I rented an electric floor grinder for $160 for 24 hrs. I used it for 2 hrs. and made very little progress on the floor grinding. I called the rental yard to ask them if they had a more aggressive grinding wheel. The guy on the phone said they had a more powerful machine that normally rents for $225 for 24 hours but he said they would give me a better rate than the $225 if I wanted to swap the machines. So I loaded up the elec. floor grinder and went back to the rental yard. Eric, the guy at the counter showed me the gas version of the same grinder and said it had more power so it should do a better job. Eric even let me test the gas grinder on some concrete. I agreed to swap the elec. grinder for the gas grinder. As Eric and I were walking back into the office Eric said he would keep the rate at $160 and extend my return time to 4 p.m. I thought that was awesome. When I returned the machine at 4 p.m. on the next day they charged me $225. I told the guy at the counter that Eric told me he would only charge me $160. When the counter guy asked Eric, Eric said no I said I wouldn't charge you for the elec. machine and would charge you $225 for the gas one. What he remembered saying and what I heard him say was two seperate things. Ok, I have no proof of what I heard him say so I said what about the guy on the phone who told me they wouldn't charge me the $225 and that they would give me a better rate? Eric asked the other guy about the phone conversation and that guy remembered the phone conversation but he said he never said anything about the price. Basically both of the employees made me feel like I was just lying to get a better price. It was embarrassing. I know what I heard but I told them I was not about to argue about who said what and that I would just pay the $225. I'm writing this review because I don't want other customers to experience the same treatment. If an Apex employee verbally offers you a better deal get their name and make it very clear before you rent their equipment. Maybe even get them to put the better offer in writing because they apparently forget their verbal deals. read more

I rented a John Deere tractor from them, they delivered it , we used it for three days, the fourth day it wouldn't run without black smoke billowing out the exhaust. My operator wrote a note to me and left it on the machine. I arrived to use it for the fifth day and I had the same problem as my operator had. I called apex to let them know there was a problem and they said they could send someone out to look at it. I had my tractor there and told them that I would finish the job with my tractor which we had been using at that job. I lost two days work because of the way their tractor was running. They charged me over 1600 dollars for the rental and claimed the problem was water and rust in the fuel. I used the same tanks to fuel both machines and don't have a problem with my tractor. The tanks I used to fill the machines are plastic. So, I asked if when they drained the tank( they charged me for 25 gallons of diesel fuel also ) did they also service it.? He said yes. I asked would that include servicing the air filter? He said yes. The only reason a diesel will blow out black smoke is if it's getting too much fuel and not enough air( dirty air filter) The rust they claim was in there must had already been there, and the water they claim was in there couldn't have been there. I'm sure as with most diesels theirs has a water separator on it. Rust and water in the fuel huh? I call bullshit but their 28 year old customer service manager told me " too bad " I wouldn't rent from them again due to the fact they are lying about what made that tractor run like a piece of crap. Any water or rust must have been there already. A clogged air filter would be the reason for black smoke to billow out of the exhaust. Too bad for me , I'm out over 1600 dollars for a machine I could only use three days. I welcome a call or email from them again. Then I can tell them how I only used plastic cans to fuel it up. Alonzo is either lying or making up a story because any rust or water in that system was there when they dropped the machine off. They probably only change or clean the air filter after so many hours and hadn't done it before I rented it. Too bad for me as I was told. You would think an established business like apex would treat their customers better. They'll never have my business again and I'll let as many people as I can know about my rental experience. read more

Extremely happy with this place. Called to verify I could get propane in my RV and they said no problem , just come in. When I pulled in the employees came out very fast to move some equipment out of the way ( thank god its my first time getting it filled ) and filled the propane quickly. I am staying in my RV while house gutted. I thought I was out of propane and after running around for an hour it was 4:57 pm when I was referred to them and they close at 5 pm. I called and pulled in with two mins to spare. Most companies would say come back tomorrow but not them. I got my propane-hot water and heat!! Thank you. Couldn't be more disappointed in Aaron's customer service. Asked to speak to someone else and was told it's a corporation this is all I get. Either he needs more training for a management role or needs to be replaced. Scheduled delivery over a week ago and failed to mention they weren't able to deliver until after scheduled time. Called to see how to resolve issue and told me nothing they can do. Didn't try to save face or make up for the mistake. Companies make mistake and I'm well aware of that. Not happy with my experience. Went in and described the job I had ahead of me (1 1/2 acres of grading, soft sand, brush/sage brush removal). Was lead to a Kubota Tractor and was my understanding it would be sufficient. Spent the majority of my time trying to dig out the tractor, stuck on brush, and unable to move a bucket of dirt as it proved to heavy for the tractor. Spent 200+ for the day rental and accomplished nothing as I couldn't get around in the soft dirt, tractor overheated, and it just struggled with clearing and grading.. Mentioned this to the workers and was told I may need to go to Johnson Cat Rentals.... Would have been nice to know beforehand. Stay far away from the 30hp Kubota if you have more than just scraping the ground or moving light material from one place to another... Down 200+ with the same job ahead of me. read more

