Absolutely fantastic salon, and our experience there today was incredible. I took my two kids, ages 3 and 6, there for a haircut. The owner was amazing with my son, had him smiling and giggling as he cut his hair! Not a single tear, and his hair looks perfect for summer; short in the back with a bit of length in the front for character. My daughter's cut was beautiful! It was the first time she has had it shaped, and he gave her a blow dry at the end. She was so happy, and I couldn't believe how nice he got it to frame her face. Our go-to salon now! read more

I have to start by saying that even though there was a small miscommunication about my appointment time (partially my fault!) and I had to wait a while before getting my hair done, the result allowed me to still give 5 stars! I was so nervous to trust my hair with anyone new after moving to this area from out of state. But I was desperate for new highlights and a trim! I was scheduled with Gerta, and I can't say enough good things about her. Due to me messing up the time, she had to stay way later than she had planned to go home. She could have asked to reschedule but she didn't hesitate to take me in ! I simply had to wait for her to finish her client who was actually scheduled at the time I thought I was (which was fine as they were lovely and we were all chatting together). When it came to my hair, she listened to what I wanted, looked at a picture I showed, and took the best approach based on my hair type, existing / faded highlights, etc. She takes her time but that's only because she wants her work to be perfect. On top of that, she has such a lovely and kind personality. I opted out of the blow dry because it was late and raining , but she put all the products in my hair to prepare me to blow dry and straighten at home. She trimmed my hair to the exact length I wanted, then offered the new client 20% coupon at the register. Now that I am home and hair is dry, I could not be happier with the result! Been to this salon on a few occasions and have seen Julia each time I've gone. There hasn't been a time where I didn't leave the salon happy with the color and cut. I have been able to get an appointment easily every time, which is great because I'm the type of person who waits until last minute when I can no longer handle my hair. I only gave them a 4 because their prices don't match with the appearance of the salon. I would expect that if I am paying around $125 for a partial highlight, wash, cut and blow dry the salon's appearance would compare to other salons I've been to (less outdated) - I should mention that I have yet to go to their new location so I'm basing the salon's appearance on their previous location. read more

One star is too good for this business. I as a licenced cosmetologist went here on a recommendation by a family member. It was a huge mistake and I will never let my family go there again. (Why they went there in the first place is beyond me) When you first walk in its nice enough a ridiculous amount of products are up front in an unnecessary display of quantity of products. A good salon will choose it's favorite few lines of product and use and promote them only instead of having an enormous amount of products and not knowing heads nor tails about them. There was no receptionist and the stylist that came running over was nice but frazzled. She took my name and told me to come back in thirty minutes but after a few moments more of conversation she changed that to be back in ten to fifteen minutes. She then rushed off to get back to her client. I left came back and the guy who was to do my hair was ringing his previous client out and taking a few other people's names down. Then he called out to me and proceeded to try and talk to me across the waiting area. My stylist was Tom a young Asian fellow who was soft spoken to the point that I had to lean in to hear him when i was standing across from him at the register. He asked if I had already had my name written down on the waiting list. I said yes. He then asked what I needed done and I told him I need a haircut. He nodded and then walked off turning around about five feet later to look at me and wave me along. I followed him hoping for the best but should have left right then and there. When I got to his station it wasn't as clean as it should have been and he wound up sweeping while i was sitting there. His comb and shears were clean but instead of having his tools in their proper places he had some hanging out in open drawers in front of me. Not sanitary! But for some reason I was still willing to give him a try. (I'm thinking it was desperation because my hair was getting so shaggy) So I sat in the chair and I had to start the conversation as he just stared at me. I said to him I want it nice and short, like a men's cut in the back and sides but a little longer on top. First off I will say bravo his cape was clean and he did use a paper neck strip. HOWEVER he tucked the neck strip into my shirt so hair bits wound up down the back of my shirt. Can you say itchy! Secondly he started the baseline of the haircut properly but then it went to hell in a handbasket. He started off parting my hair on the left side of my head which I quickly corrected because I part my hair on the right always have always will. So he parted it that way to start and then as he shuffled my hair around wetting it with freezing cold water he parted it down the middle. I thought maybe he would part it again once he had the baseline done but I was mistaken in that thought. He began the cut at the back of my head which is fine and he started by cutting vertically again fine. The problem comes in when he started jumping around my head cutting a little here cutting a little there and then switching around to the other side of my head and doing the same jumpy gapped cutting. Third he did not cross check his cut. That is when if you have been cutting vertically you then go and make sure everything is good and even and properly cut horizontally. The end result of a haircut that has not been crosschecked is an uneven poorly blended too long mess that I can't even slick off to the side because of how he cut it. His conversation skills were nonexistent he attempted conversation once but then never contributed again. I took my glasses off when he nearly knocked them off with his comb instead of asking me to remove them. He caught my earrings with his comb more times than I could count and nearly cut my necklace in two how he even managed to get the string that high up on my neck I have no clue. To wrap up the cut he used the blow dryer to blow away the little bits of hair and didn't try to upsell any of the products that the salon carries even when I went over to look at the products he didn't say anything. I doubt he even could make a good recommendation. I will be going to a different salon in the near future to get this mess fixed. I do not recommend this salon. I will never go back. This was a pathetic excuse for customer service and a terrible haircut. There was more professionalism in the salon at my beauty school than there was in this salon and I'm not just talking about the stylist that I had. Other stylists were chatting with each other more than they were with their own clients and it was utterly dissapointing. So it was all around dissapointing and I do not recommend this salon to anyone you would probably be better off at Supercuts they at least have regular new training sessions for their staff. I came here for the first time about 6 weeks ago, and I had the pleasure of sitting in Greta's chair. All I needed was a single process root re-touch, and I could not have been more pleased with my whole experience. The salon is clean and everyone is so nice. Gerta in particular is so sweet and thoughtful, and her expertise in her craft is very apparent. My color is always even and vibrant. I'm about as low maintenance as it gets, I don't get a blowout or even haircuts that often. I was coloring my own hair for years, but now that I've met and experienced Gerta, she's my girl, and always makes me feel like nothing else matters when I'm in her chair. 10/10 would recommend. They do take walk ins if there's availability, but it's always to call ahead if you can. There's also 1 hour parking on the street. read more

