The first day we arrived to town it was rainy and there wasn't much to do. We decided to head up to the Screamen Eagle for some lunch. Their beers on tap are VERY impressive! Especially being from Buffalo, where we have many bars and restaurants with great craft beers on tap. There were SOOO many options, including local Utica and other Adirondack brewery's beer. The prices were also great at $4, for a craft IPA at 8%. So if you are looking for a good beer selection, by all means COME HERE! On the other hand, if you are looking for good pizza...STAY AWAY! Apparently they advertise themselves as being known for their pizza. Their menu allows you to pick one of their already created pizzas, or you can create your own with many options of different toppings. We decided to create our own and ordered cheese, pepperoni, sweet peppers, and banana peppers. When the pizza arrived it smelled, looked, and tasted like a grocery store frozen pizza. You could tell it was a frozen pizza because it was even served on the cardboard piece that most frozen pizzas come on. Also a dead give away was that all of the toppings were not "adhered" to the cheese. It was evident that our toppings we chose were just placed on top, and not cooked with all fresh ingredients as a whole. We had about two bites at the restaurant, brought back to our cottage for later, and still didn't touch it. We also ordered the "Screamer sub", which consisted of roast beef, hot pepper cheese, onion, hot peppers, and mozzarella. This was absolutely delicious! Toasted perfectly and all of the ingredients melted together for the perfect cheesy sub! Another complaint is that their website doesn't state the hours they are open UNTIL, only the times they open at daily. Being from out of town and here for the holiday weekend, we were extremely disappointed when we returned the next night and were told that they don't serve food past 9:30pm. When I asked the waitress where we could find food past 9:30pm, she said "Honestly, no where". So, if you are from out of town, BEWARE! read more

I would actually love to give this restaurant 2 1/2 stars. It is a solid restaurant for a quick meal with standby basics like pizza.

This is one of those classic, quirky vacation town places. It's a video store/bar/pizza place. Awesome. Don't expect some traditional sit-down experience. You order your pizza and drinks from the counter and wait for your food in the dining area. If you want beer, you just go around to the back and order it separately. They have a ton of beers on tap, and a nice outdoor patio. The dining area is quite family friendly, with a baby crib filled with a random pastiche of toys. The kids liked it, anyway. The pizza is good (try the meat lovers), but the wings are excellent. The drunken Buffalo are probably the best. So, if you're looking for a VHS copy of Turner and Hooch to rent, some good pizza, an impressive beer selection and excellent wings, then this may be the only place on the planet to go. read more

16 beers on tap and fastest free Wi-Fi in the area! Need I say more? There are a few places to eat in Inlet, but this one definitely has the most lively crowd and a good family atmosphere. Order your food at the bar and wait for them to bring it to your table in the bar area or out on the deck. Known primarily for its pizza, the Eagle also has a variety of bar food. If it's deep fried, chances are they have it on the menu. While you wait, check out the archaic VHS rental collection (which the owner swears rent out like hot cakes during summer season). We've ordered a lot of standard bar appetizers. The mozzarella sticks, wings, and shrimp basket were very tasty. The chicken fingers and jalapeno poppers are definitely a pass the next time (no hotness at all in the poppers, and the chicken was rubbery). I've come back here a few times just for the great beer selection and the crispy wings. I think they're even better than nearby Red Dog (known for its incredibly spicy wings). All in all, this place has a decent bar menu and good location right in the center of town. Good for kids, too. Note: Yelp map location is incorrect. This place is on the main drag in Inlet, not Eagle Bay. Last time I tried to correct it Yelp moved the Screamen Eagle to Indianapolis (huh?), so I'm keeping my mouth shut. read more

For a pizza place on 28 in Inlet, NY - not so bad. Best if you eat it there. While you are waiting you can browse the video collection and check out a DVD or two. Pizzas are decent, subs are fair. But of the available options for a pie, it's probably the best bet for the area. read more

Visited the Screamen Eagle for lunch in Inlet and was really impressed! First off, they are one of the few places open year round here. I visited with my family and in total, we had a pepperoni pizza, a meat lovers pizza, fries smothered with cheese, the north country sub, the little italy sub and bourbon wings. I got to try pretty much everything but the little Italy sub - my Mom said it was very spicy. I really liked everything. It was all delicious, especially the smothered fries - I would definitely get those again. The North Country sub was SO good, and the pizza, while nothing different and new, was still very yummy. The wings were alright - a bit too dry, but still edible. There are free refills, which sometimes cannot be found at these restaurants in the area. They have a salad bar, and that is literally it - salad and dressings and a few toppings. People say they think the prices are a bit steep, but living in the Toronto area, this was cheap to me. I really loved the atmosphere and was really impressed. Definitely check this out if in the area! read more

The Eagle looks exactly the same as it did when I first went there 20 years ago as a youngster. That isn't really a good thing, they just seem to stack more and more on top of the old. It is truly an odd collection of items, but I suppose it's how they have stayed in business for so long while other places have come and gone. Pizza, wings, sandwiches, DVDs, lottery, home baked pies, Adirondack artwork, a full service bar and that's just what I had a chance to check out while I was waiting for my food. I love the seating on the deck looking over the canal between 4th and 5th lakes. As for the food, I've only ever had the pizza there and it's pretty good, they load up the toppings, which is good cause ( like most everything in the Adirondacks) it's a bit pricey. The guy next to me said he had never gotten a bad wing there, so check it out, the atmosphere is fun, laid back, kinda feels like a place John Candy would have taken his kids to in the film The Great Outdoors. read more

