Second leg of driving back home to Ohio, wanted a morning matcha on the way out of Rapid City. I did a search on Yelp, they popped on my screen, they have a Matcha Latte with no espresso shot, yay! The drive-thru was several cars deep, so we went inside to order. Not too bad, a solid option if no Starbucks are around. It's a bummer that the espresso counter is blocked from view - are all Scooter's like this? - so I couldn't tell if they use a matcha powder or syrup. This drink was pretty good; a bit sweeter taste, somewhat unusual, than what I prefer (compared to say Starbucks). Maybe Scooter's uses a different brand flavor of vanilla syrup, not sure. I'd gladly patronize a Scooter's when no Starbucks are around. There is a Scooter's in Lancaster, so it's not like it's the lesser of two eval, by any means. Just think Starbucks, if we're talking "fast-coffee shops" in my opinion, has a slight win over Scooter's in my mental "Matcha Flavor Profile" category. Here's what we ordered: Blueberry Muffin - A+ (moist with right blend of blueberries) Oatmeal - C (not much in there... some Fixings but just not a lot of oatmeal) Mango Smoothie B Strawberry-Banana B (Both smoothies had good flavor and thickness but a tad on articifical flavors ... not fresh) Coffee F- it's been hard finding coffee in SD that has flavor and strength and this coffe has neither flavor or strength. Important Note: I have had nothing but positive experiences at the Scooter location at Promise Rd. I have had a few recent upset stomach experiences at this Eglin location which prompted me to write a review. While I have had some positive experiences here in the past, recently I've had some negative experiences with their products. Upset Stomach Issues: For some reason I have had upset stomach issues recently here on two different occasions. I ordered my usual items which included a latte and a dessert on separate occasions and both times I had some stomach issues which caused me sleep deprivation later on those evenings. I don't know why but all I can do is speculate. Taste Inconsistencies: Sometimes my favorite latte tastes different than usual. For example, my usual latte I often order tastes like it has no flavoring in it and basically just coffee and milk. I have had this happen to me several times which is disappointing. Drive Thru Customer Service: Sometimes the customer service at the drive thru is less than stellar. I have had very few negative customer service experiences at the drive thru where you can tell by the tone of their voice that they are less than enthused. There have been some occasions where It seems like the person at the other end seems like they prefer no customers. However, when I arrive at the window the customer service seems average and okay. As a result of my experiences I have decided not to come back to this location anymore, especially due to the upset stomach issues that I experienced here which affected my sleep on those occasions. read more

The coffee is AMAZING! They have your standard flavors like vanilla, hazelnut, toffee nut, mocha, and sugar free flavors. They also have a lot of other flavors that you can mix. I ordered a honey vanilla latte and it was DELICIOUS! Tasted just like honey vanilla! You can order candy flavored and they match the flavor of the candy. We ordered a Kit Kat flavor blended coffee with espresso. It tasted exactly how it sounds. The staff are super friendly. This is much better than Black Hills Coffee in my opinion. The coffee was good but the pastries tasted worse than dollar store pastries. My blueberry muffin had a very dry consistancy, not moist. It was like eating a very dry cake. And the blueberries, I think they were blueberries, were just specks in the muffin, and had no blueberry taste. The cinnamon bun, that they heated for me, tasted like the same identical dry cake flour that the muffin had. The only good part of the bun was the heated icing. This is one busy coffee joint. We popped over to grab a coffee before heading to the badlands. The 10 car queue gave us pause- but with just a McDonald's as an alternate we decided to tough it out. The drive through is a little tight if you're driving anything other than a car, but the seating inside is great and there is plenty of parking otherwise. Scooter's brews fantastic coffee and serves up a delectable array of snack and small plate items. I look forward to the spicy sausage breakfast ciabatta (with Gouda!) in the mornings. They strive for excellent service--something sorely lacking in most businesses these days--and I'd say they hit they mark. The manager even ordered in a bottle of a flavored syrup they don't normally stock because that's how I like my lattes! Smoothies and non-caf drinks are also to be had, if that's what you're looking for. I haven't tried any of their take home roasts, but I've half a mind to! read more

Super disappointing! We may go there again, but for coffee only. Our order was to go. Coffee tasted okay, but I ordered a large cappuccino. I was asked if I wanted it wet, dry, or half & half. I ordered half & half thinking I would have a lot of foam, but still plenty of coffee. What I got was a straight up latte. Why offer cappuccino if you don't serve them? I would have ordered a small coffee with cream. I ordered oatmeal with no sweetener. The oatmeal tasted like there was sugar in it. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the egg, ham, and cheese on an English muffin. The cheese was a cheese sauce. It was all over the bag, the wrap and the sandwich. A big blob plopped off it onto my husband's clothing. The cheese didn't taste good. The ham was very thin and very stringy, and hard to chew. He couldn't bite through it. Excellent lattes, excellent drip coffee, excellent blueberry muffins. The cinnamon rolls were doughey and seemed undercooked. I didn't have one, my wife and our carpooling buddy did. They didn't compare to the ones we have had at the store in rapid city. Those are also larger buns. The extra shot of express didn't show itself either, the latte although good was still very sweet and usually you can tell when an extra shot of espresso has been added. Very dissatisfied with the Iced Latte they made us. It pretty much tastes like chocolate milk. I also got a bacon breakfast sandwich that came with one little half bacon strip. The blueberry muffin we got was very different from the one they have in the display case even though that's where they claim to get to get it from. We requested our muffin be heated up and they assured us that they all come out heated up. Our muffin came out squished and was ice cold in the middle. Ordered Americanos with an added shot. Added heavy cream and they had splenda which is our preferred sweetener. We also ordered the cranberry orange scone which was offered to us warmed up. Everything tasted great though the scone (even though we saw the barrista put it into the microwave to warm) was cold. Staff was very friendly and the coffee was excellent for our journey start.
