Adding to this thread just to share my positive experiences with Mark so far. I started with a self-study program but kept repeating the same mistakes because no one was checking my reasoning or showing me where I was going wrong. I'd been on the fence about going to law school and was connected with Mark and Score it Up. He made the time to connect with me and talk me through my fears and questions about this journey. I initially studied for the May 2020 LSAT using Mike Kim's LSAT Trainer as well as the most recent 10 Actuals. I got a 165 on it, but still was having a lot of trouble with logic games -- specifically, I was having really bad timing issues and often ended up skipping a whole game during the section, even after drilling it on my own. My fraternity, Kappa Alpha Pi, connected me with Mark and I took one of his summer courses as well as private tutoring for the logic games. Because I was doing pretty well in the other sections, the course served as more of a review/polishing for me, but was still really helpful! It was easy for me to keep track of the work schedule he laid out (with room for adjustment) and the workshop style is better for my learning than just straight lecturing. As for the logic games, they improved so much under Mark's tutelage! I went from missing five or six questions (a whole game) to missing one or two, if any. My practice tests were all in the 170s, so I felt pretty good about it, but the August 2021 LSAT I took was still a 165. It was disappointing, but I knew that I could do better. School got in the way and after graduation I studied again for the September 2022 LSAT on my own, but using strategies I had learned from Mark. It paid off and I got a 177!!! Mark stands out from other LSAT prep courses because he is very personable. Sometimes prep companies for standardized tests like the LSAT, SAT, MCAT, etc. will hire people who got good scores on the exam, but that's different from being able to coach it. In addition, he cares a lot about his students and kept in touch and kept encouraging me in the year between my course with him and my LSAT retake. His classes are not just about the LSAT, but he also gives nuggets about the application process and shares his connections so we learn more about what working in the legal field is actually like. I'm a splitter on GPA (3.5), but I'm applying to law schools right now and feeling pretty good about it because of the LSAT score that Mark helped me get to :) read more

I have been enrolled in ScoreItUp for about five months now and I can say with confidence that it is one of, if not the, best LSAT prep courses out there. I initially started my LSAT prep through the various books that everyone recommends, but I quickly realized that it was not for me. My biggest complaint about trying to study from the books alone is that they tended to overcomplicate things in a way that was not necessary, and naturally that demotivated me. As a result, it was hard for me to stay on track as the months went by. This is when I began looking for an in-person/live online LSAT prep course. This is when a fellow UCLA graduate like myself recommended that I give SIU a shot since it helped them out tremendously. Needles to say, I'm extremely grateful that I did in fact sign up for this course. I could write a whole novel on all the great things about this course, but I will keep it brief and mention some notable highlights: 1) Each and every class is taught by professor Sacks himself. One of the biggest complaints I hear from friends and fellow students about other LSAT prep courses is that the instructors teaching those classes vary from class to class or that they're not qualified to teach LSAT prep to begin with. These "instructors" may have done well on the LSAT, but doing well on the LSAT doesn't translate to being a good professor. These instructors also teach other things that are not related to the LSAT at all, which further undermines their LSAT instructing credibility. This is not the case when it comes to SIU. Professor Sacks is an expert at what he does and it really shows that he has dedicated his life to teaching LSAT prep. It's sort of like if you were seeking to hire a therapist; would you hire a therapist who has dabbled in many areas of psychology and claims to be an "expert" in every one of those areas or one who has spent the majority of their life dedicating themselves to the one area you need help with? The same applies to LSAT prep. Side note: The live classes are also recorded and stored on the SIU website for quite some time in case you missed something during the live class and wanted to go back and re-watch something. 