Absolutely perfect. Huge menu with just about every style you could think of - check. Fantastic beer - check. Spacious, clean, updated facility - check. Friendly and helpful service - check. We drove all the way out from the city to check this place out because the ads sounded so good... and that impression was spot on. Our first drink was a smoked lager that smelled amazing and tasted just as good, like a ridiculously expensive charcuterie board full of smoked meats. We had a "robust porter" that was layered and full of earthy, malty flavor with hints of mahogany. Then, a golden ale with cranberries fermented in Koval gin barrels that perfectly carried the herbaceousness of the gin barrels, which gave you a slight tart, fruity, herby drink that reminded me of cranberry stuffing. Finally, we had a maple vanilla imperial stout that was just smooth as the day is long and bursting with lovingly balanced flavor. Every drink we tried was fantastic and I loved the variety. I could've spent all day there. read more

Local brewery that is a bit hidden in Algonquin. Stopped here after hearing about from friends and seeing their selection at local bars, so we decided to stopped. This place does not serve food, but you can have food delivered (BYOF) and they sometimes have food trucks as well. The night we stopped, they had a taco truck, which was good. The place is decent sized, clean, and you can view the equipment. The place was packed when we stopped so seating was a struggle for us that night. Beer is okay and the price is typical for craft beer. May not be my go-to spot, but def worth a visit. read more

Although I enjoy drinking Scorched Earth beer at the McHenry VFW, I was eagerly anticipating my first visit back to the brewery since Covid to try a flight with a couple of different flavors. They have more seating now, but the main brewing and serving area appears the same. But now they require you to open a tab with a credit card: they do not accept cash at all. I left very disappointed and went to the liquor store to buy beer. I'm thinking now I should have asked other customers if I could get on their tab and pay them cash but I didn't think of it at the time. read more

We were here on a beautiful day and the outdoor patio was packed. Inside there were over 20 choices, a lot of IPAs, and sours, but a little something read more

It's a nice place to host an event. The employees were nice. They have many choices of drinks.

Hands-down one of my favorite local breweries! Great beer selection on tap with standard favorites and new stuff rotated in. The bartenders and are super friendly and always willing to talk beer and make recommendations. Giant Killer is my favorite go-to beer that I also drink on the regular at home. The weekends tend to bring food trucks with tasty fare, live music, and fun and friendly crowds. Sadly there is no food service, but they have a ton of menus that you can order delivery. My absolute favorite part about SEB is the outdoor patio in the summer- it's dog friendly! The staff will even bring your pup(s) out some water. Do yourself a favor and check out this hidden Algonquin gem. read more

Yum yum yum. Great micro brew selections and friendly staff. Best part of the place is the shuffle board. We went late November and stepped out in the beer garden for a drink. It was chilly so we didn't stay out long, but I definitely want to go back to enjoy the space in the warmer spring! I hear the candles are nice. I have yet to test. read more

Scorched Earth Brewing - Rugged Coalminer, Robust Porter/ keeping me toasty on a chilly day - Breweries Near Me - Algonquin, Illinois

Great place in Algonquin to have a fresh offering of tasty brews. Samples on tap, pints, crowlers, growlers and six packs . Laid back place and they frequently have food trucks in the lot. Fairly decent crowd the few times I've been there. Stop and have a pop and bring a growler home on Fridays. read more

I love the selection of beers on tap. There is always something that I end up really loving, and I cannot say that about every local brewery around here. I also enjoy the nice outdoor seating and the selection of games to play! read more

Showed up at 615 sunday night and the first thing the girl Meg said was " its last call so hurry up and order, we close at 7" I went there to try the sour beers cause they are difficult to find. It was probably some of the worst beer I have ever tired. Taste like someone poured crappy wine into bud light. Must say I was very disappointed. If your a micro brew you should prob be happy when people come in to spend money at your brewery read more

Beer is good. They could use more variety. WAY over priced which is the biggest issue. Also I hate how when you get your tab there's the "suggested tip" which is way higher than what a normal tip would be to a bartender just pouring a beer. It's really annoying. Why would I tip you $6 when you poured me 2 beers? read more

A hidden brewery in Algonquin. I would of liked to have been there when the outside sitting area was set up. This location is a very compact area. They did have a live band while I was there. Not much of a seating area, however good vibe to the location. Had a great variety of different craft beers, they encourage ordering food from local business, which I thought was very cool of them. read more

This place does not accept cash as payment. Cash is legal tender good for all public and private debt. I wont be coming back ever.

