Scotty showed up at the scheduled time and located the issue. It turned out to need a specialize part that he did not have in stock, but he was able to locate one quickly and returned to complete the work in a timely manor. read more

I have used Scotty several times throughout the years and he is always so helpful and looking out for my best interest. We arrived at our cabin and the water pipes were not working. I called Scotty to come out and he gave me a few ideas to try first to avoid a weekend service charge. He was right on and I was able to get it fixed. So grateful to have someone I can trust to call. read more

I made an appointment with Scotty in the morning to come look at my heater since it wasn't working. He said he would be able to come at 4pm, but to be safe, gave me a 3-5pm window. 5pm comes around and I call him to see if he's close. He tells me that he's still busy at his other location. I tell him that we need the heater on since the downstairs is extremely cold in Big Bear Lake (especially in January!). He says he'll do what he can. I get a message less than an hour later saying he won't be coming. I really wish he was more honest about his availability. If he knew he couldn't come, tell me earlier and I might have been able to get someone else! In fact, I got a call from another hvac when I was calling around, but told him I already made an appointment with Scotty. read more

Peter Crawford plumbing or Scotties plumbing. Least skilled and Most expensive plumber on mountain. Carl's and sons or Bear Valley plumbing might be a better option read more

Peter Crawford, dba "Scotty's Plumbing & Heating," was my go-to person for plumbing problems. He was prompt, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. Now, there is an additional charge for "travel time" to Fawnskin, at the same rate as any repair or installation work. The extra 40 minutes for travel, charged as labor, seems unreasonable to me. On the plus side, he still responds quickly and gets the job done. But $275 in labor to light the water heater pilot and replace a toilet float and flapper seems a bit steep. Would you agree? read more

Great service! I needed a leaking toilet fixed and my old heater needed repair. They fixed the toilet immediately and diagnosed the issue with heater shortly after. Unfortunately the fan in the heater wasn't available anymore but Scotty's purchased and installed a new unit within a couple days in perfect time for my winter vacation. The crew was personable and professional and I would definitely recommend. read more

Do not, repeat, DO NOT use this company. If I could leave a "Zero Star" I would. In late June of this year (2024) I called several Plumbers in the Big Bear/Surgarloaf area for an estimate to install a new kitchen faucet. The prices ranged from $100 - $350 (service call, removal and installation). I selected "Scotty's Plumbing and Heating", who quoted me a price of $175 (middle of the road based on estimates). His Service Technician arrived and during the installation, stated he needed to purchase New Valves. He walked to his truck and returned a short time later, stating he found the replacement valves in his truck. At the conclusion, I asked for the bill. He called his boss/owner ("Peter"), stating I owned "$275.00". I related his boss quoted me $175.00. I called "Scotty's Plumbing and Heating" and spoke to the owner, "Peter". He said he needed to charge me for the "Service Call". I again replied, I'm only paying $175.00 as quoted. Peter replied, "Ok. Let's make it $200". I stated No, $175.00. Peter eventually accepted that price and I paid with a personal check. On the next day, I discovered the faucet was installed incorrectly (I have a swivel head to cover a double sink and the faucet only turned one way). I had to wait three days for the same Service Technician to come back to my house to correct the problem. Two weeks later, my wife discovered a leak under our sink. I called "Scotty's Plumbing and Heating" and spoke with the owner, "Peter". Peter said he was on vacation in Hawaii, and it would be another four days before he could come back to my home. Peter stated, "You probably need "New Valves", at an additional cost of approximately $250.00. Peter refused to replace the valves for free or even negotiate the price. We did not want a Mold problem, so I called another plumber to have the leak resolved. A local, reliable plumber arrived at my home within an hour, quickly discovering the issue. When "Scotty's Plumbing and Heating" Service Technician installed the "New Valves", he failed to install "Washers", which caused the leak. This was an additional expense of $200.00 (service call and parts). I sent "Peter" a copy of this New Bill, asking for an adjustment on my bill of $175.00. It's been over six weeks, and I have not heard from "Scotty's Plumbing and Heating". This company in my opinion, is a rip off - They do inadequate work, don't honor their quotes or compensate for their mistakes. read more

Scotty's is the best! In mountain communities, there are a lot of lazy contractors, but not Scotty's!! They're on time, professional and get the job done. I strongly recommend them for anything construction and plumbing related! read more

