Avoid this place at all costs!! Went in for in for an inspection and was told I needed my battery replaced. Being an idiot I didn't ask what it was going to cost. When it came time to pay it was over $500. The receipt I got had a bunch of random charges that had nothing to do with the service. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

Jack John Varcados Shell - They always help me - Auto Repair Near Me - Houston, Texas

Super nice, super helpful and very quick when I needed to replace all four tires after a blowout this week. They were very kind and accommodating and I so appreciate how fast their services were! I highly recommend! read more

I DO NOT recommend this place. Highway robbery at its finest. They price gouge, and will rip you off if you don't have any vehicle knowledge. Workmanship is great by the mechanics, but the pricing and customer treatment is POOR on the office side. DO NOT go to this place. read more

Rude, offensive, and self-righteous! Hard to find somewhere else to top it. 'customer friendly' is an unknown concept here. Consider yourself lucky if, for any reason, you have a question/concern/disagreement and you get away without insults. These people should not be in any business that interfaces people! Love to help local businesses, even at higher cost for the same service, but this place deserves only one thing: Get new staff, or go out of business! read more

A first class, five star recommendation is deserved. Around 1PM on a weekday, a warning light came on, low tire. JJ Varcados was close by so I pulled in. The gentleman had me fill out an info sheet, took my keys. Within a minute, the helper was there. He took my car to the garage, returning in another few minutes to show me the offending metal object which caused the leak. Thank you, Houston politicians for allowing us to pay for deep potholes and dirty streets. I was on my way in 10 minutes total, having paid a well earned $25 to JJ Varcados' efficient workers. If only our government was half this efficient! JJ Varcados Shell is commended and recommended without reservation! read more

We live in the neighborhood and have been going to Jack for several years now for most of our car needs. We always get great service and feel taken care of. Most recently my husband had a run in with a rebar on i10 which made over $4k of damage to my hubby's F150. Jack took care of us and quick too! Used all quality parts from Ford not cheap junk and had his truck back to new in just a couple of days. Who knew rebar could bend like that. Thankful my hubby didn't flip his truck and is ok. Ok Cannot tell you how much we appreciate Jack and his guys. This is our it place for cars forever. read more

One of the best service stations in the state of Texas. When getting my oil change, they were able to do it so efficiently without any hassle. The value you get at Jack John Varcados Shell is unmatched. Great customer service and everything is at a reasonable price too. Highly recommend! read more

Has always checked my tires brilliantly! You rock Jack! Just know that Jess will stop by if his car got any problems.....

Old neighborhood full service gas station. I usually pop in to buy cigarettes & to chat with JJ senior who is always a hoot & loves to bust H if he is at the bar next door. H had his BMW serviced here & has used them for state inspections. These guys hired great mechanics & we were very happy with their service. You don't find many places like this anymore. Old style service with a smile & joke. read more

Gas is extremely expensive at this Shell Station! I paid $3.99/gallon for plus. I was supposed to receive a 0.10c/gallon discount but they didn't give it. read more

In the spirit of Christmas, I wanted to thank Jack John Varcados Shell for their wonderful service over the years. I've been a longtime customer, and love the atmosphere and employees at this location. Jack and his son John are a pleasure to speak to, and are always diligent in doing the best job they can. I love bringing my cars here and enjoy giving back to local family-owned businesses. I've received numerous oil changes, inspections, and tire changes. All of which are fairly priced and done efficiently. read more

I needed my oil changed and I walked in and they had it done in a flash. Sat inside and they offered me a drink while I waited. Excellent service! I'd recommend this place to anyone needing service on their car! read more

1 star is way toooo much. My wife dropped our car off for an oil change. The bill should have been around $90. When she picked it up, the bill was $287 because they changed the cabin air filters WITHOUT our authorization. My wife called me from the station. I spoke to the mechanic/owner and he said they would put the old ones back but after I hung up the phone, they pressured my wife into paying for the new filters. They also tried to justify this sneaky move by arguing they called us but we didn't answer. Neither my wife nor I had missed phone calls from them. This also does not justify their actions. We will NEVER go back to them again and I hope this review helps anyone who needs car service in the area. read more

