I've been a firm believer in the supremacy of Brown's Ice Cream at Cape Neddick since I was old enough to understand the words Ice Cream. However, a new champion (S Maine and the rest of the world) has been crowned, congratulations to Scoop Deck in Wells. Great selection, friendly staff, awesome Ice Cream. It is not homemade as some reviews implied but it is old fashioned lots of cream, light on air. Line gets very long after sunset but move rapidly (15 minuted from standing on the street to ice cream in hand) and is worth every minute of waiting. Important to note, as the sign above the door states, "Old Fashioned Ice Cream, Old Fashioned Payment, cash only" read more

Lemon Meringue, Moose Tracks to plain ole Vanilla. This is the best ice cream. In Maine. No contest. I make it a point to stop whenever I pass by Wells. You should too. read more

Huge selection of ice cream flavors. Their no sample policy is BS. I can understand if I was like I want to sample EVERY flavor but not one? C'mon. Place gets packed, but the parking is fairly big and the lines move. read more

Came here with a friend who recommended it while we were visiting. An adorable place with TONS of ice cream flavors and huge portions. The majority of the ice cream here is regular, not soft serve. The kiddie size is HUGE!!! They also had a backyardish type of area to eat. This is a great ice cream spot and I'd come again and again if I lived close by. read more

Scoop Deck - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Wells, Maine

This was a great experience on our visit to the area, and we already can't wait to go back before heading home! There were so many flavors to choose from, and they had them clearly listed and described so you could easily decide what you wanted before being helped at the counter. Upon arrival, there were 2 long lines out 2 separate doors but the line moved EXTREMELY fast and the service was friendly. read more

Scoop Deck - Definitely a flavor for everyone!! - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Wells, Maine

The Scoop Deck is great, but some of the lines can be pretty long! But it's summer so it makes sense. Another thing is, I just found out a couple days ago, they don't make there own ice cream! Which made me think differently of it! Anyway great ice cream long lines I don't know.... But whenever we stay in Wells, we always go there. That's all! read more

Cash only. Lots of flavors. No almonds for sundaes. Very busy place. Limited seating. I've had better ice cream elsewhere. One scoop was $6.00 the French Canadians next to us were chain smoking while everyone else was trying to eat. Booja booja booja... read more

Scoop Deck - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Wells, Maine

More flavors than any other ice cream joint I have ever been to. Servings are generous and the ice cream is supreme! Excellent all around.

This place is always busy, which is a good sign. There were approximately 10 teenager girls running around scooping ice cream. Service was efficient and friendly. Ice cream was costly at $7.40 for a small sundae, but it was very good. read more

To be honest most times when I have gone to the Scoop Deck it is with my grandparents or a large group and I am treated. No one has ever mentioned anything about it being expensive in fact we normally concentrate on the ENORMOUS portion sizes. Everything here is good. Go with your gut I normally pick my good old favorites of either Peppermint Stick - which is a treat bc they have it all year round when many companies keep it a seasonal thing- or anything else with mint in it. You really can't go wrong here and remember it is always worth the line. After you order you can take your to go cup or cone to the back yard where they have an open small field and picnic tables during the day. If you are in Wells or the area this is a MUST. read more

Just amazing. I come here every single summer, and it has been a very important part of every trip to Maine. My mom has came here since she has been a kid. Keep up the good work, Scoop Deck :) read more

The ice cream was good. In my option not better than Graeter's (Ohio/KY based company). A lot of choices make it extremely hard to narrow it down. We all got a 6 scoop sampler. The portion was huge. For 6 scoops and a waffle cone (to break and eat with the ice cream) was $15.10. It wasn't too crowded when we went on a Monday in late June at 8pm. read more

Get the waffle cone. Its the only one that will hold the generous serving of ice cream.

Delicious ice cream! They have a ton of flavors to choose from and all are great. They have many registers so the line moves quickly. read more

Got the dirty water ice cream in a waffle cone. Loved it. Service was quick and friendly. FYI, the small is HUGE.

