I used Scott's Discount Movers after comparing prices from this and several other companies on Yelp. First of all, while other companies replied back through Yelp, Scott was the first one to be like, "We need to talk IRL." So he called and we discussed my needs and what services he had to offer. He sent over his insurance information and a questionnaire to be completed so that he could write out the contract. I received an electronic copy of the contract prior to the arrival of the movers and a paper copy was made available for me to sign upon their arrival. Did I mention that this was all within a few hours of closing? Did I mention that this was for a next day move? This man is an organized machine, I tell you. Following the move, he sent the electronic receipt for payment and I was able to submit an electronic payment (with a small convenience fee tacked on) after the movers left. The two guys showed up EARLIER than expected (I know, right? That NEVER happens!) and immediately got to work wrapping and moving furniture as I finished packing (yes, because I'm a lazy slacker). They moved the furniture, delivering everything as best they could. There were only a few minor cosmetic issues with a few items delivered. Overall, they did a phenomenal job with what they were given to work with. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a reputable company that does business in an organized and professional manner. read more

We used Scott's movers for a recent move from a two bedroom apartment to a one story house. They showed up on time and with the three-man crew as promised. The guys were courteous and seemed to hustle in getting the first several runs of boxes and furniture down to the truck. They seemed knowledgeable about how to shrink wrap some items and how to stack others, etc so we were happy with the beginnings of the move. But that's where our satisfaction ended. There were at least two times where the crew took 15-minute breaks in the middle of the move. That was against policy after speaking with the Scott, the owner. The move took 7 hours and 15 mins including 15 mins of travel time to our apartment and then 15 mins to our house. We didn't have a large amount of stuff and it didn't even fill a medium sized truck, so the move took an inordinate amount of time. Scott did call us as the move was finishing and asked if we knew why the move took so long relative to our belongings and I had no answers besides the breaks. To help compensate, he did provide a 45-minute credit to our bill. But still, from a time perspective this move was on the longer side relative to our belongings (no couch, no appliances, etc). The part that was really bothersome was what we discovered the next day. As we unpacked our boxes of clothes, towels, etc all we could smell was cigarette smoke. Not sure if the guy who stayed in the truck to help coordinate the load smoked the whole time or that's what happened on the breaks, doesn't really matter. When we brought it up, unfortunately there was not even apology. All in all, I would not recommend Scott's movers. Pluses are they were punctual and knowledgeable about how to properly move our belongings. Minuses are the length of the move given our belongings and the smoke smell in our clothes. read more

100% the best movers I've ever worked with. I used to move sometimes as often as a few times a year. I've used so many movers across the country, and most are terrible--I mean, like thousands of extra dollars in fees, breaking things, losing things, and stealing things. Up front, Scott's first seemed pricier than some of the competition, but I knew from experience that what Scott told me about how they try to be honest up front sounded true (literally every other company I've used has upped the price at some point after the "guaranteed price" was given). Although I was unable to use Scott and his company to move I am overly impressed with the customer service that I have received. I had a move scheduled for this upcoming Sunday based on his reviews and the best quoted price that I had received. Unfortunately they had an issue with some of their employees and were not going to be able to help me for this weekend. Instead of either not letting me know or waiting until last minute, Scott called me early enough to tell me the news and even recommend several different companies to call. As frustrating as it may be and having to worry about scrambling around to find another company I understood the problem and appreciated the communication and his concern to make sure I was at least given some reputable companies to go with instead. They also will not supply packing materials, they want you to buy you own so they dont have to worry if they have enough or not. Serge and Manny arrived early, got to work immediately, and they were both very pleasant, friendly, and professional. We used this company who was referred by our realtor. They moved us on Thursday. They crew was fast, respectful and friendly. It took a while for them to move us from house A to house B, but we are a family of 7. When the couple of guys couldn't move the refrigerator from house A, the other two that were on house B had to go back and see if they were able to take the doors off since the other ones couldn't. I own an LG French door refrigerator. This is worth $4,000. The doors were dented by the first two guys who tried to move the refrigerator around the kitchen. I know they dented because I had to go back to the house to pick up a few things. I called and told my husband right away. Once the crew was done, my husband mentioned it to the guys that our fridge was dented by them. It was put in the report for their boss to put in a claim. We've been waiting since Thursday to hear from their boss. But he never called back. Today my husband called them back and he said that it was my husbands duty to call businesses that repair dents and send him the quote. He also mentioned that he charged us $100 less as if we should be happy and not say anything about it. First off his crew took a break to go eat lunch...which good for them they're human beings and need their protein for strength. Second of all I bought the crew pizza and gave them a few things from my house. Third of all if this guy says he's insured then it should be his responsibility to put in a claim not us going out and finding businesses that repair dents. Again we're a family of 7...5 of them under the age of 8 with a newborn!!!! At the end he told my husband he wasn't going to put in a claim. Also In a way he insinuated to my husband that because he gave us $100 less we should say nothing about the dent. He in fact told the mover the day of that he'd charge us less because of the break the crew took. $100 is not the same as a $4,000 worth of a fridge. But what would he know. I personally wouldn't recommend this company at all. The guys like I said were phenomenal but if something happens to your belongings, then know that it'll be your job to find someone to quote you, then run it by him, see if he likes the price and then get it fixed. A move is never smooth. Everyone knows that but it shouldn't be this way either. We didn't even mentioned to him that our walls got dirty. One of the steps were scratched. The rails were hit with something that the paint came off. But hey the $100 he gave us should cover all of this plus more. read more

