Just went here for the first time. This is a classic American Diner. We had breakfast. Nothing fancy. Just a classic breakfast. Got their version of the hungry man. Very generous portion. You can train a chimp to flip an egg, but for me the home fries are what makes or breaks a good diner style breakfast. These were excellent. Bonus when you get friendly service. The staff is friendly and the food was fine. Nothing special but did the job. What really bothered us was the kids in the kitchen being on their phones while prepping food pretty unsanitary. We saw an employee come out of the bathroom on their phone and then jump right back into the kitchen. read more

A warm and friendly place! We were sat promptly upon entering the cozy restaurant, which was clean and not too hot/cold. They have a good selection of both breakfast and lunch options at reasonable prices. I ordered the ultimate omelette with home fries and ordered the corn beef hash as a side. The omelette was warm and cheesy. Corned beef hash you can tell is not like the canned stuff you eat at home. Someone was by often to offer refills on coffee. Everyone was super friendly! A great local spot for breakfast! We were in town for our dog who was being seen at Tufts. All of the other customers knew each other. A great vibe. But, the food was amazing. This is a below average breakfast place. I ordered a basic breakfast of eggs and bacon. The eggs were a little undercooked for medium and bacon too soft. Our server was nice but not as attentive when refreshing our coffee. The reason I will not be back however was the fact that the bathroom was small and dirty. In the corner next to the toilet bowl was a toilet snake that was rusted and dirty. I'm usually not put off by dirty places but this was a little too much for me. read more

This is a no frills kinda breakfast spot. Many regulars come every weekend. The staff is extremely friendly. Service is a bit slow which is to be expected from a place like this. The coffee was not bad for a dinner. I'm a sucker for homemade corned beef hash. There's is ok my only gripe is it was a tad on the salty side. Not a place I'd run to. We stopped for breakfast on a summer Sunday morning, when it wasn't crowded. In fact, I counted more employees than customers, at one point. This wasn't reflected in the service, however, which was barely adequate. Our food took a lot longer than it should have and we waited quite a while for the check. We both ordered from the choices of Bennies, mine being the Crab Cake Bennie and his being a special, featuring the usual Florentine Bennie with the addition of a chicken sausage patty. First of all, I have never been served eggs Benedict where the egg yokes were hard cooked. All four of them were the same, so maybe that's just how they do it. A runny yoke is the best part, people! The hollandaise sauce, however, was very good, with a nice texture and wonderful Dijon flavor! I only wish there had been more if it - I like the English muffin to soak it up and have a lovely sogginess by the time I'm finished. This was not the case. It was a fairly stingy amount. The crab cakes were tasty - and I am very picky about my crabbies! His Bennie was missing the chicken sausage patty that made it a special, which was disappointing. Nobody came by to ask if everything was good, so he went without. While we waited (and waited) for the check, I visited the restroom. Being a small, apparently family-run greasy spoon, my expectations were pretty low. But not that low! It was more of a toilet & sink in the janitor's closet deal, with filthy brooms and mops hanging off the wall and cleaning supplies stored haphazardly everywhere. Ewww. Upon exiting the restroom, one is facing a small alcove leading the the kitchen. There were metal shelves, under which was a pile of dirt and debris, as if the floor sweeping ends there on a regular basis. I won't be returning any time soon. Kinda busy little place with alot of takeout orders, meaning it took awhile to receive our sit down order. That was okay though as the coffee was excellent & surprising that each table got an old time cannister of FRESH COLD cream, not warm milk. Eggs were a perfect over easy, the best to mix the yolk into the homefries. Next time I will try the hashbrowns. My bacon was also as good as everything else, I always ask for my bacon a tad soft, just not hard cooked, they did it, YAY. Finally, quite good and happy folks to wait on you, makes me wanna go back .... soon. read more

Good for breakfast, good for brunch, good for lunch! My sister lives in the area and wanted to come here for brunch on New Years day. After staying up all the way til 12:01am, my old self was ready for a filling plate of carbs to fuel for the day. My sister raved about the homemade corned beef hash so I had to try that. Specifically, a large side order. I also got an order of French toast, because c'mon - carbs. The hash was great! A tad on the salty side but with toast or some eggs, it was perfect (might have stolen my boyfriend's toast to verify this )! The French toast was delicious and topped with tons of strawberries. The fruit topping was made of frozen fruits, which was a bummer, but given that it was middle of winter, I cant stay too mad. I'd love to see if they use fresh fruit come summer! I liked this place for a small mom and pop breakfast joint. I'd definitely be down to come back for more of that hash! read more

Came in for breakfast. They were very busy which I would have thought more for their food, but I do not see a lot of inspiration in the food since the eggs were scorched and hard, their potatoes were completely destroyed since they were supposed to be hashbrowns, but instead they were grilled to the point of saw dust and were chopped into such tiny bits that I had never seen potatoes so poorly cooked and delivered to the plate in such bad shape. The eggs were overcooked due to a grill which was set too high. The place is friendly and they have terrific regulars who frequent the place, but even they mentioned how bad the hashbrowns were and how they want to avoid them. Their pricing is similar to other area breakfast spots and the portions were generous but I could not eat everything due to lack of care before it was tossed on the plate. Taking an extra minute to show the care putting into prep and cook for long term growth and consistency should be a lesson here. Giving the cooks a proper explanation on how to cook eggs, meats, and side items like potatoes, should be a priority knowing you've got such strong competition in your neighborhood! Train the cooks to execute based on quality, not slopping everything out where people dont really want the meal or to pay for something unworthy of the price. read more