Jack provides a good value. Doesn't take short cuts to give a low ball price. Have gone here for the past 7 years. Good guys with broad skills to fix most car issues, get new good year tires, or a simple oil change. read more

Wow! Great family run business that we have been using for 10+ years. Honest, fast hard working and personable. Happy, happy each and every time! Thanks Guys! read more

Crooks. Rude, hostile and dishonest. Overpriced gas. The short story: They charged me minimum diagnostic fee of nearly $100 and told me I need about $1200 of brake parts and service. I took the car down Gessner and had the problem diagnosed and fixed for $140. The place I took it said that it didn't appear that the calipers were even inspected. Total scam. Go to Firestone instead! read more

I've had work done on my Suburban on a few occasions and Jack John was thorough in explaining the types of parts that can be used on the car. He doesn't like to use cheap after market parts and neither do I, but he gave me options. You are normally not waiting a long time and a quick walk to Starbucks or Union Kitchen is not a bad wait. Other than their gas (premium) prices higher than most Shell stations it is convenient and the provide a good service. read more

Jack provides phenomenal customer service at his station. It was my first time here and I witnessed him helping a customer renew their registration sticker online. He definitely goes out of his way for his customers. read more

Randomly stopped in to see if they could fix a light and a few other things including an oil change. They were very professional, helpful. Will definitely return if I need anything on any car done! read more

I waited next door at the Starbucks for an hour and a half and they never got to my car. They said it would take 45 minutes. Wasted my day, no call to say it was going to take more than twice as long. I just took my keys and left and nobody seemed to notice or care. Took it somewhere else and they did it in 20 minutes. read more

I have been going to this shell station for years. Would drop the car off and walk my dog home around the corner. Always got my oil changed and tires rotated and then one day I got a call saying that the lug nuts on my tire were damaged when they took the tire off. When I questioned the owner about what happened and why he immediately yelled at me. I was in shock and after being told that I would have to pay $150 for a simple lug nut replacement I knew that I would never come back to this place again. Living around the corner for years and being a solid customer I am at a loss as to the lack of professional customer service I had from the owner himself. My advice is take your car somewhere else where they won't rip you off just because you live in a nice neighborhood. read more

I've had to have expensive work done here twice and both times I've had a great experience. Reasonably priced on mechanic work and I don't have to come back to get anything fixed as a "follow up". Always does a thorough and great job. read more

I have been taking my car to Jack John Varcados shell for years now. The team has kept my 19-year old Mercedes in mint running condition, and it's still running great. The personnel and service have both been consistently fantastic and I will continue to use and recommend this station. read more

I took my car there to get it inspected as I am a new state resident. I had found this station on Yelp and went there based on reviews. I was a little off put by the men standing around with their hands in their pockets when I went in to the office. They literally acted like they were seeing an alien from another galaxy among their midst. They gentleman at the cash register did not give me a feeling of confidence when he asked questions about my insurance, to the point where another person nearby had to correct him and essentially take over. The inspection was fast but they explained nothing about the process and led me to think getting my car registration would be more difficult than it was. They did give me adequate directions to get to the courthouse. Overall I felt uncomfortable being a woman alone with a car need at this place and that I might be taken advantage of if I actually ever had a problem with my car. read more

I have taken all of our family cars to Jack John Varcados Shell for over 10 years. The service and the quality of the work has been outstanding. They have performed routine and scheduled maintenance as well as necessary A/C, brake, and radiator repair. All reasonably priced and using original factory parts. When I traded in my last car, I received top dollar because of the mechanical condition. They have serviced my Chrysler, Hondas, and my two Mercedes. I highly recommend them, read more
