I knew that my LSAT score was going to be important, especially because my college GPA was not impressive. After thoroughly researching all of my LSAT preparation options, I chose Mark Sacks and ScoreItUp. Course material is extremely helpful and insightful in helping you raise your score. The most unique thing about ScoreItUp is Mark Sacks, the owner and instructor for all classes. I took ScoreItUp during the summer and just finished the fall course last night. Can't say enough good things about the course and Mark. The following were items that were important to me when looking for the best course for me: 1) Reviews 2) Costs 3) Best Value 4) Location After weeks, if not months, of researching, SIU was the obvious choice for me. It had great reviews, the costs were much lower than any other competitors, you get the most class time (mainly lectures with mock exams on the weekends), and he's a local guy. And then once you actually start taking the course you realize how good he is at breaking down the LSAT. I wouldn't be surprised if he slept with a prepbook next to his bed or used it in place of a teddy bear. Mark knows his stuff. On top of it he's a pretty funny dude. He makes it so that the class is not boring; considering that you're working on material that is difficult and serious. Plus he sounds like Seinfeld!! Additionally, he gives you examples of real cases, brings in guest speakers to talk about prosecuting, and spends one lesson talking about subjects most competitors can't. If Cameron happens to be the guest speaker be ready for a good time. And you'll be surprised when you see him. All this is very valuable to anyone interested in a career as an attorney. Good stuff. I'm forgetting to mention happy hour. Because i have kids i could only take him up on his offer once but it was well worth it. The time i went was when Cameron joined us. So that was just fun, but more importantly it helps you to break out of your shell, meet people you've never talk to before, and relax a bit. If i had more time and less responsibilities i would have been there more often. Mark is just a cool guy that knows how to teach the LSAT. Takes his time to answer all questions. No such thing as a dumb question in his class. As matter of fact, he gets upset when no one asks questions. So that's just another good characteristic of him. There's so many more good things i could mention but i'm not getting paid for this hahaha :) . However, just to be fair here are the only drawbacks for ME: 1) For the summer, class size is rather large. The fall was about a third the size but shorter length i think. 2) Mark could be a bit stricter with some of the student chatter. It's hard to focus on logic games or explanations when people behind you are talking. For the most part he did a good job of controlling this. 3) If you take the course at UCI prepare to purchase monthly evening passes. I think they were about 40 bucks. Can't remember. This was for the Summer course. Fall is free. Mark also mentioned that in future classes it would be free. All other locations are free as well. That's about it. The positives heavily outweigh the negatives. Highly recommended. Regardless of how i score, he did his job. The rest is on me and how much time i spend studying outside of class. After his course i leave feeling like I can do any problem. My timing is off but that's something i can work on by practicing more. Hope this helps! read more

When I was in college, I was in a pre-law fraternity and so I knew about numerous LSAT prep companies. There are a bunch of them out there, and a lot of the courses came to speak. When the time came when I had to choose a course, I knew about a lot of options. I spoke to people who had taken various courses. Each had some good things to say about their course, but ScoreItUp stood out to me above the other courses, especially the big LSAT companies because of how personalized everything at ScoreItUp was. When Mark came in and spoke to us about his course, I was super impressed. I'm the type of person who has a lot of doubts and I need to have complete faith before I start something, or else I won't get much out of it. Honestly speaking, LSAT studies are pretty difficult, and WILL drain you at times. But Mark is a funny dude and he makes it so much better. He tells you stories about his experience as a lawyer and sets up opportunities to hear speakers talk about the legal field and what not. That was pretty awesome. I saw a huge improvement in my LSAT score and it enabled me to get accepted into a great law school. I could not have been more pleased. Mark teaches you the fundamentals very carefully, and makes sure you understand them. Then toward the latter part of the course, he also has a set schedule to have you take a bunch of proctored practice exams. Instead of taking the Classroom Course, I signed up for the online classes through the Score It Up website. I found the overall layout of the site to well done and easy to navigate. Before signing up I spoke with Mark about supplementing the online course with one on one tutoring. I am doing both to prepare for the LSAT on July 15th. Each lesson is split up into short 3-5 min videos that allows Mark to speak precisely about each topic for the lesson. Furthermore, there was not a single video where a topic felt glazed over, which I have found in other online classes. The biggest advantage I found to this setup as a Student was that if there was a specific area I was struggling in I could just simply re-watch the topic video. You do not have to worry skimming through a long lesson to try and find the topic. For the tutoring Mark was incredibly helpful. He had an answer to each of my questions and helped me evaluate my overall prep in a manner I did not think was possible. I only had a single compliant about the online course and it was merely a minor technical/personal preference that I have already shared with him. The overall content of the course was incredible. For those who do not live in the Orange County Area and would like to take a SIU prep class I highly recommend the online course. Here is my take on these three things. Quality: I cannot imagine a better, more thorough or more effective LSAT prep course. The clarity of Mark's explanations, his sense of humor, and his ability to communicate effectively in a classroom setting are simply amazing. Value: This course offers more instruction hours and better prices than anyone. I