There are payment plans available upon request. There is a pre-check in process available in one's online portal, as well. Do not wear lotions or deodorant. Restrooms are located near the lobby and examination rooms. This is my 3rd year for proactive mammogram care. I found it helpful to accompany my visit with my family medical history. Check-in is on the 2nd floor and has its own lobby. This process tends to be warm and friendly. Plenty of tvs playing a cooking show/ paper literature on various related procedures. My second to most recent visit, check in guided me thru check-in paperwork (insurance/current address) and to the additional check-in desk where full info is reviewed/payment made. Once you're all checked in, a staff member will escort you to the back for a separate waiting room. You're given a room to change into a short or full length gown. The rooms are kept cool. You are permitted to keep on skirt/ shorts/ pants/ sneakers, etc. Keep the front of your gown untied- to assist the tech with the procedure. While waiting, I held the gown together for privacy. One visit, a staff member gifted us snacks. That was nice. Keep your items in a locker with a key on a bracelet. I advise keeping convo with on-site tech to a bare minimum. Once it comes time for the mammogram, you want them to have full concentration. The procedure will involve flattening the breasts for a scan. If you have dense breasts, it is common for them to call you back in. My most recent visit, such was the case. Scheduling that follow-up appointment required a three week wait. That follow-up was not covered by my annual and it was hefty expense. Health is wealth / you are worth it! When there's a call back visit, you are escorted to a different room near the ultrasound devices. They make noise. That is typical. This procedure tends to focus on the breast needing further examination. I found speaking with my doctor / related medical assistant helpful in scheduling this follow-up. Covered paid parking is available in the garage at 3900 Junius. There are also metered spots around Baylor. Kindly bare in mind that there may be construction. I'll start by saying that the gods of mammography do not smile on me. There's always some sort of…read moreproblem, if not medical, then technical. I get lots of false positives, leading to needle biopsies or excisional biopsies. And if not that, then the wrong doctor's name gets put on my forms, which leads to a several months-long fiasco with the insurance company. So, I never expect a smooth ride. And this year was no different. I tried to call for an appointment, but never got through to anyone, just listened to the endless recording. So I tried to take the recording's suggestion and make an appointment online. I went to the url they offered, but I still had trouble finding it. It is many clicks away under very hard to see links. And when the page does come up, you don't get to see available appointment times, as is common for online appointment systems. Instead, you have to blindly request a day and time, and a second option, and then wait for them to email you a confirmation. Well, I did that, but I never got the confirmation email. So, two days before the appointment, I had to call (ugh. I put it on speaker phone and just kept working at my desk. About twenty minutes later, someone answered my call.) I said I needed to make an appointment. "Oh, did you want to cancel your current appointment?" "I didn't know I had a current appointment." "It's Friday." Yea, that's what I requested. "Maybe the confirmation went to your junk mail folder." It didn't. No surprise, that confirmation email didn't come through until the evening before the appointment. I had also completed the medical history paperwork online, "to save you time at check in." Don't bother. I've never had that work. When I get there, they don't have the paper work and for whatever reason, can't access it. It just disappeared into cyberspace. I've been to both the Junius and the location across from Northpark. They each have advantages and disadvantages. I like the one across from Northpark, and that's where I went this year. The parking is plentiful and free. There are a few parking spots in front of the building, which is located close to the Panera Bread on Park Lane. But those spots are harder to exit from, so I usually opt for the free parking in the garage. It's a covered entrance right into the building, which can be nice if the weather is unpredictable. The building is lovely and the elevator fast and modern. But the mammography office is really drab and dated at this location. It has free wifi, coffee, and water, but the chairs seem cramped, uncomfortable, uninviting. If you need a bathroom, you'll have to use the one out in hallway, outside the mammography office. The best thing about this facility is that everyone is wonderful. Everyone who works there -- receptionist, billing, technician, radiologist -- they are all some of the nicest people I've ever worked with in a medical setting. I really appreciate that. There's nothing pleasant about a mammogram. So having really nice people there certainly helps. As usual, it works best if you wear separates, and no powder, deodorant/antiperspirant. Once you're called, you leave the main waiting area and go to the next waiting area--your changing room. You'll have a private, locked room to change out of your top and into a front-opening cape. You'll wait in that room until the technician is ready. The hallway door to your changing room stays locked, so you can leave your stuff in there. A second door opens to the radiology room, and that door stays open during your X-ray so that your stuff is always within your view. The procedure takes only about 10 minutes, and you may get some stickers put on to mark your moles, scars, skin tags, or other distracting, benign things. When you're done, you step back into your changing room. There is deodorant there to use if you like, and sometimes they give you a small make up gift sample or something like that. Do count on a couple hours, as sometimes the wait gets long in both waiting areas. I gave it three stars because getting the system to get an appointment is completely unacceptable, the bogus paperwork online option just isn't real, and the office is a bit dated and uncomfortable. But the people make all the difference. The people are truly wonderful.

