My honest recommendation to you...
***DO NOT USE SCOUT TO MANAGE YOUR PROPERTY***
***DO NOT RENT OR LEASE A PROPERTY FROM SCOUT***
I first looked at homes with Agent Ben S. At first, they seemed all on the "up and up," with no apparent issues. I looked at a lot of properties...and one day, I saw on Apartments.com, the new home of my dreams - the perfect adobe - and I was THE FIRST QUALIFIED APPLICANT. In fact, I applied within the first minutes that it was posted on Apartments.com. My Agent was Lombardo (supposedly a "Senior Agent"), who incidentally would not even return my calls...AFTER I threw down a cold $50 on the application!! He would not return the first call, would not return the second call, would not return the third call...FINALLY, I had to email info@scoutpropertiesdc.com, to let someone at the company know I just paid to apply and am being straight ghosted??!! That's what it took to get the "Senior Real Estate Agent, Lombardo" to call me back. I was qualified, was the first applicant...and remember, I could not get a call back AFTER dropping half a C-note. Well, then, after I was approved - I get a message asking me to produce a letter from my Landlord confirming payment of rent over the last 3-5 years, on the Landlord's corporate letterhead, ok - this is a multi-million dollar INC...if not a multi-billion dollar corporate landlord (my last apartment, from whom Scout wanted the letter). I let Scout know immediately that I'd get them the letter, and I arranged to move out and got money equal to my security deposit paid back (alot to do in short time...but I did it). Again, we are talking about asking a major corporation to produce a letter of confirmation of paid rent...WHICH I DID. Ultimately, Senior Agent Lombardo of SCOUT DC Properties, gave me a few hours - yes, like 2-3 hours to produce the letter - which is totally not feasible. I got them their letter, but it took a couple days. In fact, as I told them I would, I also made arrangements to move out, got my funds back from the old landlord, and an exit agreement was made by my counsel for me, and myself and my old landlord signed and I was bound to move out. After checking my email, I saw Scout (Lombardo) had given me just 2-3 hours to produce the letter, and then they dumped me and went with applicant's...they literally got a bidding war going over a parking place that was $150.00 (I don't drive and surely won't be paying for a parking spot when I am about to pay 3k for rent); the Lease was awarded to the ":highest bidder," and ILLEGAL PRACTICE in Washington, D.C.
AGAIN FOLKS, BREAK OUT THE TEN FOOT POLE AND KEEP AWAY FROM THESE GUYS...they are a really bad bunch. read more
