Awesome homemade ice cream! They have a huge list of flavors, some that are around all year and other specialty flavors. I got the grasshopper sundae, which is mint chocolate chip ice cream with oreo pieces, whipped cream, and fudge. It was delicious! They packed the bowl with ingredients so every bite was sweet and tasty. The ice cream is creamy and smooth, not frozen like most hard ice cream. Towards the bottom of the sundae, it did get a bit too sweet with chocolate fudge but was still good. Almost $7 for a sundae is a bit expensive, but the quality and the size of the double scoops is huge so it's worth it. read more

Ice cream should be served all year round anyway so the fact that they are open in the winter is deserving of 5 stars. When you walk in, there are about 6 seats so not much for sitting but in the summer, you don't need it but in the winter you can eat in the car I think. I got two scoops one of chocolate almonds and strawberry. Chocolate almond had sooo many almonds and strawberry had so many almonds. The scoops were so big. It was the perfect amount of ice cream for me. It was decently priced for what I ordered. The ice cream is out with labels so you can see all the flavors. I think there was at least 20 options to pick from. They also had yogurt too but I didn't have any. The parking is first come first serve on the street. Kay and I came here today after brunch at Johnny's Diner to soothe a whim/craving she had. A few other people strolled in as we all incongruously ate ice cream while snowflakes whipped about torrentially, sporadically on this White Sabbath. Allow me to take a moment to address axe-to-grind reviewer Tom M. 1-The parlor was far from unclean. Nor was the interior "crumbling." Norman Rockwell prints hung on the walls. The menu is neatly written onto a chalkboard across from the counter. 2-We're almost out of winter as I write this, but I can tell you that the ice cream we had was not freezer-burnt. Kay enjoyed her Grasshopper Sundae, a cup full of mint chocolate chip ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, and Oreo pieces. I got cozy with my Milky Way, which was brimful with chocolate fudge ice cream, caramel sauce, and miniature marshmallows that were...crunchy? Methinks someone accidentally put them in the freezer. No matter. It actually added an interesting textural dimension to the sundae. P.S. I'm assuming that Scoops on Beverly is affiliated with the Scoops on Brookline Boulevard, a satellite that I doubt has been in business nearly as long as this one has. As a South Hills girl, I can remember getting ice cream at this location before it was even Scoops On Beverly. The owner of Scoops runs a couple different Scoops ice cream stores throughout the city, always with the goal of serving ice cream in a "quaint neighborhood" setting. The result is that while it has a very different vibe than some of the city's other ice cream parlors, this location still has plenty to offer to the neighborhood. Clean, bright, and well maintained, this store is great if you want a sweet treat and dangerous if you're on a diet. Ice cream, ice cream cakes, bakery cakes...with the option of grabbing special sundaes, shakes, ice cream to go...honestly, the hardest decision you'll have to make is whether to enjoy a basic ice cream cone or go full-out with a more complex order. Either way, your taste buds will be happy. My recommendation? Try to save room after dinner if you happen to be dining on Beverly. It's hard to skip dessert sometimes, but it's definitely worth stopping in to Scoops if you haven't yet. After all, nothing hits the spot like ice cream! (One quick tip to those worried about parking - I believe you can still park for free on many of the residential streets! I happened to park my car right outside this business and walk in for ice cream. The owner was very friendly and gave me a wealth of information. He explained that he tries to keep his prices down by not charging tax. The price you see is the price you pay. They also don't have any sort of rewards program because of the way this place gets packed later on in the day and they are not able to handle it. They have a vast array of ice cream flavors as well as lo cal. They sell ice cream cakes and candy to boot as well as a freezer where you can "help yourself"to a premade treat, pay for it and leave. Yes you can sample ice cream here. The portion sizes of the scoops are very generous so one scoop is more than enough for me. I asked him which was the most popular and was told the mint chocolate chip. Normally I try something a little different but I went with his word and loved every bite of it. They do have a seating area where you can enjoy whatever way you want your ice cream. They make huge waffle cones and of course you can have Sundaes and the usual fare for reasonable prices. Toppings are also reasonably priced. Located in the business district on Beverly road there is metered parking only. Again,I learned that there will be two new restaurants opening up in this area in the near future which will make parking a bit of a problem. I stopped by here a couple of Fridays ago with my fiance and parents for an after dinner snack. We had just eaten across the street and decided to pass on dessert whenever we noticed Scoops. Having never been there before I did not know what to expect. I wasn't too impressed whenever I walked into the store until I realized how many different flavors of ice cream they had for a smaller place. After trying to match the names with some of the ice creams in the freezers I ultimately went with a single scoop of birthday cake ice cream in a dish. Whenever they say scoop here, they really mean scoop as there was no extra bit that I feel that you often get, not that I needed it. Overall I was impressed with the flavor of my ice cream and think that it may have been better than the normal chain that I go to. The bottom line for me is that I would definitely stop back here again in the future. The employees were friendly, the ice cream good and I was impressed with their selection. read more

