I wish I had found Senju Salon years ago…read more Masa and his wife run the salon, and from the moment you walk in, you can tell they genuinely care about their clients. Masa is incredibly kind and polite. He isn't the kind of hairstylist who chats nonstop, but he's thoughtful, professional, and clearly takes pride in his work. Meanwhile, his wife was chatting with another client nearby, and the two of them were laughing together the whole time. It made the salon feel warm, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming. The first time I went, he asked if I had a photo of the haircut I wanted. I didn't. I know there are Japanese hairstyle websites out there, but as someone who isn't Japanese, I had no idea where to find the kind of reference photo he was talking about. Even so, he gave me a great haircut. The second visit was what really won me over. This time I described what I wanted instead of showing a photo, and Masa made it happen. Throughout the haircut, he checked in with me about the length of my bangs, how much layering I wanted, what he thought would suit my hair, and how much length we could comfortably remove from the back. I have chin-length, extremely straight hair, which is super low-maintenance but completely unforgiving of mistakes. If one side is even a little longer than the other, everyone can tell. Masa nailed it. I got so many compliments afterward. One friend even joked, "At least it's even this time!" which says a lot after my previous haircut elsewhere somehow ended up with one side noticeably longer than the other, and not in an intentional way. Yes, Senju Salon costs more than some places, but I've learned that paying less isn't a bargain if you spend the next two months looking in the mirror wishing your hair looked different. When I can, I'd rather pay a little more for a haircut that makes me happy every single day. I'll be recommending Senju Salon to anyone who asks. Finding a hairstylist you trust is surprisingly hard. I'm just glad I finally found mine.

I ended getting about 5 inches cut off and instead of cutting it all off at once, she cut it once and then asked me if it was the right length or if I wanted it shorter. Not happy with how my highlights came out. I just wanted basic highlights on my dark blonde hair,…read morebeen getting them for many years, 2-3x a year. I had booked an appointment for a full foil. I was early and the stylist was late. She told me I didn't need a full foil, so we did a partial foil instead. Unfortunately it didn't come out well. First, the whole foiled section is much lighter than the back/bottom portion of my hair (so really I did need a full foil and should've pushed back on that?). I have never had such a stark contrast between the foiled and unfoiled portions... it looks pretty bad when my hair is up, and as a mom, that is basically all the time. Second, some of the highlights themselves are uneven, being super bright (almost white) closest to my roots in a few spots. Never had this happen before, either. I tried to schedule a correction, but they said I would have to pay to get the bottom foiled as that wouldn't count as a correction. Fair enough per the technical definition... but my hair just doesn't look good overall and that would be the only clear fix from my perspective, since you can't darken bleached hair. Oh well. That was a huge expense. I definitely will not return. Haircut was fine! Though they did also blow it out some after I specifically said I didn't want it (for my schedule and for sensory reasons).

Patty spent a lot of time listening to products that I have used in the past and we talked about the color and cut before she got started. As a first time client, I felt very welcomed and was extremely pleased with the outcome. I had a huge white streak, grey roots, and a reddish-brown faded mop and I left with all of my hair the same color. The salon is also clean, staff are soooo friendly (they told me I had a nice nail shape) and it's a very accessible location off the 57 Watertown Yards bus. I live in Boston and think it's worth commuting here if you want to get your nails done. Now I'm a bit more budget-conscious and definitely don't do my nails as much anymore b/c it's a monthly expense (and addicting for sure), but if I had a party or were going somewhere, I'd totally come back to Watertown Yards to get my nails done at Leisure Nails.

There were two women working, and they were very friendly and accommodating. There was just enough space for the stroller next to my pedicure chair, so I could happily soak my feet and enjoy the massage chair while Lee did my MIL's nails first. My feet really needed some TLC and were very happy after the soak, short massage, and scrub. I wish we could have opted for a longer massage! Lee did a great job with my nails. I opted for a festive color and feel ready for the holidays. A number of regulars came by while we were there, which was a nice sign. The prices were very reasonable too. I plan to come back!

I have gotten my haircut from Scott for about 4 or 5 times and can confidently say that he is among one of the best in his craft in the area. I consider myself to be quite picky when it comes to haircuts (I've always had trouble finding a suitable hairstyle prior to this), but I credit Scott for helping me identify numerous styles that I am pleased with. He also never fails to impress me with his creativity, which I also thought was difficult for someone with my particular hair and head shape, and his finishing technique with hairspray is simply amazing. On top of that, Scott has a great sense of humor and I always enjoy a lively chat with himduring the haircut. I would therefore recommend Scott unreservedly for anyone looking to get a creative cut like you've never had before in the Chinatown area - at a very reasonable price as well. read more

I had never had this terrible haircut in my whole life. This place is dirty and my hair stylist named Scott was horrible. He cannot speak English and I talk to him in Chinese and he does not want to communicate with me about what I want. I showed him a picture of the hair style, he said he can do exactly the same but it comes out totally different as I asked. His attitude is bad too, constantly rolling his eyes when I am talking to him, always give me the look that he had enough. I asked him to trim a little bit more of my hair and he said i am wasting his time. Listen to the bad reviews, do not go to this place! I will not ever!! read more

I highly recommend this place. At first I was ify about this place but I went for it. Scott is very professional and has superior service. Scott is one of those people that wont keep you bored while getting a haircut. He's very funny and nice. At first I didn't know what kind of haircut to get so he suggested great ideas. It came out perfect, Scott knows what looks best for you. I love how he took his time to make every inch of my hair perfect. Not like other salons that rush and want to get it over with. After yelp review. I decide to give a try and call to make an apoinment. I always had perm but this time i want to change to tried digital perm. Scott was took his time and carefully to cut my thick hair. and was able to give me a really nice perm. He's really good at cuting hair as well. Most of time the stylist wiil end up giving u a mullet but (scott) was able to give me a trendy style so when my hair grows longer and it's still pretty nice look. hightly recommended and I'd definitely go back again. read more

What's most frustrating is that I felt like my concerns and requests were largely ignored throughout the appointment. I left feeling shocked and upset, especially given the price (450) and the salon's reputation. I'm posting this because I genuinely would like the salon to make this right, whether through a refund or correction with a different stylist.

At some places I've felt aloof when trying to make conversation and sat in a silent awkward chair has my hair is cut, but not at Kent's!