They came out to fix a leak for our washer hookup. The leak was fixed for about 2 days. I tried calling many, many times but his voicemail is full and the 2 times I was able to get ahold of him he told me he'd stop by but never did. The visit was $150 for 2 minutes of work, which would have been fine if the leak had gotten fixed but now it's much worse. read more

I gave one star because i could not give less. DO NOT RECOMMEND this company. They are thieves with a license. Most contractors are in Big Bear!!!!!! I recommended them to a friend and left me looking bad. The estimate was between $3600-$4000 and received a bill for $4579. WOW huge difference. I did complain and they did lower it to $4200 makes you wonder how much they are really profiting from their jobs!!!!????!!!!!!!!!?????????!!!!!!!!!???????? DONT HIRE THEM!!!!!!!!! read more

I got stood up there is other way to put it...he asked for pictures I sent them...told me he would make my plumbing issue look brand new...had he just told me he were busy I would have moved on to the next plumber that reached out to me on Yelp...I have a vacation home & not local so I drove up there today but left...text him later I don't want yo bug so I text him that I wouldn't be up there and that I would let him in with a code...I was a bit thrown off because he was a nice guy...hate to give him this bad review but just being truthful. If you need a reliable plumber that keeps his word I would say skip this business and try another. read more

We weren't sure what we were going to get being that it was late on a holiday weekend. But after many unanswered calls to supposed 24/7 companies, Scotty's picked up and was able to be at our cabin within an hour. Joe arrived with a pleasant attitude despite the hour of our emergency call and fixed our leak that would have otherwise left us stranded without water for the remainder of the weekend. We plan on using Scotty's again for future routine maintenance and are also so happy that we have found "our plumber" up the mountain! read more

Very fast reply to my call offering quick self-repair options while setting up a same-day respond. Then provided a "pro tip" that ultimately worked and allowed me to cancel the visit. When you need a plumber for same day service they are the only ones to call ,very detailed on there work.

Doing business is easy when things go well... However I strongly believe that the true integrity of an enterprise comes through via challenges. We bought a home that we later learned had serious mainline issues including heavy tree roots and clogging. Not only did the complex nature of our issues create unexpected difficulties, but while repairs progressed Scotties also experienced major equipment failure... Not a fun scenario for any business. However throughout it all they remained professional, trustworthy, and kind. They worked with us to resolve all of our issues and ensured that we were satisfied with every aspect of a very difficult job. It doesn't get any better than this folks... read more

I had a shower backed up and called Scottys. They came out right away but had to come back in the morning when it was light out. They showed up on time and went right to work. We had a great experience with Scottys plumbing! Our upstairs shower was leaking into our downstairs kitchen so we called bear valley plumbing and Scottys, bvp never got back to us and thankfully they didn't because Jo from Scottys plumbing came out right away and took care of the problem. Scotty's is dependable, reliable, and available! We had a plumbing emergency in our cabin and Scotty's handled it quickly and quietly, our guests were impressed and we were grateful! We own another rental property with two units and on the first freeze of the season, both heaters fail. Again, Scotty's Plumbing saved the day, installing two new altitude certified heating units, our tenants were impressed and we were grateful! We had tried some other companies before we found Scotty's and were either disappointed by the work or had to wait up to two weeks for service. Now that we have found Scotty's, we know we're in good hands and are grateful that we can count on Scotty's to take care of our properties for us! We highly recommend Scotty's Plumbing! read more

Our heater quit working and the house grew cold. I called Scotty's and I went to work leaving my wife to greet him. After totally messing up our programed thermostat, Scotty found a bad part in the heater. It needed to be replaced, and luckily he had one on his truck. So in it went and the heater worked fine. He told my wife that the repair was $245 so she wrote a check and asked for a receipt for our records. "Wait. Don't make it out to me or Scotty's but make it out to xxxx (somebody else)." Odd, but ok. She again asked for a receipt and he said he'd drop it in our mailbox tomorrow. ??? It didn't show up. I called him the next evening and he said he would drop it in our mailbox tomorrow. Nope. So we never found out what part he put in or what his labor rate was to justify the $245. Bottom line is he fixed it but we have no receipt and no warm fuzzy about the transaction. We won't be using him again. read more