STAY AWAY from this place. While I was there, a ~7 year old boy, the son of one of the hairdressers, was running around, moving my chair AS MY HAIR WAS BEING CUT. *I* had to tell him several times to not move my chair. The hairdresser pointed out to the child that she had a SHARP OBJECT in her hands. The kid refused to stop. The mother was busy styling someone else's hair and said nothing the entire time he was moving my chair. I am kicking myself for not having just gotten up and left mid-cut. Apparently this is a common occurrence and multiple hair dressers asked me to complain to the owner since they are frustrated with the situation of a child always running around the salon. Beyond that, they give bad haircuts too. I went needing a trim. Up until a day before, I'd been getting compliments on my hair when I'd wash it and let it air dry. Now it is uneven and looks worse than it has in years. I told the hairdresser, Julia, that I never style my hair and I need a wash and go cut yet she put in a ton of layers and "texturized" it so that it looks choppy, uneven, frizzy. The only reason I used to go here was because of Sarina (sp?) but she's left. Now, it's just a really unprofessional place that gives you a bad haircut for $50. I'm now in search of a new salon to fix the way my hair was butchered. I went in having long hair. I'm now forced to chop it off to fix what was done to it. read more

Robert consistently gives a great cut. He listened to what we wanted, both myself and daughter, and did exactly so... has a great attitude, cares about his skills. Incredibly unhappy with the cut done on my daughter yesterday. The "stylist" was a short quiet Asian man, from another review I would guess his name was Tom? He asked what we wanted and then completely ignored that. We wanted 2 inches off, he barely took 1/2 inch. He had my daughter STAND for the entire haircut. He didn't wet the hair at all when cutting and didn't seem to even know how to get a straight line. He asked if we wanted to wash her hair AFTER the cut (whaaaat?!). DON'T GO! They will try to rip you off! I took my elderly mom for a simply trim that I was treating. First time there & they advertised 20% off for new clients on their website. The hair stylist was nice but pushy & did a good job considering it was just a very simple task of a trim of an elderly woman whose hair was already short. I gave simple instructions but the hair stylist was wayyyy to pushy on things my elderly mom had no interest in. Then when I specifically stated no blow drying. She of course proceeds to blow dry my mom's hair until I had to insist and stop her. Of course all tricks to add to the bill. Then when it was time to honor the 20% off at the front desk, I was laughed at & told the price they gave me was discounted enough. Then the hair stylist chimed in that she did kinda blow dry my mom's hair. Lol. Despicable! Knowing full well she was instructed not to but tried it regardless. The manager then tried to further embarrass me because I brought up the 20% new client discount by proceeding to speak in another language right next to me, talking about me. lol. Honestly I had to calm myself down because I would've given my piece of mind to her but because I was w/my mom and she doesn't like confrontations, I had to swallow my anger. How dare they try to rip off an elderly woman?! I regret going there & tipping the "lying"hair stylist. You have fair warning. This is the second time I was there and while the first time the person who helped me did an adequate job, I was extremely disappointed this time. My hair, which is ear length, is sticking out at the sides by my ears. For that matter it is not even. There are spots where it wasn't cleaned up at all, and my sideburns look really bad. He didn't clean up my neck or