I have now been here twice so I feel as if I can write a fair review. Food: The wings, fried ravioli, fries and wraps are all pretty good. Pretty good being: average price, expected portion, good flavor. We did not enjoy the pizza. The pizza is undoubtedly made on frozen crust as ours came on a cardboard disk like you typically see under frozen grocery store pizzas. Our pizza was soggy, greasy, had no flavor and almost had too much cheese. Drinks: Awesome beer selection that was seasonal and complete. The cost was reasonable and probably even cheap if you are used to city prices. Glasses come chilled and the menu is listed on a great TV that shows all the details. There appeared to be a wine selection that we did not sample but others did. I did not try any liquor drinks or actually see any liquor, now that I think about it, but maybe it was hidden away somewhere. People: At the bar the bartender/owner? Matt was great. He holds a conversation well, knows about local events, is funny and provides great service. In the dining room our server was competent but it seemed like all the servers were from an Eastern European county and thus had an accent. The locals at the bar made for good conversation and were friendly. Overall: If you are hungry and near by then go, we will be back again during Blackfly next year. So bad I signed up for yelp. I can not find a single thing good to say about this place. Let's start from the top, the restaurant is overcrowded, loud and unpleasant, but because it was raining we stayed, while trying to order drinks the first three we tried they were out of on their constantly updated draft menu, ordered sodas to find that the co2 was unsurprisingly out. Delicious pizza, even better wings. Yes, the pizza is a little on the greasier side, but if you want your pizza sans grease, you probably shouldn't be consuming pizza anyway. The most important thing is that these pies were legitimately the best pies I have ever consumed. The apple pie was just on the tart side, and the mixed berry pie had an amazing sugary crust. Okay, four stars for the buffalo wings.... it was YUM. The pizza we ordered was basic cheese pizza (italian per eagle's menu) and I've had better. The place is big, a little dark and tired looking if you sit in the front part of the restaurant but the back where the bar and outdoor seating is nice. Order and pay at the counter, food is delivered at your table and from there on it's self-serve which I find more laid back and relaxed compared to waiting for your server to ask for the bill or a box for leftovers. read more

This place deserves so much more than 2.5 stars. We come here each year while vacationing. Twice so far this year (In as many days). The pizza and wings are delicious. The beer selection is phenomenal (esp. considering the locale). Sure, there isn't table service. So. What. They're also super friendly; even helped us ensure a wifi connection when we had a fantasy football draft in the middle of our vacation. The wings from this place are out of this world. I'm crazy about wings, and have had them at a lot of places famous for their wings, and Screamen Eagle has the best I've ever had. Just keep on driving. We walked in and there and was not greeted after sitting at a table for 10 minutes. It was obvious that we were not locals and a couple people definitely made us aware of that. I have been coming here every summer for the past 10+ years and not much has changed except the expanded deck. Not impressed. the place is a bar, restaurant, and video rental place all in one...it is also self serve; grab a table, menus are in a bucket on each table, figure out what you want and go to the bar to order the food and soft drinks. any alcohol needs to be ordered at the bar in the back. no wait staff, whatever employee is hanging around gets to bring the food back. we ordered a large fries and a large pizza. the fries were bits and pieces of fries, not whole pieces. the pizza was very greasy, yet bland- and the crust was as hard as concrete. one bright spot- they have a nice beer selection. other than that, go to IGA and buy some Ellio's- it's better than Screamen Eagle !! read more

Screamen Eagle is a great place to get beer and hang out with Friends and family but when it comes to food it is overly priced and not good at all. My husband and I ordered out Pizza and it took for ever to get and also when we got it was soggy and falling a part. It is the only place in town to get food with in miles. You either have to go to 7th lake to get food or Old Forge to get food. From now on I think we will stick to either bringing our own food or go some where else read more

I have been going to the ADK for summers for 18 years at this point, and one of the highlights has ALWAYS been the Screamen Eagle. It was a fun place with amazing pies and they must have been the only video rental game in a 50 mile radius. It has kept the same spirit while evolving. The DVD rental is secondary now, but the back deck is a beautiful place to sit and have a beer, see some local musicians and the fact that there is a place in Inlet NY that has 50 beers on tap should BLOW YOUR MIND. The pizza is thick crust so be aware, but I always enjoy it as a nice change up from NYC thin style pizza. BUT THE PIES- SRSLY go get one now! The wings are also super solid, never dry or over sauced, do not believe the haters in any reviews below. If you don't like Screamen Eagle then you are that guy who shows up to a party and just complains about how it sucks the whole time, and no one likes that guy. read more

Screamen eagle is a must stop for my family and I when we are in old forge. Easily best pizza and wings in the north country. Phenomenal pizza made with just the right amount of sauce and great crust! So many sauces to choose from for wings! We have started trying a new wing sauce whenever we eat here. Came in on July 5th because the establishment advertises 50 beers on tap. Also, we were told the pizza was great. The beer was great...I could tell they clean the tap lines regularly. Fairly priced as well. We ordered fried pickles and the NY pizza. The fried pickles were fine. Nothing to write home about. However, the pizza was awful...horrible...gross. It was definitely a frozen pizza with topping tossed on top. Crust was soggy on the bottom. We didn't order any other food because the pizza was so awful, so I can't comment on anything other than the fried pickles and pizza. Atmosphere was fine. I didn't mind ordering from the bar and grabbing my own napkins and utensils. I don't really like dealing with servers anyway. Come for the beer and the deck...stay away from the pizza. read more
