We moved from Milwaukee to Minneapolis, an emotional and difficult transition for us two old souls. Both of us thought we were settled in Milwaukee, ready to enjoy retirement, but our kids needed us. First time move with Schroeder. I would not recommend them. As another review pointed out - great at the start but not a good ending. Our sales person UNDER estimated our move by 30%!! Not sure how this can happen and the company offered ZERO in a sufficient explanation or resolution -- only "yeah, I missed it". If I would have known the final cost I would have shopped around. This was in the end not possible. Of course - lots of pressure then to pay even though I did not get a reasonable explanation of a 30% miss. Also- the packing methods were suspect and a lot of little damage for even a local move. I am not a happy customer at all. read more

Really top-notch moving company. I've used them twice both times I was moving to or from California. I used them to pick up and unload my items. This last time when I was moving from CA to WI this summer, they did an excellent job coordinating with the unorganized and nontransparent California United Van Lines agent who originally planned my move. Schroeder went out of their way to have my move delivered to me the next day they received it because I had been waiting a month for it to be delivered. Having moved across the country several times, I speak from experience when I say that Schroeder is, by far, the absolute best company I've hired. From first contact, Relocation Consultant Tony Marinello, was very professional and explained every step of the move and provided accurate paperwork. Move Coordinator Muge Smith was very focused on ensuring everything went smoothly; she makes the customer feel they are her top priority and will attend to every detail. The three movers that did all the heavy lifting, Darious Bolden, George Willis, and Mikhail Owens, were not only competent and professional, but they were very courteous and cautious with all of my furniture. Awesome moving experience! For starters, they were basically my ONLY option for a recent move from Madison, WI to Washington, DC. I started calling movers while i was away on a long trip, and found: (i) Two Men was willing to provide an estimate without seeing my stuff, but their price was higher than it would have cost to buy all my belongings brand-new; (ii) all other smaller moving companies said the move was too far, they didn't do more than 100 miles; (iii) the 2 big companies, United (via agent Schroder Moving Systems) and Allied wanted to see my stuff in person. By the time I got back from my trip, Allied could not do the move until several weeks after I needed it to be done. So, fearing that a full-service move might be impossible, I made a tentative reservation with Uhaul, but called Schroeder just in case they could help. They sent someone out to do an estimate that very same day!, gave me a price which was less than HALF of what Two Men had quoted (and only a few hundred more than I would have paid UPack or Uhaul), and by the next day, had confirmed the move for my desired rapidly-approaching dates. My movers at both ends were awesome: friendly, professional, careful, on-time. All my belongings arrived in perfect condition (even a fragile already-damaged glass table), exactly when scheduled, exactly for the quoted price. Do not use. They're great on the front end, but provide zero service once your furniture is delivered. United Van lines driver arrived at our home, most of the boxes were crushed. Refused to do inventory control, allow us to checkoff box numbers as they were delivered. First thing the driver said to us was "I will dispute any claims and blame it on your packing." A few furniture items were damaged. 2 or 3 boxes were missing altogether. The driver all but forced us to sign the release papers, lying to us saying we could always file a claim. Nobody from Schroeder was available on a Saturday to answer questions. Long story short, we never received all of our belongings, Schroeder refused to help because we signed the papers their driver told us to sign. They sent us a $250 check for all the damages and never returned any of our calls or emails. read more

Schroeder was hired for us by a moving service. It was not a good day. They arrived late with the wrong truck (no ramp), the wrong crew (inexperienced), not enough materials and only one useable dolley. This was a local move and it was handled very poorly. Would not recommend! read more

Schroeder Moving in New Berlin and Appleton WI is, in my opinion, an incompetent moving company and I would NOT recommend them for any of your moving needs. For one thing there is no follow through on your specific requests though they want you to believe differently. Further, communication regarding status for every aspect of your move is nonexistent unless you contact them. Mishandling of my items resulted in approximately $8,000-$10,000 worth of damage and missing items. To pay for insurance and be told items on my claim were declined due to my signing of a delivery form on the day I moved in makes no sense. Why have a 30 day claim window and go through the trouble if your delivery form signature makes claim items null and void - one of many facts they don't communicate to you. If you were a fortunate client with no damage or losses and gave them 5 stars, lucky you. However, folks like me have a totally different and negative experience, and one you can avoid by not using them. read more

Overall, Schroeder moved my stuff from California to Wisconsin and did all of that on time. My concerns with the company are because of how they handled damage they did to my items and property. The movers acknowledged doing the damage, so they could not contest most things, though they still gave it their best effort to refuse paying. Now, it took roughly 5 months from damage being done to all repairs being completed (I had 3 repairs). Also, the repair companies informed me that they were instructed to handle the repairs in a cheaper manner than they were comfortable with (but did so because that's all they were authorized to do). This was disappointing, since their staff did the damage, at least return it to the condition it was prior. I do understand companies want to make money and providing cheap solutions is one way to maximize that, but I'll always recommend companies with higher integrity. read more

Do not use Schroeder Moving Systems as your mover. Despite having a full insurance on all items moved, company refuses to refund us for damages and is not returning our calls. Schroeder provided us a moving quote which was about half the actual amount charged, and made multiple billing errors, costing us significant time. Schroeder also demonstrated an utmost lack of customer care by not giving us any heads-up about the fact they missed a delivery deadline. We took a trip to the receiving location (based on a delivery date they had provided us with) and waited there, only to learn the morning off (by calling them) that the delivery truck never left and that it would take another 2 weeks for delivery. Our advice: use another mover. read more
