Returned for another pedicure. Anna is fantastic. She's always ready when I get there, is friendly and does a beautiful pedicure. She never leaves me waiting to wonder when to leave, she keeps track and comes over to remove the toe separator thingee and assure me that the polish is dry. I had a fairly frustrating experience. I was very clear that I did not want a lot of angled trimming around my face or really intense layers because I don't like how it looks. I was also very clear that I have been growing my hair out and I didn't want it to be cut too much. I repeated this at least 5 times throughout the appointment to make sure it was clear. The woman proceeds to tell me repeatedly that she will do a lot of layers because "that will look good on you". I left with essentially a ton of hair cut off and felt completely ignored by the stylist. Now I have to wait months for these awful chunky layers to grow back out. I would not recommend this place if you want them to actually listen to you. read more

I had a 12:00pm appointment and was called at 11:15am telling me I was late for my 11:00 appt. Sorry, but it was 12:00pm. When I was asked if I could go in at that moment, as I was answering no I cannot , the person on the other end hung up on me. Rude. I showed up for my 12 o'clock and realized the person who called me was my manicurist. I asked her if she called me but she never responded. I recognized her voice. I stayed for that appointment, but next time I will go elsewhere. read more

I had never gone to a salon before. I attempted to work out my issue with the owner but it's clear they blame the customer for anything that is a misunderstanding. I wanted my hair cut and highlights and the white covered. I absolutely specified this on the phone. I got there and I had to ask for them to do anything. The stylist was reluctant to do anything and I had to ask to do these things I specified. It seemed like a huge waste to them. I was told I could go to the store and get the hair dye and they did me a favor by dying it. This is what I called for. They didn't HEAR what I wanted. I was seated in the chair and hoped for the best. I am absolutely disgusted. I kept hearing the whole time about this difficult endeavour. You want to go to a salon and believe it is run well. The secretary was very late and as I was trying to get my hair done the entire time the phone was ringing off the hook in a customers name was being repeated. I don't think this is the experience that someone wants. They did not even want to blow dry my hair. I tried to not show I was upset but it was a terrible experience. The cut later bounced back to what was layers to something else. I attempted to work it out with the salon so they could do something for me but they have my money and that is what counts to them. It is clear this salon favours the easier hair to work with. I will def look for another salon that does what the customer wants, takes time to listen to the customer, and cares. I am posting the review as it was the blaming they did towards me for the miscommunication. This is a case where they believed the customer was wrong. Unreal for a first salon experience! I doubt they will even bother to read this review since they really didn't care about how I feel, but they need to take a good look at how this place is open and run. It certainly wasn't a luxurious experience. read more

Part of growing old is getting your hair not work for you anymore. I'm always complaining about how my hair is just not right. Matters got worst when I colored it two years ago and apparently the color had gone bad and my brown hair turned pitch black. I had gone to FedEx office around the corner from this beauty salon, I walked in and asked to speak to their color specialist, Anna came and looked my hair all over and she said she can fix my hair a little. We decided on color and highlight. I asked for a stripe of purple. The color turned out fine but the highlight and the purple stipe didn't work. What I appreciate from Anna the stylist was that she didn't wait for me to complain about my hair not taking to the highlight, but she redid the job for me. What else I liked about this salon was all who worked there had very nice haircut and colors and they were very nice to their customers. Total pleasant atmosphere! read more

They charge you for taking gel polish off when you are getting a gel manicure. That is on top of how expensive they are compared to other salons.They take a very long time to do a gel manicure. Start to finish around one and a half hours. On top of all that my nails chipped three days later. read more

Last week I stopped by to inquire about a price for a particular service and I received an answer. A few days later I sent my developmentally delayed 22yr old daughter to receive said service. Now I usually don't do this for the fear of my daughter being misled, manipulated or taken for a ride. With that said, she begged me to allow her to do something "independent" as an adult. Thinking about this I understood where she was coming from. She knows how to get there, how to get home, had money on her for payment etc. So against my better judgement I allowed her to go by herself. A couple hours went by and she hadn't come home yet. I picked up her younger sister from school and decided to go to Salon844 to check on how she was doing. I arrived right at the time she was getting ready to pay. The lady told her what her bill was and I almost fell over! It was almost double the price she quoted me a few days earlier! When I questioned her about the price difference she stuttered a little and then told me it was due to a different type of powder and that happened to be more expensive. I was extremely upset, paid the bill, told her to have a great day and that we would not be returning! No one told my daughter any pricing prior to start. One would think when a customer explains (especially a person who has difficulty explaining things and who is noticeably mentally handicapped) what they want done they would be quoted a price to make sure they have enough funds to afford said service! I'm appalled of the treatment my daughter received, as well as the bs excuse I was given for the price increase!! I have 3 daughters and myself. I'm a single mother on a fixed income! Only 2 times a year I can afford to pay for all of us to go get our nails done professionally! Because of this only one of my daughters were able to get their nails done, while the other two's feelings are hurt and disappointed! I have gone to this salon for the past few months and have been pleased every time. The pedicure chairs are literally the best I have ever experienced. I believe for a pedicure and French gel fill it is around $50. I usually work with Linda who is great. I have had my hair done 1x with Amanda where I got a partial highlight and very cute bob cut! She did a great job and the price was very reasonable! I was going to schedule with her again but was told she is only available Saturdays, which I am not unfortunately. I have an appointment for a trim with someone else, but expect they'll be great as well. I have no had issues with getting appointments, but I tend to call a day or two ahead of time. I think trying to be a walk-in anywhere can be risky. I would recommend! read more

This was my go-to salon for about 3 years out of convenience, and the hairdressers I had were very kind. I was even willing to overlook the rude blonde receptionist who made an effort to be nice to white patrons, but herself to people of color. But today, I explicitly showed a photo of the hair I wanted (granted a perm is expensive, damaging and semi-permanent) and was given my 80s nightmare. I look like a prize winning poodle. Hopefully, it will in fact relax after 2 weeks, but there was a lot of miscommunication (pricing/technicalities) that wasn't cleared up until I spoke to the boss.
