WELL , an hour later the old man calls and says its ready.. i asked what was it.?? Oil, you need to change the oil, and its $100.00... ok, headed to you. Do you have the report in writing? NO REPORT IN WRITING!! Why? Didnt I just pay you $100?? Please call JACK.. finally after a long wait, there's Jack.. I asked about my report. $100 report.. no print out.. no suggestion about my car hesitation. My car is still hesitating? NO ANSWERS FROM JACK.. oh but JACK has favorites. A first class, five star recommendation is deserved. Around 1PM on a weekday, a warning light came on, low tire. JJ Varcados was close by so I pulled in. The gentleman had me fill out an info sheet, took my keys. Within a minute, the helper was there. He took my car to the garage, returning in another few minutes to show me the offending metal object which caused the leak. Thank you, Houston politicians for allowing us to pay for deep potholes and dirty streets. I was on my way in 10 minutes total, having paid a well earned $25 to JJ Varcados' efficient workers. We live in the neighborhood and have been going to Jack for several years now for most of our car needs. We always get great service and feel taken care of. Most recently my husband had a run in with a rebar on i10 which made over $4k of damage to my hubby's F150. Jack took care of us and quick too! Used all quality parts from Ford not cheap junk and had his truck back to new in just a couple of days. Who knew rebar could bend like that. Thankful my hubby didn't flip his truck and is ok. Ok Cannot tell you how much we appreciate Jack and his guys. This is our it place for cars forever. read more

Old neighborhood full service gas station. I usually pop in to buy cigarettes & to chat with JJ senior who is always a hoot & loves to bust H if he is at the bar next door. H had his BMW serviced here & has used them for state inspections. These guys hired great mechanics & we were very happy with their service. You don't find many places like this anymore. 1 star is way toooo much. My wife dropped our car off for an oil change. The bill should have been around $90. When she picked it up, the bill was $287 because they changed the cabin air filters WITHOUT our authorization. My wife called me from the station. I spoke to the mechanic/owner and he said they would put the old ones back but after I hung up the phone, they pressured my wife into paying for the new filters. They also tried to justify this sneaky move by arguing they called us but we didn't answer. Neither my wife nor I had missed phone calls from them. This also does not justify their actions. We will NEVER go back to them again and I hope this review helps anyone who needs car service in the area. read more

Crooks. Rude, hostile and dishonest. Overpriced gas. The short story: They charged me minimum diagnostic fee of nearly $100 and told me I need about $1200 of brake parts and service. I took the car down Gessner and had the problem diagnosed and fixed for $140. The place I took it said that it didn't appear that the calipers were even inspected. Total scam. I've had work done on my Suburban on a few occasions and Jack John was thorough in explaining the types of parts that can be used on the car. He doesn't like to use cheap after market parts and neither do I, but he gave me options. You are normally not waiting a long time and a quick walk to Starbucks or Union Kitchen is not a bad wait. Other than their gas (premium) prices higher than most Shell stations it is convenient and the provide a good service. read more

I waited next door at the Starbucks for an hour and a half and they never got to my car. They said it would take 45 minutes. Wasted my day, no call to say it was going to take more than twice as long. I just took my keys and left and nobody seemed to notice or care. I have been going to this shell station for years. Would drop the car off and walk my dog home around the corner. Always got my oil changed and tires rotated and then one day I got a call saying that the lug nuts on my tire were damaged when they took the tire off. When I questioned the owner about what happened and why he immediately yelled at me. I was in shock and after being told that I would have to pay $150 for a simple lug nut replacement I knew that I would never come back to this place again. Living around the corner for years and being a solid customer I am at a loss as to the lack of professional customer service I had from the owner himself. My advice is take your car somewhere else where they won't rip you off just because you live in a nice neighborhood. read more

I took my car there to get it inspected as I am a new state resident. I had found this station on Yelp and went there based on reviews. I was a little off put by the men standing around with their hands in their pockets when I went in to the office. They literally acted like they were seeing an alien from another galaxy among their midst. They gentleman at the cash register did not give me a feeling of confidence when he asked questions about my insurance, to the point where another person nearby had to correct him and essentially take over. The inspection was fast but they explained nothing about the process and led me to think getting my car registration would be more difficult than it was. They did give me adequate directions to get to the courthouse. Overall I felt uncomfortable being a woman alone with a car need at this place and that I might be taken advantage of if I actually ever had a problem with my car. read more