Put on about 4 extra pounds last summer and loved it! Need I say more? This year switched to the Frozen Yogurt...three great flavors and didn't worry about the fat and weight gain (at least not as much)....once in a while splurged on a kid-sized Ice Cream, and oh was it yummy!! read more

Lines for days but they moved very fast so don't let that steer you away from this gem. Massive selection of ice cream and yogurt. Probably the tastiest ice cream I have ever had. We will be back for sure! read more

got there at 11:15 right after they opened. Delicious ice cream with some incredible flavor options. had the bubble gum. Yeah, as others have said, the portions are huge! the size illustrations on the board are pretty close to actual size, I would say. No Joke! I wish I had taken advantage of the "deal" and gotten a cone, dog & drink for $6 , or the sampler. I had bubble gum overload, felt it the rest of the day. Cash only, ATM located on the side of the building. read more

The ice cream was melted by the time I got it The ice cream was not flavorful the M&M ice cream barely tasted like M&Ms and the vanilla did not taste like vanilla and cup was to small read more

The smallest kiddie size is an extra large adult size. The mess was bad, there was crying and we just had to throw everything out and couldn't eat it. Please add an actual kiddie size. read more

Lots of flavor choices. My family says it's the best waffle cone they've had. I liked that the offered a sampler of kiddie scoops -- but a warning that the scoops are huge! read more

I just got back from a two week stay in Ogunquit, and I must admit that we visited The Scoop Deck every single day without fail. Thank God I forced myself to run three miles every morning. Yes, it's true that they do not make their own ice cream (it's from a place in New Hampshire called Blake's). But who cares? They chose really amazing ice cream to serve. There are about a gazillion flavors, and the portions are huge (a small is ginormous--if you really want a small cone, order the kiddie size, which is still bigger than a normal small from another place). Some favorite flavors: Fool's Gold, Graham Central Station (kind of tastes like it has Golden Grahams in it, but it's so freaking good), Peppermint Stick, Candy Bar World...I could go on. SO GOOD. They also will pack pints to go. Don't miss it if you're in the area and you're an ice cream head! read more

Absolutely the best ice cream shop around. Fabulous flavors, excellent portions, fast service (don't let the super long lines fool you, it goes real fast). The Scoop Deck is a staple of the area, carloads meet here to get dessert, and socialize - it is the best around. I tried "Graham Central Station" and WOW - excellent flavor! All premium ice creams that satisfy every level of ice cream lover. I have been going to the scoop deck for almost 30 years. This summer we went for ice cream almost every night of our vacation! read more

We've been coming here every Summer for 12 years. Best ice cream on the planet. And always friendly service.

Amazing as always! Nice job reconfiguring for COVID related stuff. I appreciated the take away pints too!

Scoop Deck has good tasting ice cream the problem is the service and unsanitary conditions. While almost all of the people working there are nice they are very painfully slow. Also they need to train their people on sanitary conditions. I witnessed more than one scooper touching their noses and then touching the cones and scooping ice cream. Also some of them are collecting money, then they take a wet towel that is used over and over by the other scoopers, they wipe their hands then scoop the ice cream and touch your cone. The kid that scooped my ice cream picked up the cone with a napkin then took the cone in his bare hand and then put a napkin over the cone and then moved his hand down to the napkin. Also there are two doors with lines, of course I picked the wrong line, the other line served at least 25/30 people that came after me. There were approximately 10 people in front of me and it took almost a half hour before I was served. Like I said the ice cream is very good but there are other ice cream shops in the area whose ice cream is just as good and have employees that take germs and sanitary conditions seriously! Does Maine have a law that if a person is touching your food they need to wear gloves? If not, they really should! If they do, they need to enforce the law! Next time I will choose one of the other ice cream shops. I really wish Scoop Deck would do something's to improve their sanitary conditions and train their people to not be touching their noses and then touching food. What happened to washing your hands with soap and water after touching money and touching your face or anything else dirty and germy!?! I really wish this place did not go down hill! It used to be the best place to get ice cream in Wells. read more

2015 update... I'm happy to say the SD is still here. Furthermore they are still kicking ass, taking names, and serving up the best ice cream in ME. We've been in Wells for a couple weeks and have hit it up a few times so far. I'm loving the Sweet and Salty this year. The servers have been great this summer... No complaints from this guy. Also, we were able to bring our daughters (3yo and 6mo) here for their first trips. Both love it! Our 3yo loves the blueberry with jimmies. That's all for now. read more