2) Professor Sacks doesn't overcomplicate things. As previously mentioned, I felt like the books were overcomplicating some aspects of LSAT prep that really didn't need to be overcomplicated. Professor Sacks really knows how to break things down and simplify them in a matter in which it's easy to understand and easy to apply on the actual LSAT. After all, practicality is a must when it comes to learning techniques that you will need to apply on a timed exam. 3) Aside from the live online classes, there are supplemental videos and/or explanations available to further enhance your LSAT prep experience. This material is great for someone like me who likes to further grasp/understand what was being explained in class. There are countless hours of video explanations of concepts and real LSAT problems that you can have access to at any time you'd like. 4) This course is intended for both people who have no LSAT prep experience and for those who do have LSAT prep experience. Professor Sacks really balances out the level of the class to where those who don't have LSAT prep experience and those who do have LSAT prep experience both benefit from being enrolled in the class. Even though I have been enrolled in SIU for quite some time now, each class I learn something new. In short, you don't need to worry about what stage of LSAT prep you are at. This course will benefit you no matter what. 5) Each class is a great experience and there hasn't been a single time where I felt disengaged. I firmly believe that you will not get this level of expertise/enthusiasm with any other professor/prep course out there. The tone of each class is light-hearted and fun, all-while diving deep into LSAT fundamentals. There hasn't been a single moment during one of the live classes where I felt disengaged and/or bored by the material. None of his classes have ever felt tedious either. Professor Sacks really cares about his students' success and it's extremely apparent once you've been in one of his classes. While the end result is important, I also believe that the journey to get there is just as important, and with SIU you can be guaranteed that the journey will be a blast. If you would have told me before I enrolled in SIU that I would eventually find LSAT prep to be fun and entertaining, I would have thought you were nuts. However, this is in fact the case now. If there's anything that you should take away from what I wrote, it's that enrolling in SIU is one of the best investments you could ever make for your future. Not only will you vastly increase your understanding and knowledge of the LSAT, but you will have a great time doing so. I began my enrollment in Score It Up the summer before my junior year in college. I took the course casually over the summer, scoring a 151 on my first practice examination. Mark Sacks is the real deal! I took Mark's triple course and he took me from a 145 to averaging in the mid to high 160s on my practice tests. Thanks to Mark, I was accepted to LSU for the fall on scholarship. My advice to prospective students would be to do the homework Mark gives you and take as many practice tests as you can. In addition to his group classes, I worked with Mark one-on-one to figure out where my weaknesses were on the LSAT and what specific types of questions I needed to focus on. One of the things I liked most about Mark's classes was when he would bring in guest speakers or would share stories from his experience working in both a private law firm and the Orange County D.A.'s Office. These personal anecdotes I thought gave my fellow students and me meaningful insight into the legal world. Before I signed up for Mark's classes, I looked at large LSAT prep companies and discovered that a lot of their tutors weren't even law students and were just people who had taken the LSAT maybe once and done well on it. Consequently, they weren't able to provide the level of insight into not only the LSAT, but also Law School, and the legal profession that Mark can provide. Additionally, other LSAT Prep programs I found were very convoluted in their test taking strategies and explanations. With ScoreItUp, Mark has cut the fat out of LSAT Prep and distilled everything you need to know into digestible lessons. This review has been a long time coming, procrastination got the best of me. Having always been able to do well in school without studying very much, I thought I could do the same with the LSAT. full disclosure: I studied for the LSAT for a solid 5-6 months. It is undoubtedly a difficult exam that pushes you to your limits. That being said, with a proper study regimen & guidance along the way, you will be able to conquer it. ScoreItUp went beyond my expectations. I took Mark's class after attempting to study on my own. While some people can certainly do well through self-study, other people do much better when presented with the material in a classroom setting. I happen to be the latter. Mark's class gave me what I needed to improve my LSAT score by eight points. Although his classes are several hours long, they never felt like a drag. His pace is appropriate and challenging enough to where you can see your improvement over time. I also believe that more people should take advantage of the proctored exams on the weekends. I believe that most of my gains came from these exams as you are able to apply what you learned in class in a room which replicates true testing conditions. I attended each exam and was surprised at the low turnout each weekend. If you take this class, taking the exams on the weekend is the best thing that you can do for yourself. Finally, I met a person in this class who drove all the way from Redlands to Costa Mesa twice a week just to attend Mark's class. Back in January I came across this LSAT class while browsing r/LSAT. Someone had strongly recommended the in-person class to people if they were living in the OC area. Luckily I found myself within driving distance and this class was everything I was looking for. One thing about this company that stood out to me over other large companies is that it is taught by an actual law professional rather than a young pre-law student who scored well on the LSAT. Our lecturer Mark Sacks is a Harvard Law graduate, a professor at UC Irvine and a