My son has been going to Eye Level classes for a few months now. We enrolled him in English classes to provide him with extra help in this area. They have sessions once a week for an hour. The teachers assign them pages to complete in class and the rest of the booklet as homework. What I appreciate the most is the small class size. I've noticed that my son performs better in smaller classes since it allows him to concentrate and ask questions easily. My 11yo son has been attending this Eye Level location for 6mo for both Math and English. He is not behind but works at or above grade level. We initially came in for an evaluation and learned more about the program. I loved how the daily structure was set, as well as the lesson plans. Compared to other math centers, kids here get more 1-1 time, even tho the lessons are in small groups. We like the booklets too. Makes doing work on-the-go easy. He has improved his accuracy as well as speed. Regarding English, he has also improved on endurance and some new topics. He enjoys earning rewards and prizes, too. Both my kids did not have to worry about any math or english exams since they joined Eye Level in Irvine. My older one has been with the center for many years now and he is still given both "review" and more challenging works. No, he doesn't complain. In fact, he enjoys knowing that he is "levelling up." Eye Level has designed a program that enables the kids to move at their own pace and with a good balance of reviewing what they already know and of introducing new concepts. As a parent, one of the things I like in their currriculum is the breakdown of basic math (the computations) and critical math (where kids learn how to use patterns, abstracts, etc). With English, they do a good balance of vocabulary, grammar, and writing. My kids are not very good with reading comprehension, yet, through Eye Level, they are able to understand the concept and be at par with their grade level standards (if not higher). I would give this credit to both the tutors and the administration for instilling behaviors like how to study and how to be organized; not just guiding them through the lessons. Perhaps the small number of kids per tutor proved to be very effective - max of 4 per tutor and for an hour. In the many years that we have been with the center, we found that the tutors are just as invested in our kids' learning as we are. They really make it a point for the kids to grasp the concept instead of just giving homework and making them do so repeatedly. On the other hand, both Ms. Lucy and Ms. Fonnie are great partners to us parents. They are able to provide constructive feedback about the pace of learning of each child. They would tell us if the kids are running behind (versus their peers in Eye Level but not in regular school) or if they are advanced enough to join their annual international math competition (no competition for English). Either way, they would adjust the curriculum of the kid to fit their capabilities and needs. This is one of the few places where I would entrust my kids' learning. read more

He loved the way they structured the class so that he would have enough time doing everything, and he got along quite well. My daughter is attending Eye level since Oct 2016 for English. Lusiana, was very helpful on explaining course details and she is very accommodative on the schedule/slot. Always smiling face with kids and parents, patience on all questions and very detailed on explanation. We have been sending my son to Eye Level for 4-5 months now and he actually enjoys going! We used to send him to a different place but they focused more on repetitions whereas Eye Level is more mirrored with how they learn in school (common core). My two kids have been going to Eye Level for the past two years. We love everything about this center, from the director Lucy, to all the wonderful teachers. Lucy is really on top of every student there and knows everyone's progress. There is a max of about 3 students per teacher. The well qualified teachers are actively engaged with each student during the hour. Their workbooks are more colorful and fun compared to Kumon (which we were doing before switching over). There is a critical thinking element to their math program which teaches kids to think outside the box as opposed to just crunching and memorizing numbers. My Son is 5 year old and he is attending Eye level from last one year for both English and Maths. This is a one hour class and teacher to student ration is one to three. Whole staff is friendly. Teacher will share kids review after each class room. They provide homework as well. For English hand writing improvement they do provide worksheets. I am much overdue on this review, I really can't say enough great things about eye level. My daughter attends a magnet school and is in the gate program there. She has been enrolled in the math program for some time now and it is the best decision my wife and I have ever made. She is in the advanced math group and doing very well from the feedback i received from her teacher. I really like the fact that her instructors are very nice and the student to instructor ratio is 2 or 3 to 1. Everyone has their opinions about the common core curriculum, which honestly I am not entirely a fan of, eye level math program builds the basic fundamental math concepts that had been taught for many years so the children can learn to solve problems quickly and efficiently. Having said this, my daughter appears to have a better understanding of the common core math concept once she has mastered the basic fundamentals of addition, subtractions, multiplications, and division through eye level. Some may think, "I can save the money and do this myself." and trust me i tried but most parents have been taught the old and proven method and when you try to teach them our way and the children are arguing that that is NOT how they were taught in the classroom and questions your every step, it only confuses the poor child, frustrates both the child and parent and not to mention raise the parents blood pressure. Especially, when you have 3 children like I do it is very difficult to focus on one child's homework. Our Daughter is comfortably ahead of her class in the Math subject and we wanted to try her on the English curriculum to enhance her reading comprehension skills. She will be starting this shortly and I will update. One more thing, Luciana and her partner who runs the program here in Irvine are wonderful. Eye Level or used to be called Enopi, is better than Kumon. Our boys are doing very well in both Math and English. Our IUSD system is good but GATE program and AAPAS doesn't start until 4th Grade. Eye Level has helped prepare our kids to be comfortable with their learning experience at home and at school. Great Materials on homework and lessons. Excellent teachers with great one on one time. My daughter is a 5th grader and has been getting English help at EL for almost a year. She was a reluctant reader and I was becoming concerned about her reading comprehension skills. But at EL, she is learning a lot and showing noticeable improvement. The materials used at EL are comprehensive and engaging, covering every English topic (e.g., reading, spelling, grammar, vocabulary...etc) so I am assured that no skills fall through the cracks. There is a curriculum chart where I can see the specific skill that she is practicing in every workbook at any time, so I am always aware of what she is learning. The reading passages can be challenging which is good for improving her critical thinking skills. My daughter is enjoying the classes, thanks to the low student-to-teacher ratio. The owners are friendly, keeps me informed of her progress and are responsive to feedback. For example, I mentioned to them a particular area that my daughter is struggling with; this resulted in the teacher supplementing extra work that gave her extra practice. All in all, this is a very well-run place with high quality materials that are clearly making a difference in my daughter's education. I'm so happy that I've found EL. Love this place! I have put my kids in several different tutoring places before. By far this is the best one. The center is very spacious and brightly decorated with cheerful colors, yet not too many decorations that it's distracting to the kids. They have 4 rooms which means your kids won't be crammed in with too many other kids. The owners are very accomodating & personable. They give you updates and follow-ups on your kid's progress. The tutoring materials they use are from their corporate office. I give them 2 thumbs up for their materials, very challenging! They also have an incentive program for the kids. Kids can earn play money which can be used to purchase items at the center. With all that, their tutoring fees are surprisingly competitive!!!! read more

My 4 year old starting going to Irvine Eye-level about 2 months ago. She joined the center a month before her 4th birthday. Considering she is so young I was in 2 minds about enrolling her in this program. After meeting and consulting with Ms. Lousiana I decided to enroll her. I am very happy we made that decision. She really enjoys her math class and looks forward to it every week. I believe this would help not only in developing penchant for the subject but also provide strong foundation for maths. I like the individualized attention my daughter gets otherwise it is very easy for a four year old to get distracted. The owner of the place is very nice. Two thumbs up to Ms. Lucy. She is always very accommodating with schedule and make-up classes. She keeps a close eye on student's progress and has a very friendly demeanor. My daughter loves her as much she loves her math lesson :) I kept the fifth star with me not because anything is wrong with this center but because my daughter is so young and is learning basics.