my hair at all afterwords, and in terms of personality the service was very lacking. It seemed like he wanted me in and out as quick as possible. I obliged by paying in cash, though he was barely able to count back change. I actually had to tell him how much to give back. (50-19= ? ... Really??!!) ROBERT gets an A+++++++. He has been the one to cut my hair for years. He listens to EXACTLY WHAT I WANT. Robert styles AS he takes off dead ends, taking minimal length. He helps my hair grow healthy in a horse shoe 90 with long layers, now grown to mid-back. He has given good advice on products, especially deep conditioning for my bleached highlights. Other hairdressers had kept my hair at an aggravating shoulder length for years at various hairdressers, even while i kept asking them, pleading with them to let it grow long (but no, they all started by chopping all dead ends, then spending an hour trying to style and straighten - cutting another unnecessary inch or more off, sometimes to a total of three inches chopped off every six weeks). Robert is very available and has years of experience. Go to Robert if you hate having to hide under hats after your haircuts. read more

i didnt know you could totally mess up a trim until i came here. i was told my stylist was the manager so i expect her to be the best of teh worst. i dont like to spend a ton of money for little trims so i thought i would give it a try and boy do i regret it now. she insisted she wasnt "scissor happy" but wow she really was. by the middle of my hair cut it my hair was completely dry and frezzy and instead of wetting it again she continues to CHOP my hair off. I told he i was GROWING my hair out and was hesitant in the first place to get it done but that didnt stop her. she put some hair grease in it and was done with me. i walked out shocked and had to run home to shower and style my hair myself. ill never go again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Snip Plus may be a gem. I took my son (5 years old) to have his hair cut there. Our stylist (Kristin) was excellent. She was patient with his fidgety movements and was able to effect a very nice hair cut (he had pretty long hair when we entered). The prices are reasonable ($16), and the place is clean. I used to live in Boston and eventually moved to Watertown, it took me awhile to find a place that knew how to cut my hair and cut it well consistently. I heard from a lot of my friends about Robert at snips plus, he is the best barber I've ever had. Unfortunately I've had to move to New Jersey, and i still haven't found a place to cut my hair to the quality it was cut by Robert. If you are going to get a cut in this area, I would definitely recommend going to him, he's good at what he does, but further more he is great to his customers. Do no go to Snip Plus. I've been twice. The first time I was ignored for a full five minutes while the entire staff watched TV. NO ONE was working, literally. They did eventually cut my hair but the damage was done. The second time I arrived at 10:00 AM to get a haircut which is when Snip opens. Helen arrived late, never fully opened until another employee arrived (he opened btw) and as I walked in after waiting 20 minutes (they opened 20 minutes late) I hear Helen mutter under her breathe " I can't believe he's still here." Now if I owned this place Helen would be fired instantly. The environment they foster is bad, sometimes even downright hostile to customers. Tom cut my hair. He was kind and did a great job. I'd recommend he leaves as soon as he can. He can do better. As I left Helen and friends were looking at new shears. I was hoping she was a receptionist, at least that would explain why she could not cut my hair. Instead I believe she just WOULD not, she should be ashamed of her behavior.
