Fortunately, I decided to venture down a search into the more local small businesses and came upon this cool old school & quirky shop. I think the gentleman's name was Jim. Older dude that could pass as your nerdy techy friend who's probably collected every tech gadget since the original Tron came out. Told him what I was looking for but I gradually got discouraged as all he was showing me were the bigger style bigger sound units that are common for home systems. But, alas! With a little patience we revealed a new treasure: smaller desk top speakers! Minor speaker mesh stains on the front but super decent with a little TLC. He was super friendly and chill, even making an effort to find parts that could potentially be missing from this set (like compatible power cord). It also came with an amp box that I've got sitting below my desk table, which was a nice surprise (I keep it plugged in for the deeper sounds or just unplugged for more "regular(?)" crispy audio). All that for a really awesome deal; I think it was something like $15-30 or something crazy like that. Good shit, dude! Thank you. If you're looking for small speakers, I probably snagged the last set but I definitely recommend this place for any help with acheiving 2 things at once: reusing/upcycling any sort of old working electronics and supporting a damn good local friendly small business.

Klein Tools, many made in the USA. They have items like a flameless heat gun, which could go well with their contactless infrared thermometers. They stock plenty of datacom cables and parts, routers and hubs, HDMI and other video cables. They also have heat shrink tubing. Don't forget the awesome Elenco Snap Circuits for kids! URS stocks some Spark Fun Arduino and Lilypad Arduino items! They also have LED strips. Those are all pretty useful things you will not find in retail stores in Portland! The universe of electronics parts is huge now, and it is difficult for local suppliers to stock. So their actual parts selection is small. They have blister packed 74xx and the like, and a few bulk resistors, capacitors and LED's. But they are a good place to check if you can't wait on remote suppliers for something you need now!

We were very excited to see that the pricing was not only competitive, but the staff actively looked for ways to save us money. There was never any pressure to upgrade items. In fact there were a few things we had chosen that they suggested we would not need. The owners, family, and staff are all extremely helpful. We set up a time for my daughter to learn to build. Steve (one of the owners) spent several hours helping her one on one. She left with a fully operational computer that she had chosen the parts for and built herself. By the time we left, we felt like we were one of the family! Thank you AMT for giving us such a fantastic experience! A++ for knowledgeable staff, great customer service, quality products, and community support! We will be back.

I had seen AMT's store near the Sherwood post office & took my Possessed laptop in on an information mission. Steve was in the shop that day and was so kind and knowledgeable that I felt comfortable leaving my computer with him. Little did I know at that time that banks send customers who have been hacked to AMT and this type of crime is not uncommon, even in Sherwood. Not only did he save me $$$, but he was generous with information that will help me in the future. Great place, great people.
