I found Affordable Muffler through a Google search. They had pretty good reviews, so I figured, why not give them a shot? I have a Ram TRX and had purchased a pair of Flowmaster Outlaw mufflers myself on Amazon. I found some that were returns/like-new for a great price, so I brought them in and had Affordable Muffler remove the factory mufflers, fit the Flowmasters into the existing exhaust, and weld everything back together. They did a great job. The welds look clean, everything was installed nicely, and I'm extremely happy with how the TRX sounds. I was happy enough with their work that some friends with TRXs ended up going there and having the same thing done. My one warning is to be VERY clear about the price before they start. I talked to the guy three different times and somehow got three different prices. Ultimately, I paid the price we had agreed on, so there wasn't a problem. I don't think he was trying to be sketchy--it felt more like a small-business owner negotiating and trying to make a deal--but I'd definitely recommend confirming the final price before they start working. It's a small operation, basically a guy and his helper in an area with several automotive repair businesses. Don't expect a fancy performance shop, but that's also not what I needed. For a straightforward job like mine--cutting out the existing mufflers and welding in replacements--I would absolutely go back. If I were doing a complete custom exhaust system, I'd personally go to a dedicated performance shop that specializes in designing and building full exhaust systems. For what I asked Affordable Muffler to do, though, they did it very well. Good-looking welds, good installation, and my TRX sounds fantastic with the Flowmaster Outlaws. Just make sure everyone is on the same page about the price before the work starts. read more

I received a couple of estimates for brake work that were sky high and inconsistent prior to calling Affordable Muffler, one of which was more than double what Manuel quoted me. Within an hour of speaking over the phone, I came in and they got started on my vehicle quickly. The shop is conveniently located and easy to find. It's definitely no frills, but everyone there was friendly. The shop dogs were an added bonus. I left assured my money went to a local shop that values integrity and honesty. I will definitely be back for further work. read more

AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! I used google to find an affordable muffler repair shop. I noticed the number of positive reviews and decided to drive to Affordable Muffler located on 841 Dairy Ashford Rd. I drove up with my 2016 Nissan Rogue sounding like I was riding a motorcycle. I asked Mr. Manuel for a quote, moments later he had my car in the air and repairs had already started. I'm actually not sure how many different things were fixed while I was there, but the customer service was awesome read more

They were polite, quick, upfront & honest and went above and beyond fixing my tire issue. Meanwhile f*restone tried to charge me an extra $500 for something that was fixable and cost less than 50 bucks. 10/10 stars, and I'll send everyone I know to them. read more

Affordable Muffler replace my catalytic converter in 2018. My car's Check Engine Light came on for code P0420 again, so I brought my car back to Affordable Muffler. They determined that my catalytic converter needed replacement, but when I told Manuel that I had my converter replaced almost five years ago, he made sure my converter was covered under the warranty. Affordable Muffler only charged me for labor. The owner did not have to get my catalytic converter covered under the warranty -- I had no clue about how long the auto parts store honored warranties -- but Manuel made sure I was taken care of. This is one of the most honest businesses in Houston. They really take care of their customers and do great work at more than fair prices. If you are looking for a good, honest place to work on your catalytic converter or muffler, this is the place to go! read more

I had exhaust tips done and the crew was professional and honest. I even left my remote key and they drove to me. Great stuff here

When I called in advance to schedule an appointment, I was told to show up whenever I wanted to. I arrived early on Saturday morning and they finished replacing my oxygen sensor in less time than I had waited in line at another shop who eventually advised they could not remove or replace my sensor. Don't waste time at other shops who may or may not be able to do the job and who may overcharge. I live approximately 15 miles from their location across from the football stadium on Dairy Ashford and it is well worth the drive both ways. In fact, I spent less time including drive time than I did waiting at closer shops. One other mechanic shop which was on Franz Rd. spent over an hour trying to remove my sensor and finally had to admit they could not do the job and advised me to go to a muffler shop. A muffler shop on Misty Cove Dr. wanted me to sign a two-page release of liability and contract before they would consider my repair and still would not quote a fixed price. I have been and will continue to be a repeat customer of Affordable Muffler Shop for several reasons. read more

I went from Brownsville to get my Tundra repaired and was very impressed with their professionalism and honesty. I was quoted a price in excess of $5000 and a complete replacement of both sides cats by Toyota dealership, but they did the work in about $700. Most of that was the part costs, (and more importantly and impressive was that they cut and flanged and welded a part that made it work great!). read more

I heard a sound coming from the back of my car and saw this. As soon as I pull into the parking lot, immediately one of the mechanics walks to car. I get out and he says "don't worry I'll take it off for you". Without explaination, he goes to get his tools and proceeds. Thank you very much! read more

