Fried chicken, Mac and cheese, collared greens, and biscuit
    Bernadette A.

After a long day of work, I wasn't really up for cooking. I got fried chicken (dark and white meat), mac and cheese, collard greens, and a biscuit. Several people have recommended this restaurant to me and I thought that the food was delicious. The fried chicken was delicious! My whole entire meal was delicious! I would definitely come back again.

This place is always great for comfort food. It is a cafeteria style set up. Walk in, get a tray and a roll of silverware, then step up to the line and pick your meat and sides, pick a bread, and pay at the end of the line. Then pick out your seat and they will bring you your drinks and any condiments you may need. The servers are friendly and helpful. You can also order to go, and they have catering as well. You can find their daily menu on Facebook. This is a great little lunch or dinner spot.

I travel weekly for business and chain restaurants are just not appetizing. Asked my client where to eat and was told to come here. Country cooking with meats, veggies and desert at a reasonable price and perfectly seasoned. Glad I stopped and next time in the area this will definitely be on my to do list as a place to eat.

The menu changes daily! Just go to their Facebook page and click on the picture.

I've gotta stop ordering those pork chops and try something else! They're always fresh and hot.

This place is not for people that love flavor. But it's great if you can't have salt or you just want real food and not fast fried food.

We used to have family in the area, but unfortunately haven't been down here in 5 years as a result of them not being in the area anymore. When we used to stop in, the service was unbeatable. Everyone would treat you like family, and would get you your food fast. Now, since the restaurant is under ***new ownership***, we are not sure if that is still the case. Our server was great (she remembered our family even after 5 years (connected the dots to us)), but the rest of the employees and the community within the restaurant felt a bit stuffy. They used to have the best coffee. It is still good now, but something changed (not quite as good). Their pancakes are unfortunately rubbery, but contrastively, they have great bacon; crisp with a bit of fat, that's how we like it. Their hash browns have not changed one bit. They are still crispy!! Some stuff has changed in the atmosphere of the restaurant. They generally have the same theme, but some of the signs have changed. If you get lucky, you may get to eat your food with Shaquille O'Neal in the restaurant! He lives in the area, and comes in every now and then to get some food and pay for everybody's meal. What a great guy!

The food was fresh and great quality. The service was exceptional and they really took care of us. I especially loved the follow up messages on how the food was, and the clear communication on my order being prepared and delivered. This is a great company to use for catering purposes. They have many different options to choose from and the boxed meals and super simple and easy to serve to large groups. I will for sure be using cowboy chicken again and recommend other companies looking to cater large groups to use them! This would be a great choice for Holiday parties for big corporations with a massive amount of associates.

Welcome back to the table…read more I find that most people dismiss rotisserie chicken as "basic," but finding one that is actually seasoned through to the bone is harder than it should be. I stopped by the Cowboy Chicken in McDonough looking for something reliable, and it delivered that specific, wood-fired comfort that's hard to replicate at home. The vibe is laid-back and rustic exactly what you'd expect from a spot centered around an open flame. The Spread We didn't hold back on the order, covering everything from the signature rotisserie to the brisket and bowls. The Signature Chicken: They use a dry rub and slow-roast the meat over real wood. The result is a juicy, tender interior with skin that carries a slight, salty crispness. What stood out most was the flavor penetration; the seasoning wasn't just sitting on the surface. Unlike many rotisserie spots where the center feels neglected or underdone, this was consistent throughout. It holds its own without needing sauce. The Sides: The Spanish Rice surprised me. Fluffy, well-seasoned, shelly in texture, and the addition of corn gave it a nice sweetness. The Mac and Cheese was a bit of a curveball; it's more on the liquid, saucy side, but the flavor builds on you the more you eat. The fries were perfect and held a solid crisp even after sitting for a bit. We ended up getting a second basket of Fries because the crunch held up beautifully, even as they cooled down. The Coleslaw will be a hit or miss for some, we had mixed reviews. The shredded cabbage was thicker than normal but the other half of the table it was perfect. Tinga Bowl ($14.00): If you want something that feels a bit lighter but still packs a punch, this is it. The shredded chicken has a balanced kick, paired with corn relish, black beans, and a sprinkle of "Cowboy Dust" for heat. It's refreshing but filling. Layered with rice, beans, corn relish, avocado, crema it all balances out. Not heavy, but still satisfying. Brisket Sandwich (13.75: The bread was lightly toasted, cradling pulled brisket that was smoky and not juicy because we needed sauce for it but the flavor was there. Crispy Tenders ($13.25): These were a table favorite. They nailed the external crunch without sacrificing the moisture of the chicken inside.Crunch on the outside, seasoned all the way through, and still tender inside. The Sweet Finish I'm officially a fan of their Texas Peach Cobbler. It leans more cake-like than soupy, which I prefer. It tasted fresh, warm and held its structure, making it a solid closer for a heavy meal. Service & Value The moment we walked in, the staff offered a genuine verbal welcome. The service was efficient, and the restaurant maintained a clean, organized look despite the steady flow of customers. At roughly $14-$15 for a plate with two sides and a roll, the portion size makes the pricing very reasonable for the quality you're getting. Table Approved This is the spot for a high-quality, fuss-free family dinner or a solo lunch when you're craving real wood-fired flavor without the fast food aftertaste. It's dependable, flavorful, and worth a visit for the chicken alone. Follow along where food meets adventure - Shallonz Table.