compared it and its not even close. For me, though, the biggest value of all went way beyond the LSAT prep. Well, for all those 5-star reviews, I'm here to attest to all of them! Taking Mark's class was one of the smartest decisions I have thus far made for my education! I was a graduate from UCLA 2014. Immediately after graduation all Political Science majors start thinking about the LSAT. Joining everyone in my graduating class, I decided to drop $1500 into one of those mainstream prep courses. Long story short, the courses did not work for me. The books further caused me to lose motivation. At that point, I tried everything. Frustrated, I searched other LSAT prep courses while taking a year off to work. I then came across Scoreitup. I emailed Mark and we schedule to talk. I explained my situation to him and he understood the exact problems most students like myself faced when it comes to prepping for the test. Definitely, Mark was very helpful. The result of my decision for choosing Score it Up was due to a referral from a friend, My friend is finishing up her last year in law school and told me that Mark is "really good" and that I should " take him because he will make a difference in your score." My decision to do Score-It-Up initially was due to the price being cheaper than some of the corporate test prep companies. While this was a huge incentive, I quickly learned that Mark's class had plenty to offer. The LSAT can be extremely intimidating and nerve racking, but Mark has an ability to make each session fun with his stories about working in law, while also keeping the sessions intensive. I looked forward to attending each class! The thing I liked most about Mark's program is that he constantly is checking in on the students and has a high attention to detail. He will stay on a question to ensure that everyone understands the reasoning behind the answer, and he will stay behind after class if there are any further questions. In addition, he offers significantly more hours of instruction and proctored exams than other companies. His program includes 7 practice tests on the weekends that are in a simulated "test day environment", and he also assigns weekly homework with practice tests during the week. I cannot stress enough how much taking these practice tests helped me improve my score. I went up from a 147 on my initial diagnostic test to a 169 in a simulated practice exam! I cannot speak higher on how much Score-It-Up positively impacted my LSAT experience. Score-It-Up allowed me to feel confident on test day, because I knew that I had put in the work. Mark and ScoreItUp are incredibly valuable resources and I encourage anyone who wants to do better on the LSAT to send Mark an email. I raised my LSAT score by 11 points by following SIU's plan. The classes are excellent and all taught by Mark himself, he takes the time to make sure everything is explained clearly while also pushing students with timed sections from real LSAT's. Mark also offers 1-on-1 tutoring if you think you might need a little extra help on a particular area, and he charges very reasonable rates. I did a couple 1-on-1 sessions and we caught some of my weaknesses early on and this definitely helped raise my score! He comes in very prepared, and helps students to break down the logical games and analytical reasoning sections into bite-size pieces through careful diagramming. Also, he fosters a friendly environment with students by holding group lunches -- we all went to the cafeteria together on the first day, and then today he went to pick-up sandwiches for everyone at Togo's. He also lectures on what it's like to go to law school (he graduated Harvard and was classmates with Barack Obama) and be a lawyer, including his experience as a corporate lawyer and now OC Deputy District Attorney. What's more is his price is very reasonable -- for a full 5- week session with 100 hours of prep time including official test prep materials plus his own handouts, he only charges $999 (with a potential $200 discount, if you sign up in time) and with smaller packages available for people who have less time and just want the basics. I was beyond excited when I received a score of 172, over 15 points higher from the initial diagnostic test. Score It Up is a top-notch prep course and Mark Sacks is an excellent instructor. Scoreitup, overall is a great LSAT Prep Course to take! It improved my score by 20 points! Mark Sacks, the instructor is very easy to understand and more than willing to help clarify anything you did not understand both inside and outside of the class. He makes the material a bit more interesting and fun to learn! The learning environment is great! His tips and learning techniques were very helpful. He is also very educated about the law school process...he himself scored in the 99th percentile and graduated from Harvard law! I am a firm believer that an LSAT prep course is necessary to maximize your potential score. A professional will help break down concepts and will answer difficult questions, saving you countless hours of headache. Mark does an exceptional job as an instructor. Not only did he help me fully understand the core of the LSAT, but he also did an excellent job of keeping the class entertaining, helping me retain my focus (this was important to me due to my extremely hectic work schedule. I was working 55-60 hours a week so without the excitement in Mark's teaching method, I would have inevitably given in to my own exhaustion). Personally, I had an extremely poor undergraduate GPA due to my conflicting work and school schedules. I was WAY under the 25th percentile for even the top 100 schools. My only hope in getting into a decent school was to perform exceptionally on my LSAT. I initially started studying on my own. After 3 months of frustration, I saw only a marginal increase in my score, so I decided to join a prep course. I shopped the internet and compared a variety of different courses, including Mark's. I decided to go with Mark after reading a few reviews and noticing his price point. He cuts out the middleman and instructs the course himself, keeping his overhead costs minimal. The savings are then passed down to the consumer (us). His course, when I took the class, was at least a few hundred dollars cheaper than any of his competitors. In retrospect, after taking his class, I probably would have paid more than his competitors anyway to obtain Mark as an instructor. Within the 2 