Had a great experience with Manuel and his crew. Manual created a factory look alike exhaust tip with dual outlets for my 1984 Mustang. I showed him pictures of what an original factory exhaust tip for my car looked like and he created a very high quality tip (see pictures). They also installed a new tail pipe and a new Flowmaster muffler. I love the sound of the muffler. The work was done quickly and very expertly and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend Manuel and Affordable Muffler. P.S. Many thanks again to Manuel (a very nice guy). read more

Why do you have a "no smoking sign inside" of the office but the walls are literally yellow from smoking in it. Can hardly breathe in there since the smells stronger than a damn casino. I had a half a** experience the first time I came to get a job done. Still smelled like cigs inside & still had the same attitude with me. I'll give the review a 2 just because the job was done the first time. The second time he gave me an attitude again and on top of that up charged me $70 to do the same damn job he did for me the first time. I paid $110 to install a bolt on (NO WELD) cat-back exhaust. The second time he was quoting me at $180. Additionally, he told me he had "too many cars" already but accepted another guy after I left. Went and got the job done over on Richmond instead where they: had no smoking, great customer service, great job, and even better pricing read more

ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10...10+ Just got back from AM where I brought my van for a muffler/tailpipe disconnect. Knowing zilch about this stuff and after checking online ballpark prices for exhaust repairs/replacement I was ready to get hit with big bucks, and NOT looking forward to driving around getting and comparing estimates. I could have been talked into a complete exhaust system and not known the difference. But this shop did NOT take advantage of my ignorance. I was shown the rusted muffler and I was told that was all that was needed. No more than half an hour from the time I drove in until I drove out. Super fast. Great work. Great HONEST price. Great courteous people to deal with. Don't normally review businesses, good or bad, but had to review this one. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

These guys were exceptionally awesome it's hard today to find honest people I understand everyone has to make living. You would not be disappointing. If you give it a shot what do you have to lose? Absolutely amazing work. These guys were kind and straight to the point, no time wasted. I needed a tail pipe rerouted and muffler installed, they had it done in less than an hour and even lifted the car up not even 2 minutes after getting there. This place is an absolute hidden gem in Houston. I first ran across them in the turn of the century (in the yeaaaar twoooo thousaaaand) when I was young and cool and had a Camaro that had a leaky muffler that was was melting off part of the bumper cover and the owner fixed it up right away for a few bucks. I was so impressed that I went back to him for a catalytic converter which they also did affordably. Then I went on with my life and the years went by like so many grains of sand in an hour glass. One year, two years, three years....all the way to the present 18 years later when again I was in need of a catalytic converter (stupid P0420 code) and was trying to figure out what to do. I looked into an OEM converter but on an older car it's insane how expensive they are. I thought about places closer to me but their reviews were kind of all over the place and talking to them didn't give me much confidence so then I remembered my young and hip days again (In the yeaaaar twoooo thousaaand) and did a google search and holy crap, the same place was still there! I called up to make sure it was the same owner and sure enough it was. The place is a bit out of my way now but it was totally worth going there..In and out of there in 15 minutes with a universal converter welded on, great price, nice warranty, no more P0420 code in the car, and when I ran diagnostics, the downstream O2 sensor was having a great reading. Highly recommend them. You don't stay this long in business without doing honest work. read more

Great honest individuals who were able to complete the BMW Performance Exhaust mod for me at a very reasonable price when other shops were afraid to touch it. Every time I called, someone answered immediately and were informative on the openings in their schedule to accommodate me without too much of a delay. One thing I liked very much is how they would invite you to come look at what they're doing and explain to you the process. The entire job took more than 2 hours and even after the project was done, the employees even helped me figure out and fix some vibration issues I was having with the exhaust. It was just a simple bracket that needed to be removed. If you're looking for a friendly place to have exhaust work done, don't hesitate to call Affordable Mufflers to get you scheduled for an appointment. I am extremely satisfied with their work and have no issues. Thank you once again. read more

Ive been going here for about 5 or so years now. This IS your dad's muffler shop. Its not a nice new dealership or a JDM crowd oriented shop with fancy demos and wheels on display. No there isn't a swanky waiting room where they serve complementary snacks while someone does $25 of work for $300. This shop is just normal guys who provide a solid service at very honest pricing. No one is gonna quote you $80 for a spot weld here. Today I swung over to have the cat-back exhaust on my new Mustang aligned. I installed it myself, but without a lift and ability to stand under the car i just couldn't get leverage to align it 100%. The guys fixed it up for me in about five minutes of me pulling up. What more can you ask for? This has been my usual experience and I've never been unhappy with their work. read more
