. PROS--friendly staff, (Danica-attentive server) sat quickly, nice flavors, great prices, fair portions, served piping hot, owner visited table, real silverware & plates, great menu options including burgers and sandwiches, hot dogs, serve breakfast, lunch & supper CONS-unpleasant odor upon entering, water tastes like well water, didn't enjoy pig tail bones in the meaty lima beans and the (delicious) baked beans, Pepsi products.

The staff are very friendly. The kitchen is a little slow getting the food out, but i believe that will improve once the kinks are worked out before the actual Grand Opening. Overall, I would recommend it. I will review again when I go for breakfast and/or lunch

I visited this spot on Easter and overall I had a really great experience. Yes, the wait was long,…read morebut honestly I expected that because of the holiday. If anything, I took it as a good sign. I noticed people weren't leaving or giving up on the line, they were staying and waiting, and to me that says the food must be good. Now let's get into the food... because this is where they really shine. I've had a lot of soul food around Atlanta, and I can honestly say flavor can be hit or miss depending on the place. But whoever is in that kitchen here, they are doing their thing. Everything tasted very homemade, like real deal, cooked with love type of food. The cornbread gave very much old school, just right. The peach cobbler? Absolutely outstanding. It's actually rare to find a restaurant peach cobbler that truly tastes homemade, and this one definitely did. That alone would make me come back. We ordered the beef meatloaf, mac and cheese, collard greens, lima beans, and dressing. The dressing was especially good, again very homemade and full of flavor. The only small thing I would mention is there wasn't any gravy on the dressing, and I would've loved that. The meatloaf was good, but could've used a bit more sauce since it was just a pinch overcooked. Outside of that, everything was really good. The food was flavorful, the portions were solid, and the prices were very affordable. Overall, I'd definitely rate this place highly. I truly enjoyed it and will be coming back. I'll also be recommending it to my family and friends for sure.
