Generally I've had good experiences at this store but today was different. I showed up early for my…read moregenius appointment. They checked me in and showed me to a seat. A half hour went by and no one spoke to me to give me an update. There were other people being helped and the Apple employees seemed to be doing their best not to look at me. I had spent a couple of hours trying to fix the problem with my new iPhone and spent 40 minutes with online support trying to solve the problem. They then sent me to the Genius Bar. After waiting 30 minutes past my appointment I decided to leave. The good news was that in that time I kept working on my phone and solved the problem. I'm a genius. I also wanted to get help on the trade in but I decided I could figure out that on my own. A total waste of my time.

I bought a "new" HP Envy Laptop in Januray 2025. The thing started to smell like it was burning and then died on me in September. I sent it in for warranty repairs. Their communication is horrible. They have a service contract that have you sign, which tries to waive all of their liability - espcially for data loss. Since I didn't (and now couldn't) back anything up on this laptop, I line-vetoed everything that waived their liability on the contract. After telling me the turnaround would be two week and having to practically beg them for a month for an update, I finally received the laptop back by Thanksgiving. ALL OF MY DATA WAS WIPED. The service sheet they sent with it said that they replaced my motherboard, thermal past and battery. When I reached out to them about my data loss, the tech told me to pound sand and that my drive was formatted. So, I purchased data recovery software, which found nothing but a bunch of titles of files it found in the OneDrive - useless. After getting Norbert and his manager Alton with the customer service team involved, they then tell me that the SSD was defective and they had to replace it. Everything about this experience was just so daggum stupid. Do not do business with these fools, unless you have run out of ways in life to punish yourself.

Apparently the whole keyboard had to be replaced. Sounds good. Was quoted 150$. Cool. Was told to come pick it up on 3/5 and that it was good to go. Got a call today 3/6 that the laptop would not turn on and apparently the ribbon cable was not connected to the motherboard. He mentioned soldering something and how it would completely break the laptop. He said That three screws were missing and asked if anyone has ever opened it before. No. It has never been opened before. Only used for school work. He said that the motherboard disconnecting was not from him because he went in from the top to replace the keyboard. FYI. Jeff. There is no way to go in from the top of the laptop. After we brought the laptop home and paying 100$ for Jeff to break my laptop we opened it up and it blatantly is visible that he flipped the motherboard over to access the keyboard and that it snapped the ribbon from the motherboard. With having a video of the laptop working fully the night before it makes it obvious that I not only paid 100$ for him to break my laptop but I also paid 100$ for him to lie to me and blame me for something he broke. 0/10 IGN. I know now not to put my faith in humanity again and assume that people have good intentions and will tell me the truth. Now I have to replace my entire laptop costing me 1k. I rteached out via Yelp's request for services because I had a dead laptop that wouldn't stay…read morepowered up for more than a minute and got a reply within a couple of hours. He asked a few questions on model and serial number. Once I explained the symptoms (battery may or may not always charge, etc.) he suggested I do a hardware reset (hold the reset button for 65 seconds using a straightened paper clip). This fixed the issue. He saved me from unnecessarily spending money on a repair I didn't need. You don't see this kind of honesty too often!
