food was awesome, homemade fries & the fish was cooked to perfection. the tartar sauce was also something special. service was on point especially for a Friday. Ambiance was like a grungy Chicago dive bar. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 outta 5 stars is because they charged me some bs "credit card service fee" which is some BS and I believe illegal. other than that, everything was A1

Nice signs drew my interest to this local watering hole, also known as Scratch on Lake. Cute inside. Decorative, simple and classic British/American Bar. Friendly service. I had a Moscow Mule. Straight forward drink, $16. It is a mixed drink, labeled as such. Clean place. Closes early in the city of Oak Park. The parking is paid until 8pm, then if you stay after 8pm is free , but not overnight. You need to find a nearby paid garage parking for overnight. They are located on a vibrant street. I did not try the food, but they do serve food as well here. This is a beautiful community, right off the CTA Green Line and the Burlington Metra "Oak Park" Exit. Incredible homes around, many places of Worship, vibrant parks. Family friendly city. Nice relaxing bar to stop in and enjoy the time , friendly people.

It looks better than it tastes. Lacks salt, seasoning, and it doesn't even taste like cheese. I'm not sure what kind of watery cheese sauce they use but I had to add my own cheese just to make it somewhat edible. Definitely won't be ordering from there again.

Was downtown Oak Park and decided to try out Scratch on Lake. The restaurant seems to be a local staple to visit and I love a scratch kitchen for fresh ingredients. The inside has a tavern/pub feel to it and they offer daily specials. It was not overly crowded for a Sunday lunch and bears game. We decided to stick to food only and ordered the mac and cheese with bacon as well as the chili mac. Our server was a bit scattered and apologized for the slower service as more people came in after us and a larger grub hub order was placed. It did leave us feeling the front of house and kitchen was understaffed. Either way we were optimistic for our food! While the mac and cheese was delicious, the chili mac felt lacking in the toppings category. Everything did taste fresh but we may not order the same entrees next time. They do offer a 10% discount for cash which made our bill about $20; great price!

Scratch wrap was excellent. Great chicken flavor and the fries are fresh cut, low salt and amazing! Service was ok they were short on staff I was told. The restaurant is nice with a medium sized bar area and plenty of tables.

When I read that Judith had brought in a new Chef I knew I needed to pay them a visit, so I took myself to lunch today. It was the right decision! First, my favorite server, Kyle was handling the entire room and did a great job. He is welcoming, personable and professional, and highly efficient. Everything I look for in a server. Based on my today's experiece I can't say enough about the culinary skills of Chef Stas. I ordered the salmon fillet which was served to perfection. The presentaion was crisp and impressive. The fillet was perfectly cooked with a beautifully thin golden crust on the outside but moist and flaky on the inside, served on a bed of wonderfully seasoned chopped corn, asparagus, peas, and zuchinni. So yummy! Thak you Judith and your team for creating an amazing dining experience. Your efforts are appreciated and never disappoint!

We visited to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday night with a reservation and were seated by the window to our delight. The ambiance in the restaurant is so cozy and rustic, a wonderful vibe. We were first brought Garlic Pesto Bread that was still warm and delicious. Later we ordered drinks and appetizers. Both the Honey Whipped Goat Cheese and Beet Salad were phenomenal and so unique. For entrees we ordered the Beef Tartare, Caesar Salad with Blackened Salmon (an added request), Italian Sausage Orecchiette, and Braised Beef Short Ribs. Absolutely nothing disappointed and everything our waitress Lauren recommended was spot on. She is a rockstar! For dessert we ordered two chocolate mousses, and Crème Brûlée to share. The perfect way to end our night. This is a great upscale date spot or place to celebrate as it is on the pricier side, but we could not have been happier with our food, service, and overall experience.

Walked in to an empty restaurant and asked to sit at the bar. Front of house staff was confused but obliged. Bartender is very overwhelmed making drinks for a table on the patio. I'm in absolutely no hurry, so I wait. Eventually another bartender came over, asked for my order and I asked to see a drink menu. He comes back, I ask him about happy hour specials and he wanders away saying "appetizers...." I pulled up the website and saw that the happy hour is actually really good!!! Half off apps and $8 wine. I order Pinot Grigio, baked goat cheese, and calamari. Here's how it went: -Wine was 100% a Chardonnay. I tried to drink it but I really, really couldn't. -Baked goat cheese. Sauce and cheese had flavor, pesto on the bread did not. Not a huge problem but I did notice. -Fried calamari. SIGH. As rubbery as one can get and kind of tasted like the fryer oil needed to be changed. I packaged it up to go (I think I felt too embarrassed to leave a full plate), but threw it away before I got to the car. All in all, I think it could have been good. Maybe I came on the wrong day? Staffing was weird? A little 'off' from what I would expect from a place with white tablecloths in the dining room.

The meal started with complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered a mezcal margarita (fruta picanta) and my friend got a mango cocktail (mangasa). There were so many great sounding things on the menu, with gluten free and vegetarian options. We ended up splitting the calabaza- an acorn squash stuffed with mushroom risotto and also the wild mushroom tostada. The calabaza was great for winter, warm and filling. The tostada was lighter but really delicious, it was probably my favorite of the two. It was a great dinner, that I would definitely visit again if I'm back in town.