Part of our annual stay in the Ogunquit area is nightly ice cream! We headed out to the Scoop Deck one night after mini-golf. Huge crowds but the staff kept the folks moving through and provided service with a smile. Fun souvenir tee shirts and other gear available. Plus the crowds are part of the atmosphere! Lots of benches to sit on and a giant parking lot. I had a kiddie scoop and couldn't finish it: these are very generous portions. In my case, I had Rocky Road which was supposed to be chocolate ice cream with marshmallows and chocolate covered almonds (as described by Scoop Deck's own materials) but it had a sort of off-testing brownie batter type ribbon throughout which sort of ruined it for me. I will go back and try one of their fruit-flavored ice creams. Chocolate Cookie Monster and Muddy Turtle matched the descriptions on the menu and so did the Chocolate! The ice cream had tiny ice crystals in it which is a matter of taste. Some people like that, others don't, and some folks don't notice one way or another because ice cream is yummy and life is too short to complain! Enjoy your stay in Maine! read more

No Banana!!?!?! Whyyyyyy Did you get rid of banana flavored ice cream???? I LOVE this place. Have been coming here for YEARS!!! The servers are generally very nice and everyone leaves with a smile on their face. For people that aren't fans of Banana, don't worry, they have about 100 other flavors!! I would give this place 5 stars, but now that I can't enjoy Banana, I'll deduct a star until they bring it back! It's soooooo hard to find banana ice cream, so I look forward to my Summers in Ogunquit and eating banana ice cream from Scoop Deck. I came here on opening day this year to get my banana ice cream. I am soooo sad. Please bring it back!! Please!!!! I can't be the only person who eats it. And if so, I will buy it by the gallon if need be. I'm so sad. :( read more

The ice cream is fantastic as always. Employees seem to really enjoy their time together but tonight was not balanced. Poor service had me leave without my cone and a very bad attitude from the server, flippant. She had the worst work ethic of a young person that I have seen in a long time. Need supervision with what appear to be new summer employees. read more

I go to Wells Beach every summer and visit to The Scoop Deck is always a must. Okay, you will definitely find me there more then once during my vacation! The ice cream selection there is the most extensive I have ever seen. If you want to try a unique flavor, go for the Gram Station - its a Gram Cracker flavored ice cream with chunks of gram cracker. It is delicious and tastes amazing with some hot fudge. Also, the town of Wells closes down early but the scoop deck is open until 11pm. It makes a great nighttime outing. Definitely check it out:) read more

A vital part of every vacation I've taken to Maine in the last fifteen years... lots of great memories of summer nights spent here looking at the giant flavor board outside and then waiting for what seemed like forever for the massive portion of ice cream that was sure to follow. Great unique flavors, definitely makes up for the fact that it's not homemade. Yes, it gets crowded (especially inside!) and you may have to wait a while for your turn. But the atmosphere is part of what makes it so much fun... has that old-fashioned, summery ice cream shop feel that makes all the difference. And the portions are huge! read more

Great ice cream place! I have been coming here since I was a little kid. I am now thrilled to be bringing my daughter to the scoop deck! There's something about it that makes it different! As an ice cream conasour who travels far for ice cream this is my favorite spot on the east coast. I have been coming here to meet my man Doug, the owner, or as i like to call him "Mr. Scoop" for a large penut butter chocolate ice cream--which is my favorite! Dont miss this attraction if you come to Maine! To avoid lines stop in for a mid-day snack...it is vacation, right?! read more

Ice cream was delicious. So many flavor a not sure how they even manage to keep up! Seems like the kind of place that is usually pretty busy. I was unimpressed by their service, two people interacted with us and both were kind of rude. Also, they'd get another star if they kept up with cleaning their outdoor sitting area (the tables have plastic table cloths on them but they were all pretty dirty, would look nicer without the covers if they weren't going to clean them). read more

amazing ice cream! so many different flavors available! and the place is opened late. the funny thing is that even in september when the weather cools down, there are still lines of people waiting outside at night waiting to order ice cream. this place is a must try! portions are largely sized and there is something for everyone :) read more
