Came in for a free AAA inspection...mechanic pointed out several issues while showing me and seemed very meticulous. He pointed out that my front CV boot was compromised and gave me an estimate for boot replacement and mentioned an entire CV axle replacement might be worth while. Problem is my truck is a 2wd and has no CV axle on the front. The fact that he didn't know the difference between a steering rack and CV axle is quite concerning. read more

I brought my 2014 Honda CR V to this shop to diagnose and fix a humming noise coming from the engine bay area. I had been dealing with this noise for over a year, and I finally decided to get it checked out. The service advisor informed me that a faulty wheel hub bearing was the cause of the issue. As someone who does a lot of my own car maintenance, I hadn't noticed any bearing play and mentioned this to the advisor, but they still insisted that the hub and bearing needed to be replaced. Even though I wasn't comfortable spending nearly $900 on a 14-year-old vehicle, well when you have bad days, you may end up like that. I agreed to the repair. Later that afternoon, the service advisor called to say they had replaced the hub assembly and bearing, but the humming noise was still present, only slightly reduced as per tech (later in the evening when I drove back home, I didn't feel any change in noise). Well, they then recommended an additional $2,000 worth of repairs, including replacing the intermediate shaft and CV axle. So what else is left to replace? They also tried to convince me to spend more money by offering me a 0% APR loan to cover the cost of repairs. At that point I was super upset; I declined further work. I left the shop after paying $838, and my car is still making the same humming noise it had when I arrived. Given that the original issue remains unresolved, I'm now questioning the value of the money I paid. Based on my experience, this shop may be good for routine oil change kind of stuff, but for more complex diagnostics and repairs, customers should be cautious and consider seeking a more thorough and trustworthy mechanic. read more

My initial engagement was poor, as I sat in my car waiting on someone to come to my window. I went for a vehicle inspection. I parked nose into the bay of the shop and waited for someone to come to my car and assist me. I started counting after 2 guys literally looked at me and kept going. After those 2, 4 more went by, made eye contact and nothing. I was very nerved by the lack of customer service. I would have been fine if they tried just a little. After being passed up by 6 people, I parked my car and went inside. They were all standing around looking at me now from behind the desk. Still nerved, I said I needed a vehicle inspection and no one came out of the garage to assist. No apology, no communication. I was already there, so I proceeded. The inspection was fast. I paid $25.50, which I think is the standard. My transaction was quick and the guy who originally helped me was pleasant. I was sure this place would be great customer service since the guy on the phone was extremely nice and it's not a big chain. I was so turned off by the initial interaction (lack of), I will probably never return. How do 6 people who work there make eye contact and never ask if I need help. Everyone who works here acts very nice but in reality they are dishonest. Had front struts replaced and after the repair the ride was worse than before the repair. I took it back and they said everything is fine despite the fact at least ten people who rode in the car said there was something wrong. I took it to the dealer and the service manager and a mechanic test drove and inspected the car. They confirmed what I suspected all along. The aftermarket part used was poor quality. Scott's then agreed to replace the parts with OEM parts for free. They previously had two chances to do the right thing and chose not to. I highly recommend staying away from these dishonest people. read more

I was quoted $194 for an oil change... I'm 23 and I drive a 2023 VW GTI, which takes 6 quarts of synthetic oil. I asked for a quote on the oil change and if they could match another quote I had received, and they said $194 as it was their "European rate". The most I've ever paid is $120 - they were very clearly trying to rip me off, probably thinking I am too young to notice. To Scott's Auto Repair, I created a Yelp account just to leave this review... please use this feedback constructively. To those in need of an oil change, I drove less than a mile away to "Take 5", where I was quoted $100 for an oil change on the same vehicle. read more