prosecutor in Orange County. Not only did Mark have a solid understanding of the psychometrician mentality and how they create test questions, but his court trial stories and the questions he is always willing to answer regarding law as a profession really helped me decide if I wanted to continue pursuing law. However, having signed up for the Early Spring "triple-course," two weeks into the course we were all rocked by the Covid-19 pandemic. When California started shutting businesses down, Mark introduced his "Live-Online" option. I was hesitant to continue with this option because at the time the state of things were so uncertain and I did not know if online lectures would be helpful. I decided to continue with the Live Online format; not only did this online lecture exceed my expectations, but it was even better than having to drive in Southern California traffic to get to class; you can take now take the class in your boxers and get snacks from your own fridge from anywhere in the world. I can't imagine having taken the LSAT without SIU. The difference between where I was going into the course and how I left is astounding. ScoreItUp has definitely been a crucial course for me during my LSAT journey. I have taken a course from one of the "big" name LSAT prep distributors (you know which ones) and the experience was impersonal and hurried in my opinion. With ScoreItUp I felt Mark really wanted to be sure we knew the methods and could successfully apply them. Mark was/is always willing to help in any way he can. Going over and beyond has made the classroom atmosphere inviting. Open dialogue, brainstorming, and cookies (lol) are always present at our course meetings. As for the online portion of the class; Mark provides concise explanations of nearly all of the LSAT prep tests provided. The lesson notes are very in-depth. I am amazed at how much I've improved in my worst section; reading comprehension. For that, I got to give Mark five stars. Although it is because I have already studied for the LSAT for a year and know the basics around the exam, ScoreItUp, is a great resource to use for those who have not yet started studying yet. I highly recommend Mark's SoreItUp prep course. I took another prep course prior to taking SIU, and I found SIU much more effective in preparing me for the test. As an international student, my main weakness was timing, and in Mark's course starting from the very first class I got to practice real test questions under real time pressure, and that turned out to be the most helpful for me when I took the test. Studying for the LSAT is difficult, especially if you're like me and you're a traditionally "bad test taker." I did terrible on my SAT, so I was naturally worried about my much anticipated September 2016 LSAT. After trying my hand at self study for months, I finally sought out a test prep class to make sure I would do my best. It paid off, cause on the real LSAT I scored higher than I ever had on a practice test. Mark's class was engaging, inviting, and interesting. He made studying for the LSAT that much more bearable. When he could tell we were losing focus, he entertained (and motivated) us with stories about the profession. He also organized happy hours and mixers to get us together, which is definitely something you can't get from a standard LSAT prep class. Aside from all that fun stuff, I learned a LOT in Mark's class. From my diagnostic test to my LSAC score I went up 20 points. 20 is a lot. 20 points helped me get full rides to a lot of schools, and an almost full ride to my dream school. Mark is really personable and willing to go above and beyond for his students. He really cares and is interested in your future. If you're serious about doing well on the LSAT, and are doubting your self-motivation to do 3+ practice tests a week + studying (as you should be, that's crazy) take Mark's class. You'll be surrounded by other motivated people, and led by an awesome teacher. For me, there was no better way to keep me honest and on top of my game. After reading all of the glowing reviews about Score It Up, I was very excited to start this LSAT prep course. At the same time, I was a little worried of a, let down, like seeing a movie that had great reviews, but fell short of expectations. I just completed a triple course with Mark and I am here to tell you that Mark absolutely did NOT DISAPPOINT. In fact, I actually found the S.I.U. course even better than expected! First of all, Mark explained LSAT concepts clearly and vividly. Second, the course is incredibly thorough and comprehensive. Especially if you take the triple course as I did! We spent A LOT of time analyzing LSAT questions in depth in all sections of the exam. Mark would explain the underlying logic concepts and then set us loose to work on a set of LSAT questions in class. After that, he would then show us how the things that he had just explained played out in actual LSAT questions. I found that to be an excellent and very helpful methodology. Lastly, Mark always had a precise and insightful answer to any questions asked. I actually learned a lot from his answers to OTHER student's questions. However, the thing I liked best about this course was Mark's teaching style. He seems to intuitively know how to explain things in ways that students whom are not great test takers can easily comprehend (I have never been a good test taker/time issues) That was the thing that I was most amazed and impressed with.
