They determined that my catalytic converter needed replacement, but when I told Manuel that I had my converter replaced almost five years ago, he made sure my converter was covered under the warranty. Affordable Muffler only charged me for labor. The owner did not have to get my catalytic converter covered under the warranty -- I had no clue about how long the auto parts store honored warranties -- but Manuel made sure I was taken care of. When I called in advance to schedule an appointment, I was told to show up whenever I wanted to. I arrived early on Saturday morning and they finished replacing my oxygen sensor in less time than I had waited in line at another shop who eventually advised they could not remove or replace my sensor. Don't waste time at other shops who may or may not be able to do the job and who may overcharge. I live approximately 15 miles from their location across from the football stadium on Dairy Ashford and it is well worth the drive both ways. In fact, I spent less time including drive time than I did waiting at closer shops. One other mechanic shop which was on Franz Rd. spent over an hour trying to remove my sensor and finally had to admit they could not do the job and advised me to go to a muffler shop. A muffler shop on Misty Cove Dr. wanted me to sign a two-page release of liability and contract before they would consider my repair and still would not quote a fixed price. I showed him pictures of what an original factory exhaust tip for my car looked like and he created a very high quality tip (see pictures). Why do you have a "no smoking sign inside" of the office but the walls are literally yellow from smoking in it. Can hardly breathe in there since the smells stronger than a damn casino. I had a half a** experience the first time I came to get a job done. Still smelled like cigs inside & still had the same attitude with me. I'll give the review a 2 just because the job was done the first time. The second time he gave me an attitude again and on top of that up charged me $70 to do the same damn job he did for me the first time. I paid $110 to install a bolt on (NO WELD) cat-back exhaust. The second time he was quoting me at $180. Additionally, he told me he had "too many cars" already but accepted another guy after I left. ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10...10+ Just got back from AM where I brought my van for a muffler/tailpipe disconnect. This place is an absolute hidden gem in Houston. I first ran across them in the turn of the century (in the yeaaaar twoooo thousaaaand) when I was young and cool and had a Camaro that had a leaky muffler that was was melting off part of the bumper cover and the owner fixed it up right away for a few bucks. I was so impressed that I went back to him for a catalytic converter which they also did affordably. Then I went on with my life and the years went by like so many grains of sand in an hour glass. One year, two years, three years....all the way to the present 18 years later when again I was in need of a catalytic converter (stupid P0420 code) and was trying to figure out what to do. I looked into an OEM converter but on an older car it's insane how expensive they are. I thought about places closer to me but their reviews were kind of all over the place and talking to them didn't give me much confidence so then I remembered my young and hip days again (In the yeaaaar twoooo thousaaand) and did a google search and holy crap, the same place was still there! I called up to make sure it was the same owner and sure enough it was. The place is a bit out of my way now but it was totally worth going there..In and out of there in 15 minutes with a universal converter welded on, great price, nice warranty, no more P0420 code in the car, and when I ran diagnostics, the downstream O2 sensor was having a great reading. Well I called myself using my inner GPS so I ended up in Alief area got re-routed found the spot walked in everybody was busy talked with a few customers that was in the shop Manuel came in the shop I told him who I was he told me be patient he had 2 cars to get done. I waited maybe 10-15 minutes tops trust me the wait was worth it the God awesome conversation was worth it. Masters of their trade, Affordable Muffler is a mom and pop shop with down to earth guys that'll converse with you and do exactly what you ask of them without up selling. I used these guys a few years back to install a full Ark cat back exhaust on an Infiniti G37 Coupe and they were able to install it affordably, quickly and well aligned. Most recently came back to do a mid muffler delete and Dynomax resonator install on an Acura TL and they did it quickly with no issues. Great honest individuals who were able to complete the BMW Performance Exhaust mod for me at a very reasonable price when other shops were afraid to touch it. Every time I called, someone answered immediately and were informative on the openings in their schedule to accommodate me without too much of a delay. One thing I liked very much is how they would invite you to come look at what they're doing and explain to you the process. The entire job took more than 2 hours and even after the project was done, the employees even helped me figure out and fix some vibration issues I was having with the exhaust. Ive been going here for about 5 or so years now. This IS your dad's muffler shop. Its not a nice new dealership or a JDM crowd oriented shop with fancy demos and wheels on display. No there isn't a swanky waiting room where they serve complementary snacks while someone does $25 of work for $300. This shop is just normal guys who provide a solid service at very honest pricing. No one is gonna quote you $80 for a spot weld here. Today I swung over to have the cat-back exhaust on my new Mustang aligned. I installed it myself, but without a lift and ability to stand under the car i just couldn't get leverage to align it 100%. The guys fixed it up for me in about five minutes of me pulling up.