Stopped by today and got a mint mouse tracks milkshake and my spouse got a two scoop waffle cone with mint choc chip and amaretto cherry. Her waffle cone was very good and the amaretto cherry flavor really stood out and was delicious. My shake on the other hand was a disappointment. At the beginning it was very runny as you could tel there was too much milk added. Then at the bottom, it was not blended at all and was just a lump of ice cream. Definitely would not recommend the shake but the I e cream flavors themselves are pretty good, so I would stick with a cone or sundae at this location. read more

Who doesn't love Scoops? This is your classic little ice cream stop located right on Beverly. It is one of a few Pittsburgh locations. Scoops is rather small inside, so if it's busy, don't count on getting a seat. I wish they had more indoor seating as well as outdoor. I enjoy going to scoops for a treat. They offer a wide selection of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet as well as have ice cream cakes. Scoops is reasonably priced aside from their ice cream cakes, which I find a bit pricy. In the summer evenings, scoops is always busy! Sometime the line is to the door, but it moves quick so don't be scared off. I would recommend scoops to anyone in the area. read more

This review is so past due it's ridiculous! I live within a mile so I walk here. The parking is always hard anyway. The exercise for the sugar doesn't hurt either! The ice cream is not only very good, but it's very affordable as well. Being that the ice cream is from Hershey and Perry's (mostly from Hershey though) the consistency is always the same with taste. This also allows for the owner to be up front and center with the customers more so then not, which is always nice. There is nothing I can say negatively. They have benches outside to sit on and tables inside. read more

Placed a delivery order for a banana split - what I received was literally a bowl of fluid - like handing me a bowl of milk that spilled all over my front step. When I called requesting either a refund or replacement they refused saying "Ice cream melts - there's nothing we can do about it." Yes there is - deliver your orders in frozen food no-melt bags dumb-asses. Not to mention I am only about 2 blocks away from this place. They would do nothing at all to correct it and I was ripped off and had to take it up with Grubhub who will most likely try to evade sending the refund. Never again. Whaaaat?! Noone's reviewd Scoops? This place is the ultimate hangout. Young and old alike. The prices are average, the flavors are plentiful, and the staff is always friendly (always a plus on my list.) It's a few blocks from my house and I remember on hot summer days grabbing my sisters, yelling upstairs to our parents "We're going to Scoops!" and walking up there. We'd taste the flavors we were trying to decide over (they give you little spoons to do this!) and then we'd pick. There's also an assortment of frozen yogurt, sorbet, milkshakes, toppings, candy, and sodas, too! After paying, we'd take our cones outside and sit on the steps chatting well into dusk. Many people come here all year round. Everyone in the neighborhood knows each other and you're bound to run into someone you know. Great place for ice cream and making memories. read more

All of the flavors!!!!! My wife spent 15 minutes deliberating on what to get when she usually just orders the mint chip. Despite the busy summer night the service was fast and efficient. The toppings are many, including hot fudge (though it wasn't that hot, or fudgy) oreos and butter scotch, fruit toppings and whipped cream. They will even make you milk shakes out of whatever flavors you want, satisfying every member of the family. The treat there that you don't really see anywhere else are the gigantic waffle cups and cones, though they were not that fresh. Even though there were a lot of ice cream flavors (including the much hyped Blue Moon) the ice cream did not seem that fresh either, hard packed and a little bland. Even if it's not explosively flavorful, with it's huge selection, neighborhood feel, and fast friendly service it's still a welcome treat on a hot summer night. read more

I can't say enough positives things about this place! It is a local favorite and we have enjoyed going here for quite some time! The ice cream flavors are always amazing and they have a great variety all the time. I also love that they allow you to use an enjoy book coupon too. We recently used a coupon for a buy one get one milkshake. I got a chocolate fudge malted shake and it was delicious!! I make my boyfriend take me here every Sunday haha, its addicting. If I had one recommendation, I would say to have more than 2 staff members working. The line is usually long and staff sometimes seem stressed because they are understaffed most nights.
