Back in Mar 2022, I was on a road trip from Southern Cal to up north through San Francisco, CA, Portland, OR, and Discovery Bay, WA. I swung on by Long Beach, WA on my way back to Portland. As I was walking around the strip of stores, I saw Scoopers... ice cream!, but when I walked in, there were more than ice cream... a whole lot of other goodies. I ended up getting some salt water taffy (tons of different flavors) and of course, a waffle cone with two flavors of ice cream... huckleberry cheesecake and butter pecan. What a delightful combination! Loved every bite! You can't go wrong with ice cream when vacationing. Life is short, eat ice cream! LOL Scoopers look larger inside than it looks from the outside. Staff was very friendly and pleasant. Prices were decent. They have benches outside for you to sit and enjoy your ice cream. I got a chance to do that until it got cold so I walked back to my car and finished off my ice cream overlooking Long Beach... what a joy! Swing on by Scoopers when you're in Long Beach, WA. The ultimate candy and ice cream shop! You can't miss it, with a huge sign up front. As you walk in, you're greeted by the most amazing smell and candy. As you walk towards the back, you hit the ice cream. You pay for whatever you want first then pick your flavors.. and boy do they have choices! The young lady who helped was super nice and served us right away. I went with just a scope of rainbow sherbet and the wife got a sundae. The older lady behind the fudge counter was honestly just horrible to me and my friends. When I inserted my card instad of swiping it she rudely remarked that I needed to "learn how to read" Later that night she was also very impatient with my friend. We gave her the benefit of the doubt, assuming it must have just been an off day for her. We came back the next morning and there was nobody behind the truffle/assorted deserts counter, and only the same lady behind the fudge counter. My friend went up to ask very politely how she would go about buying the truffle she wanted. The lady seemed deeply offended at the question and told my friend she "just has to be patient" in an extremely disrespectful tone. I tried a taste and it tasted like old milk, so I told them at the register and asked to just get 1 scoop of ice cream since the milkshake was no good and they charged me about $5+ for it after paying for a $9 shake that was no good. Huge portions! At first, it will seem expensive but I bet a "single" scoop is nearly a whole pint on a waffle cone. So come ice cream hungry or share like we did! It's fun to look at all the flavors, and the big selection will please a crowd. We didn't spend much time looking around the rest of the shop, but it's a very big space filled with every sort of candy you can think of, drinks and snacks, and some toys--basically a place where parents can end up spending a lot of money on their kids I bet. ;) As other reviewers mentioned already, it is a bit slow on the service. Couldn't believe all the delicious flavors--64 to be exact! The line is crazy long so make sure you got at odd times or bring someone to stand in line for you. The line can sometimes take an hour to get through so be prepared to wait. But the scoops are huge and worth it!! The gentleman who scooped our ice cream was seriously the nicest...he knew it was a crazy line and he was having a tough day with some tough customers who were in front of us. Ever since we began bringing our kids out here 20 years ago, coming to Scoopers for ice cream has been part of the ritual, along with go-carts, arcades, and visits to Marsh's museum. All local ice-creameries and a huge selection of flavors. 1) Yes the lines can be long. 2) Yes it's a little expensive. 3) Yes, black licorice ice cream will give you a surprise the next time you go #2. So if the lines are long, given the high cost, I've done an about face and gone to the grocery store for Haagen-Daaz. Assuming you have your own spoons. Remember with waffle cones, your first flavor is the one you get most of, so make it your fav! Pay first, get a number, go look at the flavors. Recently I spied the caramel popcorn at the front and decided that sounded mighty good - I asked for 1/4lb in a paper bag. The pleasant girl turned ghoulish measuring it out, tossing back individual kernels of popcorn into the bin making sure I didnt get "too much"...getting exactly 1/4 lb. I wouldnt be writing this if the popcorn was good - it was stale as heck, my guess it was 3-4 days old at least if not a week. It was horrible, inedible, and i would have taken it back if I wasnt halfway out of town. As much as I love Cascade Glacier ice cream (Huckleberry Heaven!), it's not worth the long wait in a line that's mostly at a stand still. There are better things to do with your time, like going to the beach, exploring the trails, or going to other ice cream shops. Long line doesn't mean they're the best, it just means they're inefficient. It's frustrating to see staff standing around and chatting with the customers in front while the rest of us have to wait. The other reviewers are right. It's better to go in the early morning to avoid the long wait. But I like my ice cream after a long hike, not before. On the plus side, one scoop is enormous. Very disappointing! We were in Long Beach for our son's 4th birthday. He asked for ice cream instead of cake, so we went in the evening after the beach. It was 9pm, but the line was at least 15 people deep, maybe more. There was only one lady working behind the counter. She was clearly tired and going slowly, which I can understand. It took us 45 minutes to order, than another 15 min to be served (we left just at closing time -10 pm). While I did observe her washing her hands twice, she kept her surgical face mask around her chin the entire time, with both her mouth and nose exposed. When she couldn't hear someone who WAS wearing a mask, she'd lean in even closer and say, "What?!??". At first, I tried to overlook it, but as a registered nurse who has personally taken care of at least one hundred COVID patients, I take hygiene and infection prevention VERY seriously. I was done when I saw her repeatedly go into multiple ice cream cases and breathe all over the ice cream. YUCK! We paid for our two small toys, canceled the ice cream order, and left totally disgusted. No mask, no more money! Not only was it painfully slow, but we will not patronize a business that doesn't enforce their posted "standards" on cleanliness and prevention strategies in regards to COVID-19. We are in Long Beach frequently, and there's definitely equally good places to get ice cream without also contracting a life threatening disease. At least three other parties ahead of me left without anything, and the lady who was in front of us told me in the parking lot that after waiting an hour, she had ordered something with caramel, and got something totally different. read more

OooOooo Ice Cream I am an ice cream fiend! We had to stop in to try out this store while in town scoping out future retirement digs. I was surprised at how large it was - it is not simply an ice cream store. It had tons of candy, fun sodas, and some convenience items. The workers were polite and they were wearing masks during our visit. We picked up some candy for later and I ordered a single scoop cone, which was HUGE. I'm not sure if the scooper was being extra nice to me or if that is the actual size of a single scoop. Either way I appreciated it! This was a candy and sweet shoppe from the dreams of Aphrodite. All kinds of chocolate confections, treats, and ice cream. The fudge I tried was delish, I had the lemon cheesecake and the classic fudge, both were excellent. I also had a waffle cone single scoop of rocky road.... Here's the thing, they have so many flavors of ice cream I wanted to try but I felt under pressure to decide, so I went with my old stand by of rocky road. I wish I had tried one of the weirder more unusual flavors but no regerts right. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the "homemade waffle cone was both not completely done around the edge, AND hard as a rock in the same area.... Great taffy! Very fun selection and soft. The ice cream is delicious. The waffle cones are amazing. Follow the directions on ordering and be ready to wait in line, because they are busy. The customer service was excellent both times we went. We were in line at 9pm and the staff was still polite, patient and had positive vibes even after serving hundreds of people. This place is busy and fabulous. I changed this rating after a second visit. The gal who got our ice cream literally gave me half of what I ordered, but piled it on for my husband's order. What the heck? We paid the same for both. She was cranky the whole time and kept yelling for the line to move... we were trying to look at the flavors.