months he instructed me and everybody else, I saw a dramatic increase in my score (21 points). His mock exam sessions and his method of instruction were monumental in helping me attain the efficiency necessary to complete the exam effectively. During the actual exam, though I scored a few points below my average, I still ended achieving a score good enough for many top schools. I ended up in a top 20 law school in the US (also one of my top choices). I came into the course with ambitious dreams of earning a 160 on the exam, and while it took a plethora of hard work and instruction from Mark, I was able to achieve it. Without a doubt Score It Up is the best LSAT prep course around in terms of instruction quality and value. I took Mark's class this past summer and was very, very pleased by his enthusiasm in teaching the material. Granted, learning about reading comprehension and logical reasoning strategies may not always be the most exciting way to spend a summer evening but Mark managed to make the 4 hour classes interesting with his stories of serving as an attorney. Most importantly, Score It Up helped me to improve significantly on my actual LSAT score. I went into his class having already taken the LSAT and another prep class once before. Even already knowing the basics about the the exam, Score It Up helped me to improve nearly 10 percentage points from my previous LSAT for an overall score in the top 5% . I believe that it was Mark's emphasis on taking multiple practice exams that lead to this significant increase. I am so thankful for all of the time and energy that is invested in teaching this class. Mark Sacks is a highly qualified LSAT instructor. He is a Harvard Law graduate, teaches law classes, works as a D.A. and has taught LSAT prep for over 14 years. I wasn't sure what to expect when I took my first ScoreItUp LSAT Prep class, but I realized after that there is no way you can get an adequate score on the LSAT without taking sufficient classes. The online course that is offered additionally helps reinforce concepts that are learned in class so students can watch Mark's recorded lectures and get the same information and LSAT prep that is taught in class. Mark not only teaches the course extremely well, but he invests time after class to mentor and tutor students. He gives plenty of stories and guidance throughout class and after to help students with career direction and comic relief through the challenging LSAT concepts. I took multiple classes with Mark and I bumped up over 20 points from my initial score to my final scores leading to the official exam. I first heard about Score It Up earlier this year at CSUF. Mark is very welcoming and is willing to help in any way possible for his students. I have read previous reviews on students scoring very well and was eager to begin the course. Since the start of the course until now I do see a big difference in my score. He provides us with great tools and methods on how to breakdown each question. Being in a class setting is useful because you are focused on what is in front of you. I do enjoy having mock exams every week because it gives you an understanding of how a REAL exam will go. To add on, when I first took my mock exam I was nervous and after a few weeks it has become a norm. By far the best program to help you study for the LSAT. My score jumped up by almost 23 points from mock exam to close to the final exam. Mark made prepping for the LSAT fun, which is a pretty amazing feat. I actually looked forward to class because Mark was such an engaging instructor who made learning enjoyable. When I first started the class, I was really struggling with logic games. But Mark taught me how to create diagrams quickly and efficiently that helped me to work through tough problems. I was amazed at how much I improved at something I never thought I would be "good" at. Mark explained how to work through several steps to reach the correct answer, and he also explained why the wrong answers were, well, wrong. To me, that part was very helpful because sometimes the difference between the right and wrong answer can be nearly indistinguishable to the untrained eye. However, once Mark explains key differences, it becomes clear why the correct answer is the obvious choice. Ultimately, I can't recommend Mark's class highly enough to anyone looking for an LSAT prep course. Take SIU, work hard, go to the after class happy hours, kill your LSAT score, then thank Mark in 3-4 years when you're a lawyer. That was my plan... so far it's worked! read more

Mark Sacks is an amazing instructor. I already took a prep course with one of the big test prep companies before but the instruction I received then could not even compare to Mark's teaching. Mark does not use gimmicks in presenting the LSAT, he actually presents the material to you the way LSAC (the makers of the LSAT) would present the test. Mark uses LSAC's books. What better way to learn about the test than from the test makers themselves? Also, Mark's emphasis on taking many full-length practice tests will really improve your score, provided you don't go overboard and burn yourself out before the actual test date. And as Mark graduated from Harvard Law (a school that many aspiring law students would love to get accepted into), I believe he knows what it takes to score well on the LSAT. Mark also devotes one class meeting to talking about being a lawyer and going over the writing sample portion of the exam. He tells you what it really means being a lawyer for a big firm, a small firm, or a prosecutor (he has experience with each one). If you're not really sure if law school is for you, then that session will be invaluable. With each class meeting Mark always finds the time to insert a story or two to give students a small reprieve from LSAT prep, because let's face it, no matter how good of an instructor Mark is, the very nature of the LSAT can be dull, and sometimes downright mind-numbing. So, if you're looking for a fun experience on top of quality instruction all for a very reasonable price (lower than big name test prep companies with more hours), definitely go with ScoreItUp. read more

I would highly recommend Mark's ScoreitUp course for any student looking to prepare for the LSAT. He is able to keep you interested when quite frankly you are review boring dense material. I took the Spring 2014 Course in prep for the June 2014 LSAT, I had a 16 point increase from day one to game day!!!
