I've taken my car to McDaniel at least 3x . I recently had my car in their shop because my car was over heating . They told me it was my radiator and tstat. They said it will cost $922.86. I paid to get it fixed , got the car out last week. I'm a cancer patient and went to the doctors office when my alarm came on saying my car was over heating . I called McDaniel Auto and told them , they gave me a number for a tow service , called the tow service and they said they needed the $125.00 up front which I didn't have. The car is under warranty for 24 months and McDaniel wouldn't have my car towed which just came out the shop. I was stranded in the heat for 4 hrs . McDaniel would not honor and have my car towed saying it was probably my water pump, which they would have known that when they allegedly replaced my radiator and tstat. I've spent a total of $1500 with McDaniel with this same car and they wouldn't help me. I don't even know if they replaced my radiator and tstat. I checked the reservoir for the antifreeze it was completely empty !!!! It should not have been empty. I'm going to channel 2 news as well and reporting them if I were a man this would not happen . I walked in for an oil change and they were able to do it right away. The guy at the front was nice and helpful. They did a good job but it didn't include any of the extra stuff you get at other places like tire rotation and fluid check. Reading the reviews, I understand now that the people in the service are racists. It's the first time I am being treated so poorly. I filed a lawsuit against them today. They gave me a defective headlight bulb and I went there today to got it replace. The guy lied and told me it was a cable connected to the headlight that caused the bulb to burn, he told me he tried a new one and it wouldn't work and it will cost me $100 to get it fixed. Since I couldn't trust them because of the frauds after my first visit( I went to change my front brake pad, he told me he was going to do it for 250, I negotiate the price to 180, I don't know anything about mechanics and told him about my headlights, he told me he was going to change my brake for 180 and the bulbs for free. He first asked me if I can pay him cash because they have to pay taxes and the prices he gave me were " too good "but I didn't have cash on me and I told him I will have to go to an ATM. He then proceed to tell me it was ok to pay with my card which I did. He made a fake receipt where it's marked that I paid $75 for the brake and $50 for the headlights bulbs and the rest for the service. I understood that I had been screwed but since my car was working I didn't complain until I realized that they fixed me a defective headlight bulb today and he tried to extort $100 for a problem I didn't have.), I ask them to give me my car back, one of the mechanics drove it out of the shed and left it there hanging with my door open while I was standing outside, he could have give me the keys but he didn't. I was never disrespectful with them, Both time i went there and greet them, nobody replied and treated me like crap. I understand now that is probably because Im African and they probably think I worth nothing.So I went to another place and turns out it was just the bulb. I got it changed for $33. When I went back to McDaniel the guy kept lying and told me I wasn't going to be reimbursed. It is sad that there are still people like that in the world. Came here to get a last minute state inspection on a Friday and their customer service had me get back in my car to find another place. I called before hand to see how would it would take. I was told about 30 mins and that includes waiting time. When i arrived and checked in at the front desk, the guy told me it would take 45 mins to an hour. I mentioned that I just called 2 minutes ago and someone said 30 mins. With attitude, the guy replied..."well then it would take however long the other person mentioned it". Well, if they can't even tell me how long it'll take then I don't know if i want to trust my car with them. Would not recommend these guys. So much attitude for a Friday afternoon. read more