A real hidden gem. Great place, really love the atmosphere and... man.. the Hickster is the best! During weekends they have food trucks!!! read more

My husband and I decided to try this on a no kids Friday. He had been looking for a new micro brew in the area and wanted to try this one. When we put the address in the GPS and got close we thought Google was getting it wrong again but nope! It really is in an industrial looking building with next to no signage. The only reason we kept driving in was because we saw the good truck that was advertised on their website. I was really skeptical but after to go in for at least one beer got my husband. I was pleasantly surprised, the inside was very nicely finished, clean and modern. It is really open so you can't see where they be the best, very cool. The bar had plenty of seating with a few long picnic tables for groups. I am not a beer fan so we ordered a flight so I could try several of them. Our bartender was great and asked questions about what I did like then made suggestions. I was not a fan of any of the beers so then he brought me their summer strawberry rhubarb beer and I loved it! My husband on the other hand liked a couple of their beers. I was disappointed that they did not have a food menu or even crackers or pretzels to munch on. There was a food truck, great idea for a place with no kitchen, but even without a kitchen you can serve pretzels or something. This really was my only complaint, I loved the atmosphere and the service was excellent. read more

Quaint, vibrant production brewery, crafting refined, intelligent brews. Attractive young "Beer Heroes" sling pints, dimpled mugs and "munique's" of liquid love Thursday though Sunday. There's no kitchen so BYOF it or order up, the heroes will provide menus of local fair and provide the occasional food truck. The beer shines at SC. Magnificent renditions of Saison, Oktoberfest & a traditional Berliner Weiss decorate the beer menu. Pours are performed flawlessly with careful attention paid to properly filling your chalice of liquid love. The brew house is prevalent, shiny stainless steel tanks are visible and impressive. A true local gem, warm & inviting (atmosphere not the temp). I cannot wait to try more of their barrel aged beers... And sours! The staff are friendly and knowledgable and the owner is friendly and sociable. Prost! read more

Scorched Earth Brewing - A brilliant white bloom. Sliced candied lemons, Mother Earth's honey. Expertly poured and presented. Santé. - Breweries Near Me - Algonquin, Illinois

Odd location. Close to a scary dark forest area you don't want to be caught drunk around. The place is nice and cozy. They only have their own beers, no food. Fast service, offer samplings, good beer. I think it's cool and I like that it's not complicated: a microbrewery that serves their beer. Also their receipt does the tip math for you by checking a box. Great add to the 'hood. Go here. read more

This place really was one of the best breweries I've experienced yet, in the suburbs. I'd say it's up there in the tier with some of the better ones I've been to in burbia, such as Church Street in Itasca. This was easily the longest distance I've traveled off of a Metra stop to get to a brewery(round trip from Pingree Rd. Metra stop to here and back is something like 8 miles, and 4 miles each way! slightly longer than the distance it took to get to Tighthead from Libertyville's Metra stop, via using a bike trail), but I didn't let that stop me from finally visiting here, and budgeted MORE extra time to travel here. And which prevented an earlier visit in 2015. Anyway... This place only serves beer, and doesn't have a kitchen. I didn't notice even light snacks like chips for sale(maybe I missed that behind the counter? dunno), so you'll have to bring food beforehand or order from a binder of menus of local places that'll deliver to here. Started off with sampling 2 sour gose beers(Pit Master and Sweetie Pie), and they were both decent. Then I tried a witbier beer(Fielders Wit), that wasn't a bad effort, despite it being my least fav out of 7(including a flight of 4 beers) I went on to try. I'm glad there wasn't a dud beer whatsoever, out of all the 7 I did try here. Unlike at some breweries(*cough* 350), where so many felt like duds. Did a 4 beer flight, and I liked all my beers. Started with Berry Fool, which was a raspberry saison which turned out better than I thought it'd be, and actually isn't bad. Then tried Hickster, which was a good cream ale, and I believe is a year round beer here. Rugged Coalminer was my fav beer of those 4(a porter beer), but I forget if this is year round or seasonal. Last one I got was Crypt Keeper, which is a seasonal pumpkin beer that also was decent. Though it may not be right off a Metra stop and may possibly be the furthest away brewery that isn't by a Metra stop(Only Child in Gurnee at least is a short walk south of a Pace bus route, in comparison), this brewpub is definitely worth the extra effort to visit in the suburbs. Even if you have to use a bike trail to get to it, I enjoyed this place. I know for sure I'll try to do at least 1-2 more visits here, next year! read more

I think its pretty neat how this place is in an office looking building.. comfortable when walking in it is a little small. I had a flight and the beers were definitely different then ones offered at other breweries I have been to. I think this one will grow me. The bartender was friendly! Not expensive. I will come back here! read more

I usually stop in for trivia on Thursdays. That crowd is unique, so I will not comment on my experience on those nights because it gets crowded for the purpose of trivia. The beers themselves are high quality. My absolute favorite is the Hickster, and I am a fan of several other beers. It seems the brewery is trying many bold brewing methods, which I commend them on. One of the aspects that I do not quite understand is the shuffleboard table. It takes up a lot of space that could be used as additional inside seating. I hardly ever see anyone playing, and then there will be several people crowding the walkways that could have been seated. I'm not sure if this is just from what I've experienced, and it could be a popular attraction on other days, but I just don't get it. The addition of the outdoor patio is absolutely gorgeous and a cozy atmosphere. Kudos to the owners for such a great design. read more

