I can officially stop saying, "I can't find great food in Northeast Georgia." The Stag has solved that problem. This place has undergone a total transformation since my last visit--new décor, new chef, new staff, and an entirely new menu. Hands down, one of the best meals I've had in the last five years. The Stag Salad was outstanding--beautiful greens, plenty of bacon and goat cheese, and the most delicious (clearly homemade) buttermilk ranch dressing. I don't usually get excited about salad, but don't sleep on this one. I ordered the seared sea bass, and wow--seared to absolute perfection. The crunch on the outside, moist and succulent on the inside... the best sea bass I've ever had. Chef's kiss. My friends ordered the salmon and the roasted chicken, and everyone was thrilled with their meals. None of us even ordered steaks--despite that being what they're known for--but the ones we saw looked flawless. The upstairs décor is beautiful, and last but definitely not least--ask for Mave. Warm, friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful in steering you toward the right choices. We'll be back soon--and often.

This is a review for the Easter brunch only…read more I'm sure my grandparents would've loved this place if they were still around. You got your white tablecloths, rooms full of retirees, and a vibe that hasn't changed much since the Reagan administration. Unfortunately, there was none of that live music that this place is known for. My family and I came for the Easter brunch buffet @ $55/person. The menu looked great: herb crusted prime rib at the carving station, shrimp and grits, Belgian waffles, deviled eggs, bourbon glazed carrots, cheesecake dessert squares. But the reality was that it's more like an upscale hotel breakfast. Safe, mostly bland, and probably exactly what the "usual" crowd there was looking for. The bacon was overcooked and shriveled. The deviled eggs didn't even have any paprika. And who puts a giant vat of syrup BEFORE the waffles? And their signature strawberry punch would've tasted way better chilled or iced instead of being kept at room temperature. The prime rib was what made it all worth it. It was tender, juicy, cooked just right, and the horseradish took care of their seasoning problem. That carving station is what saves the day along with the fantastic staff. Even the manager was great to talk to. I just wish the rest of the food was better than "meh." A couple of tips: call for reservations, there's no online booking. Parking is annoying because of the app. If you don't have a walker, just use the giant free public lot one block over on Main Street. Also, the "Order" button on their website goes nowhere. Maybe just replace it with "Menu," Luna. Looks like Mother's Day is getting the breakfast buffet brunch encore, so if you want to experience what I did, go for it. I probably won't be back even though the regular menu looks interesting.

The inside has a very cool old school building feel while being trendy at the same time. It's quite a large place with two sides and outdoor seating plus restrooms on each side. The appetizers and main dishes that we have had so far are all fantastic. The fish and chips are some of the best I've had. The fish isn't overly breaded and greasy like some other places. Our son loves the fried green bean appetizer but eats most of it himself so we hardly ever get to enjoy it. Once again the breading is light resembling a panko type crust so you aren't just eating deep fried objects. We've tried numerous other appetizers and so far nothing has been a let down. If you're looking for a good menu with quality food and drink options (they have a full bar) then this is it. Cool setting. Easy to get to. Great food. Friendly staff.

Absolutely. But it was fabulous -- bold, unexpected, and delicious. After walking through the rest of town, I found myself right back for a second round. Next time, I'll be sure to ask for everything piping hot. Because yes -- I'd definitely go back.

No reservation but not a problem as we were seated at a corner booth in the bar. A basket of baked rolls with a Cinnamon infused spread was placed on the table. Ashley is her name and she was the best, she made our first time to a Texas Roadhouse a very pleasant one. Bone in 20oz Ribeye and 12oz Ft Worth Ribeye and my plate was a combo of 12oz Ribeye with Fall of the Bone Ribs. A giant plate of meaty goodness that was accompanied by a side of fresh house salad and a side of carrot and broccoli steamed vegetables. We definitely had a feast and thought the steaks were well prepared as ordered. Rare and Medium Rare are the answer to mouthwatering tender melt in the mouth steaks.... But, and it is a big but... you must cut the steak in bite sized chunks when the steak is still in its prime coming off the hot grill condition. As we often do, we talk during dining and this made the steaks cold and loose its luster. It doesn't matter, we'll take them home. Ashley was super friendly and helpful as we ladeled leftovers into containers. She elevated our experience at the Texas Roadhouse. After we started with the bread rolls wrapped around the Twisted Mozzarella cheese sticks and sides of fresh salads as well as cup of Chili and mashed potatoes, there really wasn't any want for dessert. We ate the steaks at the Texas Roadhouse and left content and happy.