I underwent scoliosis surgery as a child, and since then have had quite a few changes to my spine…read moreand overall bone/joint health that had me seeking a consult for revision treatment options and general spinal care. I made it a point to drive from Central Texas just to see this clinic over the past three years. Their plan of care recommended a revision surgery, but in order to increase the likelihood for success, they suggested I lose weight to get to a BMI that the surgeon was comfortable proceeding with. I was scheduled for a one year follow-up, and additional imaging was repeated that showed moderate progression of spinal issues. Again, the challenge with surgery was weight, and the plan of care was to suggest pain management as an option in the interim, until we reached a weight that was satisfactory to proceed with surgery. This week, I called in to schedule a one year follow-up with one of their PA's. Acknowledging that it felt like a waste of time to see the surgeon because I had not reached their suggested BMI, I expressed my desire to schedule with a mid-level provider. This is where things went awry. I was informed that because my BMI was out of range, they would not be able to schedule an appointment, and instead I would receive a call from their office. I took to MyChart and sent a message to the PA I had seen before, requesting help with scheduling. A nurse responded quite tersely, saying that I am out of range to be seen based on my BMI, and an office visit would not be offered to me. After some pushback, the nurse responded that I would be offered a phone visit with a different PA to see how my pain management injections went. This didn't make any sense, since both providers work in the same system and have access to each other's clinical notes. Eventually, the PA who I originally wanted to see, messaged that a visit would not be needed since we wouldn't be discussing surgery at this time. They were willing to schedule, but again reiterated it wouldn't be necessary, since we wouldn't be discussing surgery. Pointing out my BMI as a reason for not proceeding with surgery is not the reason for this review. These are clinical guidelines they've decided to place as metrics for success. I understand that. What did disappoint me greatly, was using BMI as a method to gatekeep ongoing care and consultations on a lifelong illness like scoliosis. I have had both scoliosis and weight issues since childbirth. In fact, I am undergoing genetic sequencing to identify issues related to weight loss, and bone and joint issues, and wanted to relay these updates to this team in hopes of it somehow furthering their practice and understanding of the progression of this illness. To have a provider and their staff abruptly place BMI as a prerequisite to continue receiving conservative and preventative orthopedic treatment and evaluations, lacks the care and attention that Baylor Scott & White promotes to their patients. To be cut off in this manner leads one to believe that the providers are assuming the patient has not tried to make meaningful progress for weight loss in order to qualify for surgery, or, that the patient simply isn't serious about it. This is not true, and these are details that could've been unpacked, if there was interest in hearing the patient out and forming a plan together. There was not. When a clinic or provider establishes a barrier to access care without seeking to track the patient's progress, understand obstacles to success, and notate changes in their disease progression - that really speaks volumes to the lack of interest in actually treating patients. It changes the dynamic of the provider from a basis in care and wellness, to "surgery as a service" and the patient as just another person to operate on. This approach lacks humanity, respect for patients, and is shameful for an organization which prides itself on doing better. Update: I received a call from the office manager extending their apologies while they implement this BMI protocol. I hope this feedback improves care/pt outcomes.

When I showed up for my first appointment, Julie greeted me as if we were old friends. (Seriously, I wish I was that excited about my job). She is super nice, helpful, and really organized. If more people were as nice as Julie, this would be a really amazing world. And, she is not fake nice - she is legit kind. Dr. Martinez met with me and took some x-rays. Once they were ready, he walked me through the issues in my back. Nothing was a surprise, but it was really interesting to see how I "look" underneath my skin. It makes sense why my back and neck hurt. The first appointment was a bit scary for me (I had never been to a chiropractor), but Dr. Martinez is really good at calming the nerves, explains what he is doing before he does it, and moves quickly (so there is no time to be anxious). I felt better after the first adjustment. We came up with a plan, and the plan is working! I have actually slept through the night without pain (something that has not happened in a decade) for several nights. I can move around, exercise, and live my daily life without cringing. I have not had a migraine since I started seeing Dr. Martinez. The "rolling table" (not sure what it is called, but I call it a piece of heaven) is freaking amazing! I want one at my house! This is a process, so do not expect one appointment to cure everything; however, the improvements I have seen after a few weeks have been amazing. If you are a skeptic, go. If you have a chiropractor, come here instead because Dr. Martinez is better. you can meet Julie and realize that you need a dose of niceness in your day.
