My dad's favorite place most likely. We enjoy the diversity of food options every now and then, without it being a fix it yourself buffet. I've never met the owners, but my dad Mike has and enjoys coming here. The food was good, quickly were able to sit, our server was attentive and helpful in placing a to-go order and switching out my sweet tea when I wasn't a fan. Do not cater a meal from this establishment! Our organization ordered a luncheon from here and the chicken was not done, it was pink in the middle. Looks like they cut a whole chicken and boiled the meat, then broiled the skin on top to make it look like it was cooked. The mash potatoes were soupy (must have been a box), and the mac and cheese was watery with shredded cheese that wasn't melted. I am not sure what the dine in experience is like, but they definitely missed the mark with catering. read more

Oh, wow. There are two "may be's" here. That may be the best chicken & dumplings I've ever had. And those may be the best green beans I've ever had. And that is saying something. Especially since there are other things on that menu that I want to try. How many other "may be the best" items are being made here? The mind boggles. Cravings looks like many other strip-mall dining experiences, but don't let that fool you. Even the insides are somewhat modest, but again, you'd be missing out if you failed to enjoy the food these folks are making. The food is fresh. I've been there twice because it's a little inconvenient for me to get to, but the food is tremendous. Somewhat "fast casual", but I'd highly rec. Don't quite understand some of the rare poor reviews, but I have always been attended to well and they do get very busy around lunch hours, so I can see why people get put-off or frustrated by the service. Walk in, get a tray and a roll of silverware, then step up to the line and pick your meat and sides, pick a bread, and pay at the end of the line. Then pick out your seat and they will bring you your drinks and any condiments you may need. The servers are friendly and helpful. You can also order to go, and they have catering as well. It's a small place so I'm not sure how it would work if we got to the end of the line with a full plate and not have an open table. Absolutely hands down in town out of town in yo' mama's, granny's down home country kitchen this place is good. It really needs to be bigger, way too many people go here to be such a small place to accommodate the Sunday crowd. But the food is very good. Pick and choose from the daily specials and I mean they do change every day. Really nice people behind the counter and on the floor. The dressing is da'bombaneeeeee goodness I tried to make this dressing for Thanksgiving but mine never ends up tasting this damn good. Pretty tasty fried chicken, and mac and cheese. Like $7 reasonable. You grab a tray and go to the line and pick out your 'fixens'. The menu changes daily and you can go to their Facebook page to view it. It's usually posted by 10:30am. Lol. I like to preplan. Everything taste homemade. They always have it least 3 breads to choose from (roll, biscuit or cornbread). The baked chicken is my go to with a fried veggie and mac n cheese. This could be a great place. The price and squash casserole already are great. Alas, eating out involves more than smell and taste. This Southern food restaurant has zero Southern charm. The food is served cafeteria style in a vanilla, fluorescent-light atmosphere. No doubt this was a fast-food joint with chairs and tables from a defunct chain eatery. The baked chicken was seasoned and cooked well, but it was one tiny bird. The stewed okra had no seasoning and the collard greens were over salted. Presentation on the food line and on the plate was prison-style. The thing is, it wouldn't take much to push this into a four-star place. It takes effort, though, and no effort was put into the physical part of the restaurant. Based on the casserole, the chicken seasoning and the on-floor wait staff, I'd try it again and would love to see some Southern in this Southern restaurant. read more

On a early shopping trip to Mcdonough on my husband's Birthday, he wanted a new pair of sneakers at Academy Sports so I decided to go with him. He picked out the perfect shoe with his birthday $$. One of the most consistent cafeteria style meat and vegetable places in our area. My favorite is the squash. No onions but full of flavor. One of the few restaurants that I get a vegetable plate at because they have at least 8 choices. They have several meat choices, bread choices and soup, cole slaw and other salads like carrot and raisins plus many homemade desserts choices. Our favorite is the banana pudding. The sweet tea is good. The place is full of Senior, Southern women like me who know what good cooking is and appreciate someone else doing it. The service is fast. The owner is usually there working alongside the sweet waitresses and servers. The prices are good for the fresh, homemade food. You need to know, they closed for awhile after lunch to prepare for supper and are closed on Saturdays. You have to look closely to see their sign as they are on the end of a strip mall. This is very close to my house and one night we decided to call ahead for a pickup of entrees with a side each. Each entree was cold, and the sides were warm. Everything had a good taste, but I was perplexed that all 3 (different) entrees were cold. I had very high hopes and was let down so far. Like I said, everything had good taste, it was just room temperature, but I will give it one more shot. Update: I have been to cravings a few other times since my first experience above and it seems that depending on when you arrive, the availability of warmer food depends on the trays they come from. My mother, daughters, and I stopped by for lunch Monday afternoon following a doctors appointment. We usually dine at the Chinese restaurant in the same shopping center, but I really wanted to try something new. I am VERY happy I insisted on stopping by. The restaurant offers cafeteria style service. You pick a meat, sides, and bread type. They also cook certain meals to order, but I saw everything I was interested in already on the line. I ordered the fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, and corn bread. My daughters had the mashed potatoes and green beans while my mother tried the squash casserole. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. The sweet potatoes were amazing and we all are the chicken down to the bones. I wasn't a fan of the corn bread because it savory rather than the sweet cornbread I prefer. I was still tasty, just not something I would order again. We also had the cherry cobbler and key lime pie for dessert. Both were excellent and I would stop by for the caked, pies, and other goodies any day of the week. Prices are reasonable ($8.40 for a meat, two sides, bread, and a drink). Three adult meals with two desserts cost us about $30 and we all left feeling stuffed. I will be returning there soon because the baked chicken, fish, and other entrees all looked so good that I want to try everything. read more

I was excited to try this restaurant for the first time. It's very close to my home and there are not many home-cooking restaurants nearby. The restaurant is very clean and spacious. Lots of seats for different size groups. The style is cafeteria. You walk down the line and tell the servers what you want. The combo meals include a meet, two veggies, and bread for $7.25. The kids meal also has a meet, two veggies, bread and a drink for $4.75. Knowing this ahead of time, I had planned to let my daughters share the fried fish and two veggies. However, when I tried to order, I was told that the kids plates could only have fried chicken (not baked chicken) or a half piece of country fried steak. None of the other meat options were available for the kids meal. This was a dilemma, as both my girls love fish, and don't get it very often. In the end, I paid more than I want to so we can all eat something we liked. The food was good- home cooking is true. Fried zucchini was very good. Great food and I will definitely be back! It has a diverse atmosphere and everyone is polite and nice. We have been here three times. We placed one order on Door Dash and picked it up. We have tried the meatloaf, fried fish, banana pudding, mac n cheese, corn muffin, biscuit, baked talipia and chicken wings, shrimp, french fries, mashed potatoes and everything was so good we went two days in a row, 7/6 & 7/7.