Scotty's Plumbing saved me over $3,000 dollars!!! I had another Plumber come and give me a quote to replace my Tankless Water Heater. They quoted $6,500... A great shoutout to an amazing company. While visiting up in Big Bear we found a leak under the cabin. Of course it's a weekend, but having used this company a year before, we were hoping they could help again. Called early and Joe, one of the friendliest and helpful guys, answered. YES he could come by as soon as he finished a few other jobs!! What a great guy. Can't say enough for the happy attitude and helpfulness. He did an awesome job quickly, while underneath he found another problem and took care of everything. Reasonable cost too! I wish there were more like him down the mountain! read more

I called them 3 times to come fix my heater and said they would, flaked out every time, terrible service in my opinion

Scotty is dishonest, cuts corners, does not finish work started, and has no problem using extortion tactics to get money from you for incomplete work. Scotty's plumbing was contacted by John Corey from Boulder Bay Real estate to detect a possible leak in our cabin while we were out of town. I asked multiple times for a bid for repair and was given the blow off by Scotty. The next thing I hear, is that the job had been completed much to my surprise! The bill was over double of others bids for the same work, and he did not repair the driveway that he cut to install water line. Not only that, but he never bid the job as required under his license, never called USA (underground service assessment) never pulled a city permit, as required, and threatened to place a Lien in escrow to get paid. John Corey is in cahoots with this guy and worked against us on this as well. NEVER use either of these people as they are as crooked as the mountain road used to drive up to BB. Ca Contractors License board is after him as well as the Board of Realtors for John Corey. read more

I can't brag enough about Scotty and scotty's plumbing.scotty is just a wonderful man and he has a great sense of humor and hes also a fantastic plumber.he's very fair and worth every penny of the work he performs.he has replaced both my toilets up here for $1250 Well bear city plumbing and big bear air employment both quoted me at three thousand dollars for the exact same job.scotty stands by his work and when I didn't like one of my toilets he came over and gave me a new one.it was no problem.whenever I need scotty he shows Up.he just finished fixing my friend heads hitting system that bear Valley heating and plumbing installed and then refuse to stand by their work.so Scotty came in fixed the dog do work that they did and replace the motor in the heating system That should have been under warranty with this other company.please be worn that bear valley heating employment and bear valley heating and air are two companies that work hand in hand Up here to grossly overcharge customers, and to leave them stranded in the Winter with no heat when the work they do fails completely.they told my friend Ted that the 1st day they had free to give him 5 minutes of their time which January 20th he called them 2 days ago.if they had their way my friend would be found dead frozen to death at HIS house.i went and spent the evening with him When is house had no heat and it got down to twenty seven degrees. And if I had an insisted he come to my house for refuge he would have insisted on staying in this unheated house and he literally could have died.thank you scotty.thank you for always showing up and doing such a fantastic job and always having such a great smile on your face and making a sloth and thank you for everything you do because we love you so!!!! I'd have to say i've been appear for five years now in scotty is the only reply reliable plummer and guy who can do heating on the whole mountain.he's the only one that won't rob you blind.he's the only one who will not try to grossly overcharge you and he's the only one that will stand by his work. I just like to add that the other companies up here doing plumbing and heating or not only encompetent but they're also run by a bunch of racists who think that it's good business practice to rob, embezzle and over charge the client. I wonder what businessman they learned that disgusting practice from? I think it's the same business man that the fraud did a bunch of American students out of 67 million dollars worth of education.shame on these companies up here that prey on poor people and senior citizens.you should be ashamed of yourselves and you guys should be put on a business.and people like Scotty who Run scotty's potty they should Be given in award for The Way they Take Care of the community up Here Period scotty is the best plumber and the best heat guy and he's just an all around wonderful human being. read more

Upon discovering that mice had eaten the power cord to my cabin wall heater, I called the company that installed the heater in 2008. First of all, I had to negotiate their woefully inefficient communications system. Once I got the ear of a human being, I was told that they would come out, diagnose the system and give me an estimate! I told them that I didn't have a system, I had a "WALL HEATER" and all it needs is a new power cord. Still being given the run around I decided to Call Scotty's. The Owner returned my call on his cell phone. He understood immediately that all I wanted and needed was someone to install a new power cord! Since I am getting older, I couldn't really install it myself (Can't see what I am doing and it's really painful to be lying on the floor trying to complete such a task!) Joe came out, I handed him the power cord that Scotty recommended I buy at Butcher's Block Hardware Store and the job was completed in a few minutes, including a brief test of the heater and fan! Sure I had to pay a reasonable service/response charge, but it was better than the couple of hundred bucks I was quoted by the other folks! Thanks Scotty's. read more
