Wonderful spot right on the Saugus River. The restaurant interior is small, so I would highly recommend a reservation. There was a small parking lot, but on a busy night parking may be tough. The food and drinks were very good. We especially enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer and the friend calamari appetizer. Service was great. We were seated immediately at our reserved table. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and helped us to celebrate my sister's birthday by having the chef decorate her dessert plate special. But after hearing amazing things about Scopa, we decided to give it a try. And WOW! This hidden gem exceeded all expectations! We arrived for a 6pm reservation for my girlfriend's birthday on a Saturday night. One of the owners (Tyler ) was very friendly and accommodating. Offered us a complimentary glass of wine while we waited for our table , which I thought was very classy . We entered the small and buzzing dining room . And we were caught up in the moment taking it all in . As we settled down . We ordered 2 half Caesar salads , crisp and fresh with a garlic crouton and shaved Parmesan . (10 ) the entrees were rustic and executed to perfection. As a Professional chef and fellow Italian . We could not rave enough about this place . Even during dinner ! She loved her CZB Alfredo and the same for my veal parmigiana. We cannot thank Tyler enough for being so attentive and genuine for a young man in the bustling restaurant scene. My friend and I were seated in the newly enclosed area in the back, right by the window, which was perfect since the sun was about to set. Our meal was delicious, we had eggplant rollatini for an appetizer, I had the seared scallops, which were so tender and yummy! First time visit to Scopa last week based on a friend's recommendation. Pros: Cozy atmosphere, well decorated. Smaller place, but pleasant atmosphere. Food was very good. Menu is small, but with some variety so you should find something for anyone in your party. Cons: Service was just ok. Place was pretty empty when we arrived, but quickly filled up. We noticed only after we already ate our appetizer that all the other tables were promptly given a basket of bread, and we were not. Had to request one with our dinners, since no one came over until then. Drinks were not refilled until we chased down the server, which was a challenge. No one checked in after the dinners were served (hence no awareness that we needed a drink refill. ) Overall jury is out on a return visit. read more

This was our first time at Scopa's on a Sunday night. The restaurant itself is newly renovated with a nice view of the nearby estuary. Our server, Tatiana was excellent and gave us the time to settle in. the calamari was plentiful and tasty. As a new restaurant, I think they are working out the kinks. My wife's seafood Del Mar was soupy and short of pasta; my raviolis were very good with a nice marinara sauce. The cocktail and wine menu seemed limited but the choices were fine. I Ordered the scopa haddock with no capers. The dish comes out with capers. I tried the food and it was very salty. I told the waitress and she took it back to the kitchen and they brought the dish out minutes later. They took the capers off of the food and gave me the same food as you could see from where I took the bite. It was not good. Not impress. Went to Scopa last night with a few friends. Heard some great things about this new restaurant in town. It lived up to the hype. Our table was outside on the deck great spot overlooking the river as the sun was setting. Juan was our server he was fantastic,there were 10 of us and he did a great job of getting us everything we wanted We ordered several appetizers including the Fried calamari and Prosciutto Rollatini. The bread came out with a pesto dipping sauce and was fantastic. My wife had the Linguine and mussels and I tried the Seafood Risotto both were outstanding. We all had a limoncello shot after the meal and the owner stopped by to say hi and offered us a few desserts to try afterwards as well. All in all it was a very good experience. Scopa haddock was supposed to come with risotto, but instead got plain watery white rice! This was delicious! We sat at the bar and the ambiance was nice for our date night. The bartenders were very attentive. We had muscles (ask for the chefs special sauce- yum!), fried calamari which was fried perfectly and caprese which had a nice flavorful twist.
