In summary: even if it's a bit chaotic, stick with it for a phenomenal haircut. Alexander Salon has a very warm friendly atmosphere, but it was very busy (supplemented by the dog running around!). I had an appointment with Nader, and when I arrived, the receptionist immediately washed my hair. I was a bit confused because I had not had any kind of consultation about my hair type or desired cut, but I stuck with it. I then had to wait, and Nader came by a few times to apologize for running late. After about 15 min, we spoke briefly about what I wanted and he cut my hair--as other reviews shared it was a real show with scissor flourishes and spins. The actual haircut was very fast and then Nader said that other hairdressers would blow dry my hair while he moved on to other clients. What proceeded was three different stylists each came by, blew dry parts of my hair before being called away to do another task, leaving my hair half-dried and hanging in round brushes until the next one showed up. Finally one man finished up and after Nader was done filming what looked like a before/after transformation for instagram with another client, he came by for a finishing touch. During the experience I was pretty doubtful and while everyone was polite, it wasn't the smoothest customer service experience. I didn't realize Nader was handling multiple clients at the same time and with all the hairdryers leaving mid-service it felt like I wasn't important enough to receive anyone's full attention. However, my hair looked incredible, the blow out lasted for a full week, and my hair continued to look incredible after washing and regardless of whether I curled or straightened it. I've never received so many compliments and almost a year later, now in a different state, I'm looking at photos of that haircut as a reference. This may have been an unusually busy day so grain of salt. But, overall, if you're looking for the classic bouncy layered haircut with face-framing pieces this is your place!! Just be prepared for a bit of chaos.

Sure it looked nice after being blow dried, and I typically play around with my hair afterwards to to be sure the cut flows nicely, but I felt uncomfortably rushed with her standing at the register waiting for me. I called to make a last minute appointment and Dana graciously invited me to come in so she could assess my hair and recommend the best option for my thick, straight Japanese hair. I was looking for volume with defined curls, and she suggested an airwave perm, which ended up being the perfect choice. I was given a wonderful shampoo and conditioning by a kind employee. Following the wash, Dana gave me a quick trim to add some layers and remove bulk from my one-length cut, and then really got to work. About 2.5 hours later, I walked out of the salon with beautiful, bouncy curls that looked just like the reference photos I brought in. Even better, I was told the perm should last about a year with proper care, which makes it totally worth it. I was also provided some fantastic Japanese hair serum, which was so kind and appreciated! When I got to the salon, she was in the middle of cutting another patrons' hair. I waited about 10 minutes before the gentleman washed my hair. Dana is very quick, from start to finish I was done in 30 minutes. She styled my hair at the end so I didn't notice the rushed work. After washing my hair, I noticed the jagged layers that don't fall right on one side. I wanted a simple cut with layers... I guess I will be wearing my hair up until it grows out. They were apologetic for the other salons mistreatment and showed me wonderful customer service. I'm a simple haircut, but that doesn't mean you wouldn't make good money off of it. They had bleached the roots a different color and had toned it unevenly. I'm so glad MG hair was able to see me after the other salon had ruined my hair and was lucky enough to get a last minute amount. Eric was so careful and diligent. He made sure not to damage my hair since it had already been bleached by the hair stylist from another salon. All my friends are saying my hair looks like a celebrity's after Eric fixed it. I don't think I'll be going to any other salons cause MG Hair gave me such a stellar job. Bonus: they even have snacks while you're waiting!

It took me less than an hour for an evaluation of how/where my hair is at plus wash and cut. They worked with my budget in terms of being able to take off the blow dry portion to reduce the cost but still use a towel to scrunch the excess water out (since it's winter out an all) which was very considerate of her. Every step was asked for approval before and / or information on why she was taking certain steps would be given in advance, like if I needed the deep conditioner or whatnot, which I appreciated. I had trouble since I forgot my card but was able to pay via venmo and cash I had on hand- I was grateful they had a quick work around. Additional perks: Usually open after 5, quite a few stylists for your needs, whether a simple cut or cute and extreme coloring and styling. I previously had single-process dark brown color applied to my natural hair at a salon, which I let wash out to a medium brown. I asked to go back to my natural color, to match my roots, slightly ashy dark blonde. I was looking to go from a level 6 to a level 8. My experience in the salon was good. My stylist was really personable, and seemed knowledgeable. I did everything recommended including a separate consultation beforehand. The issue was that, for some reason, the stylist had a harder time than expected lifting my hair. What was apparently supposed to be a single process with bleach turned into multiple, and my hair was not much lighter/extremely brassy. The stylist eventually gave up and threw toner in my hair, leaving my roots cool brown and my lengths/ends orangey-red colored. It looked absolutely horrible--I tried to tell myself it looked okay, even if it wasn't what I asked for, but it was god-awful. I tried hard to figure out how to discuss this with the kind stylist. Things completely fell apart at this point. The stylist was smiling and trying to convince me how good it looked, and even said "You'll be back by summer to go blonde!" ...this was really upsetting to hear, as I had come there and was paying a not-insignificant amount of money to do just that. When I went to pay, I was asked to pay close to double the agreed-upon consultation price because, I guess, the additional bleaching wasn't included in the price I was quoted. This wasn't discussed when the initial bleach process didn't reach the intended result, only when it came time to pay. I wasn't able to speak up about how terrible the result was when I had to argue just to pay the price that was set at the consultation. I left the salon in tears for the first time in my life and had to wait for a ride so that I didn't cause a scene crying on the T. It looked much worse. I looked much worse, honestly. I called back multiple times during business hours to ask if they would be willing to re-evaluate their work and discuss fixing it so it would at least be presentable, but no one answered. When I finally got someone on the phone, they completely shut me down and offered no resolution. Not even to dye over it with a dark color, or something. They stood by their stylist's skill and essentially called me a liar. I ended up having to fix it myself. I would not recommend this place or ever come back.
