My 13 year old daughter was assigned the intimidating project of building her own school computer. We chose to go to AMT because we figured that although it was likely to cost more than big box stores, we would have the advantage of knowledgeable staff. We were very excited to see that the pricing was not only competitive, but the staff actively looked for ways to save us money. There was never any pressure to upgrade items. In fact there were a few things we had chosen that they suggested we would not need. The owners, family, and staff are all extremely helpful. We set up a time for my daughter to learn to build. Steve (one of the owners) spent several hours helping her one on one. She left with a fully operational computer that she had chosen the parts for and built herself. I've been involved with computers since 1982 (commodore 64 era) and at age 73 prided myself in my knowledge of computers and technical "stuff." Until I was hacked, that is. I had seen AMT's store near the Sherwood post office & took my Possessed laptop in on an information mission. Steve was in the shop that day and was so kind and knowledgeable that I felt comfortable leaving my computer with him. Little did I know at that time that banks send customers who have been hacked to AMT and this type of crime is not uncommon, even in Sherwood. I recently had the hard drive crash on my laptop computer. The laptop would not start up at all. I dropped it off with Steve. He was able to quickly diagnose it and replace the hard drive. He was able to recover all the data from the old hard drive and install it on the new hard drive. The new hard drive is about 4-5 times faster than the old hard drive. The cost was very reasonable. About $ 125 for the hard drive and about $ 75 for labor. The $200 I spent will extend the life of my laptop for several years. It also runs much faster. Steve is really easy to work with. I am relieved to have someone local to help me when I have computer issues. I would recommend them if you are in need of their services. read more

I talked to 4 different individuals about my computer problems, and I had many. They all had a different answer. Everything on the internet had a different solution as well. I was stumped. One problem after another, it eventually drove me to the highest points of insanity. 2 different PC shops later and my issues still persisted. I ended up bringing my desktop PC in to Steve. What a great addition to Sherwood. AMT expertly built a custom computer for St. Paul Lutheran Church here in Sherwood for streaming media. They personally delivered it, set it up, and made sure that our Media Director was fully satisfied, even helped her load and install application software. When my MAC ran out of disk space, AMT flawlessly added 2TB! The knowledge and experience of the crew at AMT is obvious. This shop is amazing! It's just like the indie PC parts stores I used to frequent way back in junior high - the latest and best parts, knowledgeable and curious staff, and a growing community of regulars. Enjoyed seeing kids use the workbench and learn how to assemble their rigs. I thought these kinds of shops were long gone in the age of Amazon Prime, but Steve has brought it back with incredible friendliness and transparency. We must've chatted for 45 minutes about component market craziness on my first visit. I learned a ton about his perspective as a retailer, and it endeared great respect for how he runs the place. I took in my computer for several issues and Steve was able to promptly and professionally diagnose what was going on while taking the time to explain it to me (since I am not very computer literate).