Excellent customer service. Guy at front desk, Chris I think was very nice and helpful. Took a vehicle in for a pre-purchase inspection and they started on it right away. Within about twenty minutes he updated me that he could tell what all's been done on it and can tell they did good work on the accident repairs. They looked at it a little bit longer and didn't even charge for the service because they said it didn't take them that long. I will be going back here. Went to McDaniel's to get my car inspected on/or about August 20, 2016. When I was being checked out, the technician told me my brakes were shot and they could fix them for $1100.00. Said the brake pads were gone and the rotors were in bad shape. Said I would start damaging the calipers if I didn't get them fixed soon. I didn't have the money so I started looking for a second opinion and someone to help me get this fixed. Went to Meineke #4 (5809 SW Freeway) on August 30th . They took off the tires which McDaniels didn't do and said that only one brake pad was low and that it probably had something to do with the caliper either being stuck or just needing to be oiled. Minimum cost to fix $200, max $400. The other three tires were fine and did not require replacement of brake shoes, rotors or calipers. That guy at McDaniels lied to try to get me to pay for something I didn't need. I won't go there for anything ever again if that is how they do things. The guys at this place are amazing and super friendly! I came here to double check what my mechanic told me about my radiator. He just wouldn't listen to me when I told him that something was still wrong. So I decided to check these guys instead of arguing with him. It just kept treating me like I was making more out of it. Turns out I was right. The guys fixed me up and told me if there's something still wrong that I can come back and they will dig deeper. I could go on but at this point I was just super satisfied that they would do what they can to make sure I stay mobile. Can't ask for a better shop than that in my opinion. I'm not going back to my mechanic. I'm staying here. They're right up the road and they have free towing and loaner cars. Something my mechanic has never offered. So I would suggest you try them out. My car has never ran better than after getting it back from this shop, I took my car here after experiencing some flood damage and after taking it to another shop that did nothing to it but get it running. McDaniels auto care took my poor car in, dealt with the insurance directly, kept me in the loop every step of the way AND they gave me loaner car while they were working on my car which was a complete life saver. I've had my fair share of car issues but this shop absolutely blows all the other shops I've taken my car to out of the water. This is a great place to go to get your car inspected!! The employees are very respectful to customers and their needs. As a woman who finds automotive places to be intimidating and a little uncomfortable, my experience was nothing short of comfortable and satisfying. I didn't get that creepy feeling or the feeling of trickery! Lol The guy helping me was not only nice, but helped me understand the new state inspection rules with ease! Issue 1: Warranty Claim I came to get brake pads replaced which wore out within the 24,000 warranty period. The manager let me know that the McDaniel cannot perform any warranty work "without also changing out the parts causing the problem, due to the limitations of the "program" they work with". I found this very unfair, but went ahead and allowed them to change the recommended parts. They also mentioned that my front rotors weren't in great shape and that they would change them out when I came back next time and only charge me the price for the parts. It turns out that the "price of the parts" for 2 front rotors was $279.98. If you're familiar with rotor cost, it ranges $40-75 per rotor, which totals $150 on the high end. Instead of honoring their statement, it seems that McDaniel instead included the "price of labor" within the "cost of the parts". Issue 2: Extremely High Pricing My ABS light had recently turned on and I asked for it to be looked into. The estimated which was provided to change "brake light switch" was the following: $49.99 (parts) + 126.99 (labor) = $176.98. I recognized that this was too high and decided to call a dealership and ask how much the part was and how difficult it is to replace. It turned out the part cost a total of $14.85 plus tax and took me a total of 5 minutes to replace. read more

I can't say enough good things about these guys. They are friendly and caring and totally competent. I needed a very difficult procedure to replace a vacuum hose for my air conditioning system. Able was very congenial and transparent about what needed to be done and gave me a couple of options. I am retired and on a fixed income and he graciously gave me a generous discount on the repair. Not only that but they use their courtesy car to take me home which was a 20 minute drive and pick me up when my car was finished. Rip offs. Do not take your care here for any oil leaks, they will overcharge you to put stop leak in your car. On 2 separate occasions, I had to return to the shop 3 times for improper / incomplete work. They claim that they use dealer parts and it's not true. They take short cuts and charge double the price. Worst shop in town. They charged me 2200 to rebuild half the motor. What shop rebuilds half the motor? Truck lasted 6 months. Over charged for parts by 75%. 350 for the head gaskets but they're 120 at autozone. Wouldn't send my worst enemy there. Stay away!!!!! read more

It's tough to find great service from an auto repair shop, but I have to admit I was very pleasantly surprised by the courtesy and prompt service from McDaniel. I had taken my daughter's car to the Mr. Sticker across the street for an annual state inspection while on my lunch hour. Much to my surprise, I failed that inspection because the brake lights were not functioning. I was very concerned about driving safety with this problem and wanted it fixed ASAP. As Mr. Sticker only does inspections and oil changes, they could not do this repair for me. They recommended I try McDaniel Auto Care across the street, so I took the car over there. It was already close to noon at this point. I was assisted by Abel, who was most helpful. He looked at my car right away and diagnosed the problem as a faulty switch. He got on the phone and ordered the part, and said it would not be there until later in the afternoon, but that it would be an easy fix. I was prepared to wait, but he offered me a lift back to my office in their courtesy van. Awesome! When the work was finished, they sent a driver back to my office to pick me up at the end of the day. The work on my car was not only complete, but McDaniel was nice enough to take my car back to Mr. Sticker (a competitor, none the less!) so they could complete the inspection for me. How nice is that??? On top of it all, I thought that the repair bill was pretty reasonable. Abel told me that they will also provide loaner cars in addition to ther courtesy van service. So, will I be returning to McDaniel Auto Care? You bet I will! read more