Their service advisors and mechanics have treated both him and his Murano with great care, exceptional communication, sound advice and outstanding customer service throughout. It was time for my car's six-month checkup and annual inspection. As usual, Scott's did these tasks quickly, efficiently and thoroughly. Scott's reviewed my auto and informed me of their proposed charges before any work was done, and I approved them. The front passenger's side fender had become slightly detached, and Scott's reattached it free of charge. During this visit, I became acquainted with two fine young men who work for Scott's. They were courteous and cheerful, eager to serve and help. This gave me a new insight into Scott's Auto Repair. It shows me that this business is careful to hire people of good character, down to the youngest. From the time you walk in the door to completion of the repair job, the staff treated me professionally, respectfully, and seemed quite honest throughout our communication. They examined my car and provided a comprehensive needs assessment, yet did not appear pushy when I explained I could not do all necessary work at one time. Ryan and Rafael assisted me and the latter patiently explained how he arrived at the decision that certain procedures were even needed on my car. Went here for some work on my car but pulled my car when I saw the quote. They quoted 3 times higher than other places. Parts that should cost $10 cost $30 here. They charge $300 for labor when most places charge $100. They said brake fluid was empty when it was full and told me it was a "shadow" when I said I could see the fluid. There was actually plenty of brake fluid and no work was needed for the $250 they wanted to charge me for it. There was an issue with coolant that was also not a reliable diagnosis. They wanted to check for leaks and charge $300 when the coolant was fine. I went to another place and got the same work they wanted to charge $900 for, for $250 (with several things not needed because they were misleading about services needed). They charge way to much and are not trustworthy. I pulled my car before work was done and will not return. read more

Took my 2005 Lexus to Scott's for the first time only because they said they could align my new headlights as a free service they provide and my regular mechanic said he doesn't have the equipment. The staff are nice enough but Scott seemed a little too smoozy. After 45 minutes Scott tells me to "try" my headlights at night because he doesn't have the machine needed and just guessed at the adjustments. Then takes me to the garage to show me all the things that are wrong with my car. I need a new rack and pinion, $2400 and two new axles, $1500......total bill $4000! I took their write up to the mechanic I've been going to for over 30 years, Mikes Shell at 12481 Westheimer. His first comment was these are delearship prices and if he had to actually do all of it, the cost would be half. After careful inspection, I needed one axle, $375. My feeling is this business caters to the Memorial crowd, which is fine, but if you live on the other side of the tracks and $4000 is a lot of money, avoid this place. I was on the freeway when my Check Engine light came on. I also smelled burning oil. So I kept on going to Scott's Auto Repair. Before I had even turned off the engine, Nick and his crew were outside greeting me. They immediately raised my car up to find the problem. I had to make it to an appointment that afternoon, so Nick made sure to loan me a nice car pending the repairs. Scott's got an oil pan and other parts to replace the damaged ones, and got the repair expense reimbursed by my Car Shield. The next day, one of the gentlemen from Scott's drove my car the eight miles from Scott's to where I live near downtown Houston, and he picked up the loaner car and drove it back to Scott's. This level of service and considerate behavior has endeared me to Scott's over the years, so I will always be their customer. read more

I'm a native Houstonian, that currently lives in LA. I recently drove my 2004 Land Cruiser to Houston, and had issues with my AC on the drive. I took the vehicle to Scotts to get the AC repaired before I drove back to LA. From the first phone call, the rep, Johnny, was courteous, knowledgeable, and just a pleasure to work with. He and the team there went above and beyond trying to fix the problem. I needed to replace the navigation system, as a step in preparing the AC. I know they spent many hours identifying the problem and trying to locate a replacement, but due to supply chain issues, they were unable to source one before I needed to return to LA. They returned the vehicle to my, free of charge, and they could not have been nicer. These guys are very trustworthy, and just a pleasure to deal with. read more

UNSATISFIED with: Hidden cost and inflated invoice. NOT COOL. Oil change price is unique at $74.99 (already not the cheaper on the market) but I had a $15 coupon. So it should have been $59.99 +tax. Amount paid: over $79 !!! What's the matter? Well, the employee explained that they use additional supplies ($12 or so) that they charge. He tells me that all garages do that. And if you want a tire rotation, add another $20. NOT COOL. So for my 2nd car, I went to a GM dealership for the following service: oil change, tire rotation, safety checks, etc. Amount paid: less than $66 No additional supplies cost ... Mr Scott's, I recommend that you communicate correctly on prices. No one likes being played with and pay more than what is communicated. Charging a higher amount after the facts feels like a rip-off. Satisfied with: garage cleanliness, interaction at office desk, waiting room w/ A/C, coffee. read more
