I really had high hopes for this one. It was our anniversary and we love trying new places. I've seen posts everywhere that they just renovated, but I can't find what looked new. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant didn't have many people when we arrived. There was 1 couple at a small table and a party in a "private" room. We were seated directly in-between both of these. Didn't make for a romantic anniversary dinner with the older couple coughing, sniffling and making sucking noises. (I'm thinking they had something in their teeth and they kept trying to remove it?) Then the party in the room was loud and the doors to the party room were left open. With the restaurant so empty, I don't know why we weren't seated somewhere more private. Drinks were pretty good. My husband was told the wine he first ordered was out. He liked the second choice he made, once it finally arrived. There was a wait to receive everything we ordered. Drinks took forever. Our poor server was trying. I saw him WAITING at the bar for the bartender to finally pour our drinks. Food - Calamari was pretty good. It is a very small portion, but enough for an appetizer for 2 people. I really wanted the sea bass, but I didn't want it with the veggies that were supposed to come with it. I asked if they could substitute for brussel sprouts and sauteed spinach. Our server wasn't sure so he asked if I'd still like it if they can't. I told him if they wouldn't substitute, then I'll have the salmon with those sides. My dinner arrived and it was the salmon. They would rather me pay for a less expensive meal than substitute sides for the more expensive meal. I find that odd. My husband ordered the scallops. They were cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, his risotto and asparagus were ice cold. He had to send it back. (That's not something he normally does, so I know it was bad.) My food wasn't piping hot, but it wasn't cold either. It at least tasted good. They kept apologizing for the wait, and offered my husband a free glass of wine. He accepted and they brought the carafe over with it and poured it into what he still had left. It wasn't the same wine! They now mixed 2 completely different wines and my husband said it tasted funny. He didn't even finish it. There was nothing offered to celebrate our anniversary. Everywhere else we've been offers you a free dessert. Nope. Not here. Dessert was offered, but not for free. We declined and said we were full. It was also almost 2 hours of being here and we were done. This experience does not make us want to return or recommend to anyone else. The reopening of Scott's is a truly amazing experience. The food is exceptional. It has improved and is simply delicious!!!! Came here Saturday night. The price are a bit high but the quality of delivery is amazing. We came here to celebrate an occasion which was superb. The food was delicious and a five rating. The disappointing thing was forgetfulness of orders and having to remind service staff of orders for drinks and food. Loved the music and of Scott coming to say hello. read more

