    Happy hour deals

It's a good place to stop in for a good beer. Tight space but seems like a busy upstairs is open for parties. Could have gotten food, but didn't tempt that idea during our visit. Met the brewer and learned about how he started this as a passion project: but sounded like a place was needed for his hobby of brewing beer. And this is a great place for this dad n husband to enjoy what he loves to do, make beer.

Service is great from Jasmine and the atmosphere is relaxed but friendly. I had a watermelon salad and wings and it was perfect for a hot day. It's close to my house so I'll be back!

Tried out One Lake Brewing finally after I tried to go a few weeks ago but didn't realize they were closed for a private party (the no reservations available should've been my hint). All to say, I do recommend making a reservation to avoid this happening! The restaurant is pretty spacious and on. Friday night, was pretty low-key with minimal parties dining in. The music was low and gave more family friendly vibes. The drink I got I loved, and my friends thoroughly enjoyed their drinks as well. Pretty good for a quick weeknight meal or drink!

Checked out another pretty small brewery. It was close to the train station, making it convenient to get off. One Lake is a pretty low key but pleasant brewery in Oak Park. Beers are the main thing but there's also a limited food menu. There's the bar inside as well as a rooftop. After getting off at the Austin station, we made the quick walk here. It's convenient to get to, so if you're on the CTA take the Green Line. The brewery isn't that big but it's big enough for a gathering or a party. It has the main bar which is where you go in. There's also seating on the rooftop so there should be plenty of room most times. Beers are what it's known for of course. It's about $7 a pint. There's not a huge list but there's variety. I got the Telegraph Hill, a California common. This is a medium bodied beer but not too strong though. As for the food, mostly meaty options. They do have popcorn. It's $4 and better than expected. This is made with Amarillo hops and tossed in a house spice. For sure could come here again. It's convenient to get to by the Green Line. The rooftop is a nice place for hanging when the weather is warmer.

Vibes: Interior is cute! I liked the rustic ambiance of the indoors seating area, but the rooftop was a must. A few blocks from the green line/UP-W made it slightly noisy but was still able to talk over. Beer: solid 7/10 overall. Some big big winners (Czech dark lager, Hazy IPA) and some lackluster (Kentucky Ale) but that's expected with trying new things in the industry. Love that they experiment! Great happy hour deals. Food: Wings were ok, but the burgers were delicious!

Have been wanting to try this place out for so long! And I finally got the chance during St. Patrick's weekend. A great place for a bigger party or a date night on a weekday. The service was excellent, they seated us right away and continuously checked in on how we were doing. The appetizers are the star of the show in my opinion. I could do without the entree options. I wanted to try a little bit of everything. Not a whole lot of variety for non-beer drinkers though. They had sports on and the Simpsons on the TVs at the bar, that was nice. Super excited to go back during warm weather to be seated on their rooftop with all the pretty lights.

Love this rooftop and the Guava cider and food was excellent. Was great that they were able to accommodate our group of 14

Thank you so much for hosting the Brewery Running Series. We have been here before and it was so great to visit again. We met some local runners, enjoyed a great beer and took some burgers to go!

A solid restaurant with some really great beers brewed on site and good food to boot. I got the beer mussels and there's no pictures because I inhaled them before I ever got a chance. Tried three little shorty glasses of their beers and all were really good. Loved the covered rooftop space too, though there's plenty of seating inside as well.

Great food and beer. The burger was really solid, and the mac and cheese was just as good. Would definitely come back.

The flight was around $9 if I recall, which is probably one of the cheapest you can get anywhere. My favorite was the hazy ipa. There's no noisy music or TVs, making you pay more attention to the beers and other drink options. A small place but it still has lots of beers to choose from. It's a pretty nice looking place and there's not a whole lot of room. This place usually isn't that busy though. Mostly because it's not as well known. We came in and tried some beers and snacks. It's about $7 for a pint. That's not bad for a small craft brewery like this. Best one was the Baltic Porter. This had coffee and dark chocolate aromas, with fig and raisin notes, and it was quite strong. A heavy beer at 9.8% ABV. There's bar snacks like cashews at $4 a bag or like that. Come here if looking for a brewery that puts focus on beers and not games. If looking for a brewery where the main thing is beers, this is it. There's only a few snacks but you can bring food in or get it delivered or whatever.

ALES IN COMPARISON…read more The bar formerly known as Brixie's is still a solid place to enjoy a beer. I can't recall exactly how many times I'd given the previous tenant my business over the years, though it has to have been in the dozens. I loved their vibe which could be described as relaxed at best (and dingy at worst), and though the kitchen was no great shakes I appreciated specials on their burgers and pints. Fast forward to 2022, and this place is now exclusively a brewery under the name Imperial Oak. They've also got a location on Archer Ave that I've been to several times. Funny enough, both have 2+ pinball tables and tiny parking lots, however this location on Ogden Ave is much more accessible than the Imperial Oak in Willow Springs. Speaking of pins, their two machines (Simpsons Pinball Party & a retooled Medieval Madness) are $1/game and play beautifully. They've got shuffleboard and some events throughout the month like weekly bingo & trivia. They don't have a kitchen, but sometimes a foodtruck comes in and you can always B.Y.O.F. Bartenders are easygoing; if you aren't feeling an IPA or barrel stout they also have hard seltzers as well as a full bar. The crowd is predominantly locals and after-work peeps. If you can't find a space in their lot, try the angled spots at the Sherwin-Williams next door (just be discreet). * TL;DR * A couple brews, a couple score-based replays on pinball, life is A-OK. Back when this place was Brixie's, it was much quieter and business seemed slow, but I liked it. These days, it's usually bustling with activity whenever I stop by, and that's great news for Imperial Oak. Beer is reasonably priced (Buzz Lite is a delightful honeyweiss for $6/pint) and the taps are varied. I'm switching jobs in the next few weeks, so the odds of me coming through here again are slim but I'll always keep them in mind should I find myself in the Brookfield area. I'd recommend Imperial Oak, for sure.

We had children with us and asked for their menu items to come as fast as they could. However, the server was extremely short with us and didn't even bring drinks quickly. While the restaurant was not very busy, it too a very long time to get our food - especially one in our group who didn't get food until almost everyone else was done. The food itself was ok, but I would say that nothing was exceptional - somewhat bland entrees and lacking originality. Could be what we ordered...as I know many people find the food here to be quite good. The prices are reasonable for the area but I was disappointed with the general unfriendly service and time to receive food. I've been here previously and we had a somewhat lackluster meal that time also. The previous time, they were pleasant enough but food was only ok - entrees were not very hot when we received them. All in all, there are friendlier spots in the area.