I Selected Scott and his team to move a local business after obtaining quotes from four different local movers. Scott's bid was $450 less than the next lowest bid and less than half of the highest bid. He estimated an eight hour time frame. The three-man team he sent was stellar. Scott gave me a great quote and was in touch with me every few days throughout the 2 weeks before my move, which gave me a great peace of mind. On the day of my move, I received a call about 25 minutes before my appointment time to confirm my location and readiness. Let me just say, Gio and Donnie are freaking amazing! You are going to look at these guys and think, "how will they do this?" And then they will KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF! They broke down my very heavy furniture, wrapped up my electronics and loaded a whole 3/2 townhouse in about 2.5 hours. I couldn't believe it! They were amazing! Very nice, on time, went over all of the furniture and contract with me before we started so there were no surprises. Had a 3 hour minimum, but finished in 2, which was no issue with me since they moved very fast and effectively. The movers had a mini argument between themselves over a dresser which had me take away a star, more for lack of professionalism than anything else, because they were more than polite with me. I had used Scott's Movers back in April when we first moved to Jax. I had a small job needing to be completed on Friday and I called him on Wednesday. His movers were supposed to show up between 1-2pm, they got done with their first job earlier than expected and called to see if they could come early with saying that if I couldn't it was not a problem. Warning... even though you provide all details weeks before your move date through their website and speak with the owner to confirm move date/time. This company will cancel your appointment without letting you know. They prefer to cancel your move with no notice rather than call or follow up if they have further questions. When I called to confirm three days before our move I was informed that we were going to be left stranded on moving day. I spoke to Scott, he was unapologetic and said that it was my fault that he canceled on us. HE even rubbed it in saying that he sent a courtesy text that a confirmation email arrived shortly after we first spoke. If there was information so vital that you would cancel a reservation with no notice, you think you would follow up to make sure your customers understood what you needed. Is it possible to hate someone you don't know? I've always thought no. But I now know what it is to sit here on moving day waiting for a team and a truck that will never show. read more

This was the only time I have ever/will ever use them. Let me first say that I am a big dude (6'5", 275lbs). I have been in construction most of my life and have also worked as a mover and furniture installer for commercial movers and office furniture companies, So I know what I'm doing and I can carry heavy loads better than most. This was an August move in FL, I understand that its hot outside so I supplied a case of bottled water and lunch from a sub shop. We hired them for a local move (2 pick up locations and 1 destination). This was a residential move to a 4 BR house. I requested 3 movers and a 24' truck. PROS: 3 people showed up, on time, with a 24' truck. They did not damage/lose/steal anything. Thats all the positives... CONS: They sent me (2) 160lb-ish guys and a girl. Not to be rude, but MOST men and women were created differently; to physically be capable of doing different things. It took around 8 hours. Halfway through the girl "wasn't feeling good", gave up, and sat in the cab of the truck. The guys were unable to pack the truck properly, so a 3rd trip had to be made. I myself had to load a few heavy things that the 2 guys together were unable to lift. SAD and PATHETIC from "professional movers". Next time I have to move I'll have my 4 year old son help, rent a truck and do it myself. The next time I want to throw away a grand and be completely disappointed at the end, I'll go to a strip club! I'm still so unhappy that I'm writing this review about a year and a half later. I actually got an email asking me to review my experience today 1/2016 and my move was 8/2014. This experience may keep me from EVER hiring any other moving company! Ever! Ill do it myself.
