After about 3 years of going here, I think it's time I review these guys. I've been to all the…read morehydro stores in the desert and was frequenting all of them in search of the best deals for whatever items I needed. Hydroponics is expensive in general, so penny pinching is a must, but I quickly realized Mo and Chris only charge a slight amount over invoice, on everything. I'm not left guessing if I can get a better deal here or there, it all just ends up being what's fair. Some of the other guys have memberships that afford "deep discounts" but it's disingenuous at best. I also don't feel like the other stores really care about their customers. When I come into this store, I'm always warmly welcomed and I'm pretty sure Mo remembered my name after 1 visit. I think I bought something small too, so that means he took time out of his day to remember me for nothing. On numerous occasions these guys have helped me out in other ways as well. Nothing I'll get into here because it's above and beyond what should be normal customer service and I don't want people trying to evoke this kind of thing from them. However, trust me when I say, if you're loyal to them, they will reciprocate double. One of the reasons I went other places was the selection, they didn't have too much from Heavy 16, however, they are able to order it pretty damn quick and have it on the counter for me without asking the minute I come chirping. Cheaper than the guys that supposedly carry this as a house brand. I'm not sure how that works, but I won't complain. All in all, this is a very friendly, knowledgable, and competitively priced place to go. You guys have my business for as long as I have a garden.

Goodbye Home Depot, hello Cal Herbold's Nursery! After eight years in the high desert, I finally…read moregave it a try. It's much bigger and has more variety than it appears from the street, with costs being comparable. So nice to have a local nursery like the good ol' days. Went here for the first time today and after the rock guy asked if I needed help, he directed me indoors. Gal working register was kind enough to help me find edible plants for my sulcata tortoise. Including sod, woo hoo! Exactly what I needed. I will be flushing the plants and sod with diluted vinegar then water for a few days, but I know my boy Neptune will be thrilled when he sees them in his enclosure. Once done shopping, another guy hopped off his tractor to come help load the car. Now is that respect for your elders and great customer service or what? Thanks to all for your help. I will indeed be back!

I was very disappointed in her lack of giving a darn! Mike... Your place of business is much better than that. In the past I have done lots of business with you and your staff has always been polite and attentive. The other employees were cheerful and kind. I expected at least a timeline as I have other people involved in this project that have lives too that I need to inform to get scheduled. Still upset..! M Nelson

The employees at the nursery have "inadequate knowledge" (Lance) and should not be trusted to…read morerecommend plants or trees to you. I spent over 4 THOUSAND dollars at this nursery, over the course of two days. I told both employees who helped me that I knew a general idea of what I wanted, but I didnt know enough to be trusted to pick things that would work on my property. I told them that I live in a cove, where we can experience wind as high as 50mph regularly, I told them I was looking for something that was drought tolerant, could handle full direct sunlight, and could brace and survive against high winds. I also provided other small details about my property, and the the purpose the plants would serve. I purchased the recommendations of the staff there and several weeks later, every single plant is dead. I asked how to care for the plants and I watered them as instructed. I called and talked to Lance, and he told me that it was my fault. He told me that the employees have inadequate knowledge and I should habe relied on my own research. He blamed the wind and heat, and told me I must not have watered them properly, even though I watered using instructions provided by staff on site. He told me that the plants they sell are suited for the local climate, even though not one plant or tree purchased from this surgery survived. I do not recommend shopping at this establishment. If you need plants or trees, purchase them at The Home Depot. They have a one year warranty on plants; a warranty Ive never had to use for plants purchased there. The staff at Oak Hills Nursery should not be making professional recommendations to customers, and should be making their lack of knowledge known to customers to establish reasonable expectations; however they failed to so this and it cost me 4k.
