Luis Marquez, of Tile & Marble Outlet in Watsonville, is professional, conscientious,…read moreknowledgeable, & very customer service oriented! I had tile installers working on the job that said I needed to order 2 more boxes of porcelain tile-the bid was short in material. I went to see Luis, who I had purchased from before, told him I had tile installers on the job, & needed 2 more boxes asap. He checked his stock to no avail, & thought of calling a local contractor that had purchased the same exact tile in the last month to see if he had any left over so that I could go purchase from that contractor direct & keep the tile installers working. WHO DOES THAT?! Luis Does! He is such a good guy & his dedication to his customers is legendary. I'm a professional property manager & real estate broker of 25 years-I know Extraordinary Customer Service when I see it, because it is so very rare. I strive to find superb service providers for all aspects of the many hats I wear, & I could say without a doubt that Luis Marquez is as good as it gets-an 11 out of a 10 for sure. I am delighted to have found his Watsonville shop-very different caliber of service than the Santa Cruz store-sorry to say-but true & I will ALWAYS use him & recommend him to my clients. I posted a review for him last year from a prior order, & felt compelled to post another review for him after how he tried to help me with this order. He will definitely exceed your expectations. Sincerely, Mary Faria, Corcoran Icon Properties, North San Jose, CA

I searched 3-4 stores for the best price on the tile for my home project. After looking at some…read morestores that inflated prices for their "showroom" or could't be bothered with helping me, I did my business with Louis. My tile came in before scheduled, I recieved my 2' x 2' tiles with no damages, and I got a fair price. Also, when we saw we had ordered a box or two short and the tile was coming from back east and had to be shipped, Louis got on it right away and made sure we had enough to finish the job with little to no lag time. Everytime a dealt with Louis, he was extemely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly! I WILL be going there to get tile for my next project even thoughit is a 35-40 minute drive for me. And......just for the record, I DO NOT do reviews until the job is completely finished.

Extremely poor customer service -- local customers deserve better…read more I reached out to Direct Flooring Outlet after seeing the reviews and wanted to get a local quote after finding the flooring I was looking for online. I used their website to request a free quote and was contacted by Dan Versman, the owner's son. Dan initially told me they would likely be able to match the price I had found and that he would put together a quote. What followed was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've had in a very long time. I received several one-sentence emails from Dan asking questions that I had already answered in my original email. Rather than continuing this back-and-forth, I simply asked if we could have a quick phone call to discuss it. No response. I then called the main office. The woman who answered gave me Dan's phone number and specifically told me to text him and that he would get right back to me. He never did. Not once. I waited until the following week, giving them plenty of time and being more than patient. Later that afternoon, I sent another email and called again. Eventually, at the end of the day, I received a response saying: "This isn't worth it for us, we're going to pass." That's it. I have worked in customer service for over 25 years, and this was honestly one of the worst experiences I've had dealing with a company. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I was a local customer trying to purchase a substantial amount of flooring and simply wanted a quote and a conversation about pricing. What makes it worse is that I called the main office afterward specifically to explain my experience. I was told that Lou Versman would be informed and would call me back. He never called. At some point, businesses need to be accountable for the level of service they provide. If you say you're going to call someone back, call them back. If you say you're going to provide a quote, follow through. If you don't want the business, that's fine -- just communicate that professionally and promptly. Your website has a commercial talking about the level of service you provide to local customers. Based on my experience, that message does not match the reality of dealing with your company. I ended up having to order the flooring from over the hill, which was a major inconvenience, simply because a local company couldn't be bothered to follow through with a basic customer inquiry. And Dan Versman's lack of communication, respect, and professionalism was obvious throughout this entire experience. The lack of care and respect shown toward a potential customer speaks volumes about how seriously he takes the people who are trying to give his business their money. And Dan -- giving your own company a 5-star review and then the company responding to that review looks pretty crooked from a customer's perspective. At the very least, it raises some serious questions about the credibility of the reviews on this business. SMH. If you're looking for flooring, go somewhere else. There are companies that will actually communicate with you, follow through, and treat you with basic respect.