Best local brewery around! This is the best thing that has happened to Algonquin. There is a reason these guys are winning awards for their beer. They are always willing to brew something new and adventurous. I appreciate they always have their standard beers but always something new to try. Scorched Earth is a hidden gem that you should definitely check out if you're a craft beer drinker. As a sour lover, they knock it out of the park with their sours. They recently had a Barrel #33 that was OUTSTANDING. The staff is super friendly, hard working and willing to answer any questions you have. They frequently have live music which is always great. Always looking forward to what they will brew next! Keep up the great work guys, you're doing it right. Cheers! read more

Scorched Earth Brewing - Extraordinary! - Breweries Near Me - Algonquin, Illinois

Addorable, family owned business. There is the woman's hand in the taste of the beer: they tend to be light and fruity. May not suit everyone. but sure is unusual for a micro-brewery. You can see the actual brewery from where you sit- and it's pretty new and all high tech. quite cool. You bring/order your own food:) Begs for more sitting room, seriously. Especially, that this place is quickly becoming quite popular. read more

I hope they had an off night or their lines were just bad but out of the 10 beers I tried there was only one worth taking home: rugged coal miner. The taps seemed over carbonated and flavors seemed even different from their bottled beer. The brewery/ taproom is a gem and it was very well decorated and felt like a rustic living room. With that being said there is simply not enough seating. Two larger bench tables, 20 seats at the bar, 4 small two seater tables and an area for four people in the corner. There really isn't even a good place for standing room only. We brought in our own food and the locals and bartenders were very nice and even shared around some munchies. I spent $60 with tip on a 6pack ($9.99), Howler ($3) then the fill ($7.50), a flight of all 10 with up charges ($18) and two pints ($5 each). Prices are pretty in line with others but the beer was again just off or something. I might go back again but won't be going out of my way. read more

This place is badass! I love their unique and original beers, especially a favorite of the Base Jumper. Very casual environment that usually gets packed on Fridays, which is a good thing! Haven't tried the food but my coworker's and I love the fact we can kick back some beers and play some board games like Jenga. All provided! You'd be a sucker to not take advantage of the great shuffleboard table, just ask the bartender! I also love how they partner up with food trucks and have them stationed right outside in their lot. Too smart a business move for this one as it provides their customers with even more variety and makes the whole place smell great! Love coming here and I'll come back as often as I can. read more

Cool location. Nice shuffleboard table. Beers are good but not great. Really good overall!

Did the brewery tour (first Saturday of every month) and hung out for a while afterwards this weekend. The tour itself is sort of meh - if you've been on very many of these, or have a background in home brewing, you're not going to find out a lot you don't know. The tap room out front is very nice, and the beer is excellent. Very friendly, neighborhood vibe. Dogs are welcome on the patio, but make sure to keep them off the table! (They have to tell people this?) Could very easily see this becoming a place where we could become quite comfortable. They don't have a kitchen, but local joints will deliver there, and I believe they keep a binder of menus behind the bar for that. As the beers go, the Rugged Coalminer and St. Monty are already favorites. I found the Exiled Angel to be an excellent Belgian golden ale. Sweetie Pie is a strawberry rhubarb gose (yes, like the pie) that, while interesting, just seems.....odd? They've begun making some sour beers, as well, barrel aged, and we'll likely be back to check those out! read more

If possible -Zero Stars Worst service I have EVER encountered. Standing at bar for over ten minutes-and it was not crowded- never got served! Three groups of people who walked up after me got served. Three groups already sitting at bar got served. Barhelp-and I use that term loosely- went by me at least a dozen times totally ignoring me. Sitting outside for a few minutes before going inside, barhelp cleaned dirty glasses et al from the picnic table and never returned. Nor suggest we could see the barely legible beer list chalked inside. I guess they do not have an actual beer list, or at least we were not offered one. the people at next table ordered pizza delivery. If you are going to do that better bring your own plates, napkins silverware etc. read more

I like this place on a Thurs or Friday night but they really need to consider expanding the seating as a ton of wasted space in the back of the warehouse layout and usually "standing room only" as it's always SRO by 6-7 pm time frame. I don't mind it, but would be a better experience if not rubbing elbows and a-holes with everyone trying to drink a pint or flights of brew. Hidden gem but more craft beer suburbanites who don't know jack shit about what makes good & great beers showing up that think it's the next 3 F's or Bells Brewing. The outdoor patio upfront is still not finished as I was there last week on a 75 F day, but should be decent IF completed before summer. Hope they serve beer in outdoor area. The Test Pilot IPA and Base Jumper were quaffable. read more

We love going to Scorched Earth after work on Friday's. They usually have a food truck come making dinner any easy option at the end of the week. I don't know if I've just been to too many breweries at this point so they are all blurring into the same memory or if the new breweries I'm visiting are so similar these days that I just can't tell them apart. Either way, Scorched Earth was good but nothing new. You know, same old industrial and woodsy/reclaimed atmosphere, cute little patio, decent service that prefers the regulars, good beers (but nothing AMAZING), and overall a cool place to hang out if you live in the area. If you don't, try to find the beers out and about because I didn't see much that was brewery tapped only or super special. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on this place...it WAS good, but driving 45 minutes to an hour to get there makes it a place I'll likely only visit once. read more