Good value for rental tractors compared to Home depot. I rented a mid size tractor with a front end loader and a box plow on the back and fixed up my yard and driveway after a season of rain storms. It was way more economical to do this than hire a local tractor guy who charges by the hour with ridiculous delivery costs. Yes I had to do the work myself but what guy does not like playing with a new big mechanical toy while saving money to do a job that had to be done?! I will be back for sure for any future tractor needs. read more

I called and made a reservation on Thursday to rent a dump trailer for Saturday morning right when they open. Friday at closing the sales man calls and says he has a costumer that needs the trailer in the morning now can I rent it later in the day? I said I need it first thing in the morning. He said ok. Well Saturday morning Im there just before opening, go in pay for the trailer come out to hook up and the yard guy is saying they wont hook up to me! The guys in the yard were just a$$e$$. I had a one ton dually with a 10,000 lbs hitch on it. made me get a refund (which as I'm writing this a week later I am still waiting on the refund in my bank account to go through.) I think the yard guy who had the attitude already rented it out to the guy they called me the night before about. Probably a buddy deal. Well I had to use just the bed of my truck to haul broken concrete to the dump 11,000 lbs multiple trips Hand load and hand unload. I ordered two tie rods. I opened the box. One was in it. I spent two days on the phone with the parts department. The first day, on the third try after leaving two messages with a human being, I reached the parts department. The parts department worker made it VERY clear to me that going to lunch in 10 minutes was far more important than helping me. The worker again made it VERY clear I might not be able to get to help today. When I called later in the day, my inquiry had not been worked on and if was not done today, the latest I would hear back was first thing in the morning. I was promised a thorough investigation of why this company had not provided me with more than $100 in merchandise. I followed up that afternoon after not hearing from the company "first thing in the morning". The worker summarized the investigation and many shortcuts were taken from the plan we had discussed prior. The company was in complete denial that a mistake could have been made. At this point, I requested a refund. I was told the company would get back to me on this. I heard nothing. To summarize, this company sent me a box that had half my order in it, I spent two days trying to get a position from the company so that if they were not going to live up to there end of the deal, I could order one from a reputable company. By the way, if you want to order Kubota parts, I strongly recommend Coleman Equipment. Fast and honest service with excellent communication every step of the way was my experience. I was denied I refund I was entitled to with a company called Stub Hub. It was for a similar amount of money. When the executive at Stub Hub realized that I had a lot more time than money, he he restated that he did not want me to execute the plan I told him I would follow to get the refund and gave me the money. It is clear to me that this company made an honest mistake or it has a thief, or incompetent worker on its staff. If this company wants to be in complete denial that it made it a mistake on this sale, I expect to continue to seek a refund. I reported this incident to the Better Business Bureau (the company's response is based on usual practices with no proof they sent it) and the State of California. The State of California referred me to the Washington State Office of the Attorney General, which is my next step. I was once very fond of Hesperia in the 1980s. I have not ruled out small claims court as I have a home in Arizona and it would easy enough to set up a court date on my way between here and there. I've rented tractors from several places in the past for my acreage. This place was the easiest place as far as scheduling, availability, and customer service. The customer service was great. I made a mistake and hit a lever after unloading the tractor. Called Apex to troubleshoot the problem, within about a minute they had me set up over the phone. I needed a trailer to pick up astroturff from Temecula. My rhino trailer wasn't cutting it. So I called apex they said they had a trailer for me and If I got it back by 5pm i got 10% off . Score. Picked it up, they hooked it up for me, told me a trick how to back it up, drive normal, make wide turns, and I was good. Did all these things worked like a charm. I did not know however there was a super 100 dollar deposit, wasn't told over the phone. It wasn't a killer just shocked. ;÷).
