We had the gin and tonic special with local gin (just $10) which was very good, my husband had a very good local IPA, and we shared a burger and the Thai sweet and spicy chicken wings. It's a DIVE BAR, nuff said! Second, THEY control the jukebox so don't cry about not hearing your jam, suck it up. Third, if your expecting exceptional service, hold your breath, the tots are 12 bucks! Fourth, it's an all out locals place and if you're an outsider, expect to be served last. Reasonably priced food in the Big sky resort. The burger was really good, it had nice uniformed thin onions, tomato and fresh lettuce. Fries were hot and fresh. Nachos were huge, but just your typical nachos nothing extraordinary. Overall I enjoyed it enough to go back a second time. Both times service was really good. The streak fries were bomb. And the waitress, Stephanie, was absolutely amazing!! She was so accommodating and worked so hard, literally running the show on her own! And a busy place, too. We went back a few days later to purchase some bourbon (yes, they are the local bottled liquor sales).... And had to try the Huckleberry White Russian.... They had live music playing, everyone was having a good time. The food was great, the drinks were flowing an the staff was very attentive. Really fun stop when you come off the mountain. Stopped here in late March, 2022. Came up for a few days and was excited to try this place out. I heard they have the best burgers on the mountain from our hotel staff at The lodge big sky. When we stopped in, it was 3:20. Food service on Tuesday and Wednesday begins at 4. We were a tad disappointed but we were excited to try some of their unique beverage offerings while we waited. I ordered a spiced cinnamon cider. It was delicious and had a sweet, cinnamon flavor to it (but not too overpowering). My partner ordered a hot buttered rum which was sweet and amazing as well. I'd rate the drinks a 5! When the kitchen opened, I ordered a gaucho burger. It comes with frito lays, but I chose to upgrade to tater tots ($2 upcharge). My partner got the cheeseburger with tots. Sadly, our food sat for about ten mins on the shelf while the server chatted with some patrons for an extended period of time unrelated to service (seemed like sharing about a side gig business). We never heard "order up" from the kitchen or a ding of a bell (standard for letting a server know the meals were ready) but either way, we wish this would have been different. Interestingly they didn't ask how we wanted the burger cooked and I didn't say medium, which is my personal preference and usually the standard for restaurants. The burgers were well done--and a bit over cooked. They were quitE dry. They were not as great as we would have hoped. We had great views. The drinks were decent. The food one okay. The service was eh (dining only) bar was on point. I think if we came back here, We'd definitely stick with Montana Jacks. read more

We are dinner here while staying at the Huntley Lodge and it was an easy and enjoyable place to grab a bite! Definitely has a dive bar vibe but the food was reasonably priced for the area and the cocktails were good and cheap. The regular sized nachos were a giant portion. The pretzel sticks and Caesar salad were very good and overall I was happy with our dinner here! The service was also great and our waiter was very nice. Would definitely recommend if staying at the resort and wanting a more casual dinner. read more

No Happy Hour anymore, but the Saloon does have draft craft beer at regular bar prices (instead of resort bar prices). It's a little out of the way on the resort when compared to the rest of the Big Sky Resort bars and Restaurants, but this is probably why they are using "regular" bare prices...to attract the customer. The ambiance is that of a tropical mid-sized bar/restaurant. Definitely a place that the locals go to...which is a place I always want to go to as well. read more

When we arrived we were the only ones there which always causes concern but I think they were snowed in because our food, drinks and service were great. After stopping in several Big Sky restaurants for lunch with long waits, we ended up at Scissorbills- and we're so glad we did! The space itself is small, and seating is first come, first serve- no real waitlist or anything, so that could be interesting if you come when it's really busy. Luckily we only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Like most places right now, the place was understaffed- but the waitress was incredible! She was attentive, responsive, and positive even though she was managing a lot. The food was FANTASTIC. After drooling over several other table's orders, we selected nachos to share and wow, they were great. Another person in the party ordered a burger and fries, which were also good (especially the fries, in my opinion). TLDR? This place feels exactly how you'd expect a place called "Scissorbills Saloon" to feel. Fairly dark, lots of natural wood, and TVs to watch several different kinds of sports. Pretty small place, and has a great view of Big Sky surrounding it. The servers were great, but unfortunately it seemed like they were understaffed and it took over an hour just to get our food. #hangry Then it almost took another hour or so until we got the check. Not that we don't want to enjoy our lunch, but that's a lot of time we could have been enjoying the mountain or other things around here, rather than waiting in a bar. The only caveat to this is that we came around noon, so if you came at a non-peak time, your experience with this might be significantly different. The food actually did taste very good, although I would have liked there to be more food options. We got the sliders which were awesome, and the nachos were great too (the portions on the nachos are epic!). I personally probably wouldn't come back here, but if you're in the mood for a saloon, bar food, and a good beer/alcohol selection, this might be just what you need. read more

This place should probably be shut down during the day. I get that it's a bar with live music later which sounds fun. However if you go for lunch prepare to be disappointed and basically intermittent fast. We had about 8 people including four children and ordered super simple food like burgers and fries. This place took over two hours to figure that out with about 4 other people in the establishment. If I had to guess I'd say they were probably trying to build an oven from scratch in the back and that's the reason for delay. Nothing else makes plausible sense. Oh yeah and after two hours they substituted the fries with Fritos. I like Fritos but I get the sense someone went to Costco mid order. I'd avoid or just go to drink because you'll want to drink either way. read more

We were looking for a cheap place to eat while staying at the Big Sky resort. Sorry no such thing! This place isn't bad but it's not cheap either. Bacon cheese burger and fries were average. Service was a bit slow but we did have 6 people which is my cut off when judging service. Any more than that in a party and it's a miracle the cook can get all the different orders the same temperature. It's a bar...need I say more. Still probably the most bang for your buck on property. Great spot for lunch. I had the Bahn Mi, which I get at home quite often, and this rendition, which was beautifully spicy, held up to any other I've had. The sesame ginger balsamic dressing on the side salad was great. My wife had a veggie burger with cheese and a side salad. We had two delicious local beers, played a little ping pong at the table in the back, and then left for a lovely afternoon to hang out and enjoy the rest of the conference we were here to attend. UPDATE: Waitress dropped alcohol charges for the wait, changed to 3 stars for service and food was both tasty and hearty. Burger, nachos, and a bowl of soup take 1.75 hours? REALLY sweet waitress, but we watched the cooks in the back take shots together and chat through the door. For 1/3 capacity on a Thursday lunch, we feel the place could use some improvements.