As a Marine Engineer and competent mechanic I had checked my own car over which included using the Durametrics diagnostics software to communicate with my car via the OBDII interface. My wife has business in that area and I needed my state inspection, i saw McDaniel Autocare and decided to have the inspection done to kill some time. I took my vehicle in and waited, only to eventually be told that it had failed because it did not comminucate via the OBDII interface with their equipment. Bemused and suspicious I asked how much would it cost to fix this and they told be it could be a loose wire "Way up behind the dashboard" but usually was around $100 an hour to trouble shoot. I told the mechanic I was an engineer I had already confirmed there was no problems with the car and was quite puzzled. I was given all the paperwork and told there would be no charge and have a nice day. I immediately went home, confirmed via my own Durametric software the car was communicating, checked every pin and plug on the OBDII interface including the sensors the ECU communicates with for an emissions test, then took it to another test station and the car passed with flying colors. The Tester told be the car did not have problems communicating. I tested the car for 3 days consecutively and non communication never happened once. I will let you draw your own conclusions. read more

Worst experience of my life, if your ever really need help avoid this place. I know its a business but the mark up at this business is almost offensive. One part went from $200 to $1,200 after stating I couldn't afford to do everything thing that they said I needed. I actually bought that $1,200 part for $400 at Oreilly's. I stood face to face with the manager Chris & said that I was going to buy the part . He waited until the part was delivered & decided he wanted to increase my bill by $100 for the Diagnostic because I didn't use his parts , when he clearly said it was included with the labor not parts. After informing I instantly stated that I would pay his Diagnostic fee & take the vehicle somewhere else. He instantly starts talking fast telling me they already took my engine apart . In conclusion I let him do the install on the one part. I ended paying almost $1000 just to get my vehicle away from this shady shop . The car isnt Operational but I'm relieved to be done with Mcdaniels Auto care ... lesson learned read more

A couple months back I paid over $1000 to get my clutch fix and they gave me a 2 year or 20,000 mile warranty. Then like a week later my lower ball joint gave out. They replaced both lower ball joints and inner and outer tie rods for another $1000 which was a rip off but I had no choice. So about 4 months into driving, my clutch started making the same clutch noise it was making last time before I had it replaced. So I bring it in for servicing since it was under warranty and the guy tells me I have to leave the car over night so I do and 2 days later he calls me and tells me the car is ready for pick up. I go pick up the car and the shop manager who has a total crap face attitude on 24/7 with all customers which is rude by the way. Don't know why they even hired his ass. He tells me that would be the last time they would replace it and starts blaming me for the reason it gave out. He kept telling me that it was because I left my foot on the clutch while at the light which I never do. I've been driving stick since I was 16 and I'm 25 now and I'm still driving stick since I hate autos. I know all the Do's and don't of driving a manual. So I said Ok fine whatever cuz I wasn't going to argue with the guy. So now it's been about a month driving the car from home to work like anyone else does and the clutch noise came back. So now I'm very pissed off since the manager decided to remove my warranty so they wouldn't have to do the job again and now I'm stuck with a messed up clutch after a month and if I would to bring to them, he would tell me it's my fault again. Did he ever think it might be a crap part or maybe his mechanic isn't doing it right? No blame the customer for everything and then over charge his ass. Another thing that they is they give you a quote for example my clutch and lower ball joint job they did they told me around $1000 and then they tell me well we can leave it to you for about $700ish but cash. Why can't u just charge me the 700ish on my card. That's that bullshit they try to scam people. Just yesterday Saturday April 30th I went in for an oil change. I've been there multiple times already and have all my record on the computer. The attitude manager tells me it would be an hour wait so I say OK that's fine. Now another guy pulls up about 15 mind later and tell them he needs an oil change as well. The manager tells him OK it's a hour and half wait. The guy leave the car there and walks across the street. No lie 15 mins later and a total of 30 for me just sitting there the mechanic puts that guys car on the stands before mine for an oil change. The manager Clearly saw the guys car when he pulled up and knew I was ahead of him but didn't say anything. I sat there for over an hour and half and the manager didn't apologize for the wait. He just over charged me for an oil change where they Don't even replace replace the filter. This place is a scam and way over priced. Never again will I go here. I will find the time to work on my own car and save myself hundreds and know I got the job done right then to be waste wasting my hard earned money with them. read more
