I love Scoops & Grinds in Collinsville! If I'm going to treat myself to some ice cream, which I don't do very often...I go here. Why? Because they make everything fresh on-site. There is no commercially produced ice cream full of chemicals and preservatives here...it's all FRESHLY made with good, wholesome, healthy ingredients. I have to say...their Lemon is my absolute favorite, or...is it the espresso ice cream??? It doesn't matter, I love them both...and my sons absolute hands-down favorite is their cotton candy ice cream (it's blue). What I come here most for though is my iced Mocha...YUM!!! They roast their own beans here and it really makes a difference in their coffee. They also make their own muffins, brownies, lemon bars and cheesecakes. It's a real treat to come here. When you are in town for any of our events, or just passing through, make sure to head to the West end of Main Street, just past JB's Market on the way toward the High School and get yourself a treat. You'll be so glad you did!

The owner makes the baked goods daily and you can definitely tell!! The muffin and cheesecake were to die for and my go to is their brownie batter ice cream! We also love how this place gives out treats and whip cream to the pups when we come through the drive through!!

In the summers, I have the pleasure of taking a more leisurely and relaxing way to work which sometimes takes me through Collinsville. I cannot help but stop at Scoops and Grinds. I large latte with an extra shot and one pump of syrup (my favorite) is less than $5! I usually stop between 8 and 9 am and it doesn't seem too busy. I am in and out quick. Muffins, lemon bars and some sandwiches can be picked up as well as GELATO! Scoops and Grinds is located in a remodeled and reclaimed bank building that has lots of charm. Stop by and take the road less traveled.

I got the M&M Cookie Dough ice cream on a cone. I recommend that over regular cookie dough ice cream any day! The Frozen Banana Caramelatte was tasty as well. They have so much to choose from. From ice cream, to smoothies, to shakes, to coffee, to cookies & cake, etc. This is a good place for kids. Especially if a sugar rush is needed. Also, the prices are very reasonable. I didn't expect with so much they had to offer but I'm definitely not complaining.

Thought it was an ice-cream store lol, to my surprise it's a coffee shop. Coffee is good comparable to Starbucks, about the same price

However, I recently visited the drive-thru only location on Garnett and had a disappointing experience with unclear pricing. I ordered the Fall in Love Latte (20 oz) with half the pumps and was surprised when my total came to $8.21. The posted signage lists 20 oz lattes at $5.25, with "extra flavor" for $0.25, so I expected something closer to that price. After speaking with the manager, I learned that this particular drink includes two sauces and one syrup, each priced separately -- and that "half the pumps" doesn't affect the cost. The manager was very kind and even mentioned that she finds the pricing confusing as well. I completely understand that specialty drinks may cost more, but the current signage and specialty menus don't clearly show how those prices are calculated, which makes it difficult for customers to know what to expect. I also reached out to the owner (on 10/23/24) to share my experience and suggestion for clearer pricing but haven't received a reply as of this review (nearly three weeks later). I'll still stop by Evergreen occasionally -- I do enjoy their drinks and atmosphere -- but in the future, I'll make sure to clarify prices before ordering. Hopefully, they'll consider making their pricing a bit more transparent for everyone.

The Crescent Café was not our destination this Monday. We were headed to the Brown Cow Diner. An empty parking lot greeted us, they are closed on Mondays. We turned around had headed back to Highway 75 to implement plan "B." My wife spotted the Crescent Café's open sign on the corner of Rogers Blvd and Osage. Another U-turn, a parking spot was waiting for us just outside the café's door on South Osage. A few steps to the front door, we are in a comfortable booth, menu in hand and drinks on the way. The local fire fighters were already in the restaurant enjoying hearty breakfasts. The café has a big menu with any combination of breakfast or breakfast item you can think of. I ordered my breakfast, 2 eggs sunny side up, bacon and hashbrowns, both crisp with a biscuit and gravy on the side. It took me a while to find it on the menu. It is called Something Lighter, if you can believe that. My wife went with what I call a salad omelet. Fresh spinach, bell pepper, onion, mushroom, tomato and cheese cooked up in three fluffy eggs, perfect hashbrowns and a biscuit and gravy on the side. These were two wonderful breakfasts cooked up exactly as ordered. Wonderful food, fast friendly service, in a clean comfortable restaurant and Fire Fighter Approved!