Slow service. Out of a few items on menu including 2 cocktails. The Ahi Tuna appetizer was delicious. The dinner bowl had fish topped but the fish had a very strong smell. Came here for a wedding rehearsal dinner took over an hour to get food. We made reservations before hand telling them how many would be in the party and even then we had some people leave. Waiters were rude and made small comments about us asking about the food after over an hour of waiting and made it seem like asking for bread was a nuisance. A waiter with square glasses and with braided hair was very short and rude with everyone especially the two children that were being good even after the wait for food. Stopped by at 4:30 to check it out for a possible Saturday evening meal. Although they were closed at that moment, we were greeted by Ashley at the door. She showed us their dinner menu which looked scrumptious and reasonably priced. We were informed that they had just started serving evening meals following a recent makeover of the venue, including an outdoor spot and an upstairs event space. The ambiance was quite inviting and I spied a very nice looking surf-n-turf on the menu, which will be first up when we return. Never been my favorite and Scott yelling at his staff can be heard around. Not improving the experience. Been there numerous times. Lamb lollipops and the bacon are good. Had rank sea bass there on one occasion and when we told the server we were treated like we did something wrong all I can say is you eat it and I will pay for it. I held a corporate lunch here and the staff, food, and location were amazing. My expectations were exceeded. Ashley and Scott were also incredibly nice and flexible when I had to reschedule the lunch due to the snowstorm, even though they didn't have to. On a whim the family and I ended up in quaint little downtown Gainesville Ga. Scott's showed up on yelp. As a "promising place" for dinner. First impressions, staff was welcoming and attentive. Our server as excellent, minus forgetting our silverware for a good portion of our meal. Then there's "the meal" for a steep ticket of $145.00 We were served mediocre food. That was more than likely a "heat and serve" from Sysco or Performance food. (Yeah) even a rookie like myself knows the in's and out of a restaurant kitchen. There was no sparkle "no wow" factor...nothing home-made that would make me wanna go in and give the chef my gratitude. It was a very basic, meal, with very little flavor. We've lived in Gainesville for 6 years and had a weekend lake place here for three decades and never been to Scott's. I'm so glad we finally went for my birthday! Absolutely the best steak I've ever had. Great mixed drinks, wonderful side dishes and fantastic desert. The service was also spot on. Let's start with a disclaimers: It was prom night or something because there were groups of young people in formal wear, and maybe that affected service. Additionally, we didn't complain or ask to speak to a manager so they had no opportunity to "make it right". We sent back no food although in retrospect maybe we should have. That being said, enough things went wrong that we probably will not be coming back. This was intended to be a date night however the sitter backed out last minute so we also had a third wheel in tow. The restaurant allowed us to increase our parry size and also move the reservation up an hour which was very nice of them. Our third wheel... I mean child... has a severe egg allergy. Not "call an ambulance" but within a few minutes of eating any egg product will projectile vomit. We always notify our server and ask to check the foods. We got the green light and were off to the races. For appetizers we ordered the crab dip and lamb lollipops. The lollipops were the best thing we ate all night. Very good! The crab dip was pretty good... but our child threw up within a few minutes. Come to find out the dip had mayo in it (egg whites). Needless to say this put a damper on the rest of the meal. They did comp the dip which is probably the bare minimum response as food allergies are very serious. My wife ordered the Chilean sea bass... her favorite fish. What came out did not seem like CSB. It was thin, not really flaky, and didn't have the sweetness you find with CSB. Maybe it was frozen or maybe it was the redfish they had on special. On top of that the fish was REALLY salty. And it was on a bed of spinach that was REALLY salty. Contrast that with the mashed potatoes that seemed to have zero salt. The risotto just seemed like rice+cheese, the grits were just okay. My aged ribeye was good but it was hard to enjoy it with everything else. It felt like they staffed the kitchen with line cooks but are selling them as chefs. Also, everything was incredibly slow. We were there for over two hours and ordered within the first 15 minutes. I understand fine dining meals are meant to be enjoyed and linger, but do you see the toddler? We gotta speed this thing up. When our entrees arrived I put in our dessert order and said go ahead and bring it out and even that took 30 minutes. At the end of it, after tip, the bill was a clean $200. Oh the meals I could have for $200 that would put this to shame. I think if you have an ankle monitor and you can't leave Gainesville, this is your best option. But... on the off chance you can... probably go to a neighboring city. read more

This was my first time dining at Scott's and I/we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a business dinner in the private dining room, which was perfect. Our server, Mia, provided impeccable service, she was professional, friendly, and funny. The bacon appetizer is spectacular. Mia gave the recommendation and WOW was it tasty! We had personal visits and conversations with the manager and Scott the owner, which is always a nice touch. First-class service, delicious food, and fun staff! I have lived on and off in this area for 8 years and never made it here. We had a work Christmas party with 20 of us here. What a fabulous place. My food was outstanding but everyone had great comments on theirs as well, which says a lot for 20 people. We had one of the back rooms that just fit us all and the staff worked effortlessly around us, even laughing along at our White Elephant antics. I don't know that this would be an everyday dining experience but I will definitely bring people back for a special occasion. Oh yeah, I had the lamb chops which were so tender and I was sad when I was the last one eating and still had a few bites left but had to give them up to play our game. Desserts were great too. First time at Scott's. Service was good although we had to search out the hostess to be seated. First table we were shown to had a wobbly top. Food was good; crab dip was just warm and somewhat bland; caesar salad was fantastic; steak was great and cooked perfectly but asparagas was limp and overcooked. My wife and I had our first visit to Scott's last night to celebrate her birthday. We had an early 6pm reservation. We were seated in a private room off the main dining area. My wife had the filet medallions with buttermilk potatoes and shaved Brussel sprouts with bacon. I had the clam chowder, rack of lamb with garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Everything was expertly prepared and had great flavor. The clam chowder was hardy and creamy. The creamed spinach was some of the best I've ever had. And my lamb was perfectly medium rare. The shaved Brussels sprouts was a very unique dish well worth trying. We had very attentive waiter who didn't miss a beat. We were surprised with a desert on the house to celebrate my wife's birthday. All in all we were very impressed with our dining experience at Scott's and will certainly be back again. read more