Had breakfast here this morning, and it wasn't really up to par compared to many other breakfast joints in central Mass. I got the house special which is 2 eggs, 2 bacon and 2 sausage. I ordered the eggs over easy and one was perfect but I watched the girl at the grill leave the second egg on the heat while she chatted with a coworker so there was no runny yolk left in that one. The bacon was dry and the hash browns were probably sitting on the flat top for hours, they were like eating matchsticks. The homemade corned beef hash was delicious. My girlfriend's western was only ok, she showed me the peppers and onions and they were cut WAY too big. The coffee was excellent and all the staff was friendly. read more

The coffee is killer here. Very fresh, very good. It's not a fru fru type of coffee so if you like yours with flowers and whip cream it's not for you. We went on a Sunday around 10 and it was pretty busy, but as we waited a nice blonde woman came over and asked if we'd like coffee while we waited and although it was a bit difficult to juggle the cup while standing it was a nice gesture and it hit the spot. We've been back several times, and I've gotten the Popeye French Toast, straight eggs (scrambled) with dry toast and bacon, and pancakes and each and every time the food is fast and fresh. The Corned Beef Hash which is advertised as a house specialty is fine but it lacks the right amount of seasoning-- so if you like your corned beef has on the bland side you'll be ordering some to go too. Good basic diner! I had an ultimate omelet which had ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, onions, peppers, and cheese W/ home fries and a small side pancake. It was hot, tasty, and about as good as one gets for your basic diner type meal. It was like something you would make at home without the hassle of actually having to do it. It's not anything super gourmet but its simply just a quality regular breakfast. This place is very small, and I imagine on weekends would probably be very crowded, and they only take cash. Came here today for the first time for breakfast. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! The food was better than you'd expect at a diner. I got the Florentine Benedict and..wow. The eggs were perfect, very good Hollandaise sauce, spinach was soooo good and they did not skimp! Even the tomato was great ( I've noticed other places will sometimes use older tomatoes)! Hubby got the 222 special which was $7! 2 eggs, toast, home fries/hash browns (we had both - delicious) 2 bacon, 2 sausage/chicken sausage. He loved his as well. The service....I haven't had such great service in a long time! Not only did they check in after we were served they came by probably 3 times to ask if we wanted more coffee. They cleared the table quickly and we didn't have to wait for the check. Everyone was really nice. And (I'm assuming it was shultzie came out to serve us our meals! read more

Good simple dinner, and anyone that knows me knows that's all I need. Good coffee and food exactly as I expect. The real tell is it was 75% full with regulars on a weekday morning, and they all seemed pretty happy. I had basic eggs, sausage, and homefies, but people next to me had good sized pancakes and hash and eggs. Both looked good, and both plates were empty when they left. Give this place a go. Just to be clear, this review is for the service only. Since we never got to eat anything, we can't honestly review the food Sunday morning, place was busy but not a long line. One other couple in front of us and that was it. Walked in the door and waited. And waited. And waited. All the girls were busy doing their busy work, not a lot of talk, not the kind of noise you like to hear from a friendly diner. They all saw us standing there. Not one employee said Hi or Welcome. Perhaps this is a seat yourself place, but we were the 1st two of a group of 6 coming in. So we wanted to let them know so we could prepare a table properly. After 5-6 minutes of standing there it just felt kind of creepy and unwelcoming. So we went to Breakfast at Stephanies instead. Had to wait 30 minutes but that was okay. They took our cell number and texted us when the tables were ready. They even offered us free coffee while we waited outside. Update June 2017: went back on a hot day, and the whole place was about 80 deg inside and rising. One of the guys working behind the counter was soaked in sweat through his shirt. He ended up cutting his finger while making my son's fruit plate and left blood on our table. We had to ask the waitress to come clean it up, and she didn't really say anything about it. As we were leaving, we looked at the guy's hand, which was now in a clear plastic glove without a bandage, and the glove was all bloody on the inside. We were still charged full price for the food, including the fruit plate that I obviously couldn't feed my son. read more

2 stars bc employees were nice. Otherwise 0 stars for waiting 30 minutes for 2 breakfasts. The wait would've been OK had the food we waited for actually been good! Would have gone to KP's since they always have a good breakfast and even if they're busy it takes about five or 10 minutes but unfortunately they were closed. Yes, granted shultzy's was busy but even at full capacity there are only 6 booths and maybe 8-10 counter seats... still shouldn't take 30 minutes for food that was not that great.Seems to me the young crew working (especially the cook) has little food industry experience... maybe an employee or 2 that's older than early 20's( besides the owner) would help the time and quality of your breakfasts being served...just a suggestion. read more

What a great little breakfast spot! Stopped in for the first time today. Delicious eggs Benny with tomato & spinach. The hollandaise tasted like it was from scratch with just a hint of lemon. Great crispy hash browns too. My husband had the Jas and eggs and was very pleased. Hash is homemade and not too greasy, great flavor. The service was very good. We were greeted upon arrival & taken care of as if we were regulars. The cherry on top was our entire tab was $15! We will absolutely be going back. I took my kids here for a lunch after bell ringing for the Salvation Army. It was our first time and we were excited to try the place after reading so may good reviews. We were not disappointed. It was great. I felt like breakfast for lunch and had the Eastern Omelette with Jack cheese (instead of american), and the hash browns. The omelette was large and perfectly prepared. The hash browns were some of the best I ever had. The serving was large and I walked away stuffed. My older daughter had egg and jack cheese on a bagel, along with hash browns. She was very happy with her food also. My little one had the tuna salad sandwich and home fries. She loved the home fries so much, she only had room for half of her sandwich. She loved the tuna though, and we brought it home. Schultzy's has a friendly and homey feel to it. We were greeted with a smile when we arrived. We will definitely be back. read more