We chose Scott's for my moms birthday, we made the reservation through open table 5 days in advance. When we arrived the hostess told us she didn't have a reservation for us. We showed her the email confirmation for the date and time and she was rude and continued to argue that we must of not hit the button... we had an email confirmation, but whatever. She got us seated. For an appetizer we ordered the blue crab dip, it was very bland and served with matzah crackers. Very little overall flavor except for the blue crab, tasted like blue crab in cream (would not recommend). My mom and I both ordered the filet medallions cooked medium rare. My steak was cooked medium and hers was just about well done. My dad had the ribeye and his was cooked correct. We all had 2 sides and everything was on the cold side. The service was incredibly slow, the only thing we mentioned was my moms way over cooked steak. It had already taken 1.5 hours to get our food and her new steak took another 30 mins to come out so thank god we didn't say anything about the sides. Our waitress took forever with every task, I sat without a water refill and no one around to ask for more. I will say our meals were good! The steak was great and so were the sides, just cold and over cooked. Would I go back? No. I get that things happen but a $200 dinner should be damn near perfect. read more

We just had such a great experience. At every course as soon as we bit down we were just filled with ecstacy. Seriously my girlfriend and I were constantly ooohing and hmmmming. Casey gave us really good, well informed recommendations, and was so professional and yet friendly. We got the Imperial avocado (AMAZING!), the pear cocktail (so refreshing), and Casey brought us pears and gluten-free crackers (because my girlfriend is gluten free) and we dipped them and the bread into the cinnamon(?) butter. We havent even gotten done with the meal as we write this and we're already trying to figure out how to budget so we can come back! read more

This was a hit and miss night last evening. We have been before but this was not the best experience on 6/4. We were greeted and had our table in a timely manner. The drinks took over 25 minutes to arrive and we were given the 'bar is backed up' reason. If that is the case, perhaps you mention that so we at least are aware. When the drinks did arrive they were very good 4.5 Stars Apps were great and lots of options. 4 Stars The main dishes (steaks) were fair but slightly overcooked for what we ordered. The Seafood special (Scallops, Cobia, Grouper) was very good. 3.5 Stars The sides were bland a best, the starches were over cooked and the veggies were nothing you can't get elsewhere 1 Star. I went for the first time with a large group of friends (12-18 people). The restaurant is beautiful - a great place for groups of people. The servers were fantastic; food portions perfect; and the food presentation was beautiful. Desserts were amazing as well. Everyone's food but mine was great. The seafood sampler, the veal (may have been lamb) chops, etc - all fantstic. The bourbon glazed chicken on the bistro menu was not great. It was good, but not what you'd expect for the price. It also took a very long time to get our food, which I can sympathize with because of the group size and food quality; however, they could have supplied us with the bread sooner and brought us more (4 little loaves for 5 people when we waited 1.5 hours for our food is sad). Overall, I would say that if you want a great night out and can afford to spend the cash - this is the place to go. read more

My first visit to Scott's was for a work Christmas party. The atmosphere is lovely, it's a very formal restaurant. We had our food buffet style, and it was very good. The food was not very hot because it was a buffet, which is understandable. The only thing I did not like was the risotto, it tasted old, like the parmesan had gone bad. First time visiting. The other reviews were accurate about parking, terrible but not the restaurants fault limely low bid government contracts redoing the downtown area. Had to walk through mud to get it the front door. The small alcove style dining for 2 areas were a nice touch. The calamari was thicker than normal but cooked perfectly and tasty. The salads house and blue cheese wedge were tasty and fresh. The seabass was cooked and flavored perfectly and was the prime filet as well. The side gouda grits and greenbeans were full of flavor. A very filling meal but, we could not leave without dsssert. The italian lemon cake with blueberries was light and flavorful. The bread was also tasty but came after the appetizer and salads but good and fresh with blueberry and regular buttter. The kitchen was a little slow likley due to many people sitting at home instead of working for a living. So giving them a pass on that. 2.5 hours to eat the above. My colleagues recommended this restaurant when I came to Gainesville to meet with them. What a great experience! The service was great the food was good and the ambiance...well, the ambiance made everything even better. They have little alcoves (I was told they served as dressing rooms in another life) where you can have a more intimate meal with your someone special. Wonderful food. All the staff was wearing masks and it felt like a safe experience in the current COVID world.

The road in front of the restaurant is completely dirt and under construction... That being said it is absolutely worth the trek through the dirt to get there. The ambience is fantastically romantic and much needed for this area. The food although I wish they offered more vegetarian selections was fantastic. There was only one dish that was vegetarian and it was absolutely wonderful. The service was awesome and our server Casey couldn't have been more delightful. We will absolutely be making this a regular date night stop. read more
