Always one of our favorite barbecue places to get together with family and friends! The food's good the staff is friendly

Rode to the School House BBQ with the Throttle Down Motorcycle Ministries RC on Saturday. Beautiful Scenic ride to Scranton,SC . The building reminded me of a Nostalgic Old meeting Hall setting. The buffet offered southern comfort food priced at only $10 all you could eat. Clean, friendly environment, and huge parking lot across the street at the closed gas station for additional parking. All Required CDC Protocols were followed. The Schoolhouse BBQ offered Hot Buffet, Salad & Dessert Bar Style food as well as items on a menu such as wings, sandwiches, croissant sandwiches, ice cream, burgers, dogs and a host of side orders. We opted for the buffet. Everything is home made and very tasty. My husband had the fried chicken which was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, Creamy macaroni & cheese, collard greens, green beans, and a sliver of cornbread. I, on the other hand had the southern favorites, Spicy pulled Pork,BBQ chicken, Fried Chicken with lots of brown gravy, the okra soup with chunks of tomatoes and sweet corn kernels over white rice, collard greens with neck bones, green beans with ham, corn bread and corn on the cob. Service: 5 Food Taste: 4.5 Food Presentation:4.5 Decor:5 Prices:5 Customer Service:5 Covid-19 protocols: 5+ For desert there was old country peach cobbler,Oreo cookie pudding, chocolate cake, vanilla cake, German chocolate cake, Carrot cake, and Ice cream. Of course I tried the peach cobbler, banana pudding, and the oreo cookie pudding in one bowl. All 3 were delicious. The food was Good well seasoned, well cooked (nothing was sitting so it wasn't dry or burned), no frills, and nostalgic almost like eating at grandma's house after church on Sunday. All staff wore gloves, masked and social distanced. Our seating arrangement was a great distance from other tables and diners. We felt safe which was refreshing considering what's going on all around us. It was a great escape from reality.

If you go in the front door there are a few steps to climb. If you need flat entrances they are around back. The host took us to our seats and explained the buffet to us. It is only a buffet place. But you can order a take out as well. There were two tables of food and a dessert table. The salad bar seemed to never end. Everything was cut fresh with no limp vegetables or lettuce. Marilyn brought me coffee and Bev Tea. It was plenty hot and fresh. I absolutely love their coffee. I had two cups before I even finished my plate of food. Marilyn was very attentive to each table and came to ours often. After I finished my salad. I saw Carie filling a plate for someone. When she was done I asked her if she could get me a chicken breast. My joint pain and back pain had been extreme this week. Using the walker was even painful. Carie said, "Absolutely !" She returned quickly and with a smile. The staff is so kind. The manager Tommy came by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal. I let him know the salad bar was perfect. The chicken I enjoyed was tender and juicy. I also noticed the teamwork between the staff was easy and natural like a choreographed dance. Bev and I plan to return for the Easter Sunday Meal. Check this pace out and tell them Willie and Bev sent you. Ms. Willie Conway.

We stopped at Captain George's Seafood Restaurant and it ended up being a great experience…read more It's about $50 for an all-you-can-eat buffet, which I'm usually hesitant about because I don't always eat enough to make it worth it--but this is a seafood buffet with crab legs (my favorite), so we decided to go for it. And it did not disappoint. The crab legs were the highlight--always stocked, served warm, and cooked really well. I tried a few other items that were just okay, nothing super standout, but for a buffet the quality of the crab legs alone made it worth it. We waited about 20 minutes in line to be seated, which wasn't bad, but just a heads up--there wasn't really anywhere to sit while waiting, so that could be a bit tough for anyone who needs accommodations. The desserts were also pretty good, and the place itself is huge. I loved the design details--everything has a nautical/boat theme, even the buffet stations and tables, which made it feel unique compared to other buffets. Service was great. We just had water, but staff constantly came around refilling drinks, clearing plates, and taking away crab leg shells, which made the whole experience smooth. Overall, we left full and very happy--definitely worth it if you're a crab leg fan!

Really really big place. I couldn't even guess how many people fit in this restaurant…read more The countertop loaded with every kind of seafood prepared every possible way is 40 feet long. The staff was very friendly, the service was good...I had takeout but the restaurant is a buffet inside. It clearly is a place the locals enjoy and it is an easy stop if you are on the way to the beach. All in all, my favorite was actually the hot dog. The chili was excellent and the slaw had just a touch of sweetness. The BBQ was well prepared, just not my favorite style or taste profile...a bit too much twang. I would recommend Shuler's if you are in the area and look forward to trying other items the next time I return.

The place is a large wooden building that resembles something that would have been built in the 1870's. There are a few bench's and chairs on the front porch to relax in after eating or if you need to wait for a table. They have a general store with some interesting items as well. Schuler's is a buffet style barbecue and all you can eat. Their pulled pork is their best meat. I wasn't really impressed with their ribs though. Don't get me wrong, the were pretty good but I certainly wasn't blown away. Their fried chicken is good but again not much different from most buffets in South Carolina. Their collards are nice and they do offer hash. If you're thinking corn beef hash, it's not that. It's a BBQ or liver hash and it's definitely an acquired taste. I usually put it over rice if I get it. Hash was highly popular in South Carolina for many years. It can't hurt to try it as Schuler's is actually pretty good. Not my favorite barbecue in the area but it's cool place with great people.

I gave it only a four because again I hate seafood. So here is the deal walked in and young lady opened the door and was pleasant as could be, the hostess seating us funny and awesome and our waitress was the bomb (if people still say that) she never missed a beat. Side note the entire staff was on their game I saw three spills/drops and it took all of 5 seconds to have a staff member stop and get it cleaned up WOW. I watched them bias tables around us and they didn't clean them once they cleaned them TWICE - seriously who does that!!!! By the way the place has pretty cool decor and was clean. Now the food since it was our 35th I decided to go with the flow and try all the seafood (except scallops I draw a line) and well folks I'm not sure what it is supposed to taste like but I wasn't spitting it out (usually the case with seafood) I LIKED IT!!! Like Mikey I Really Liked it!!! (Again I hate seafood) so while I'll not comment on its finer points I'll just repeat I liked it, heck even and especially the peanut butter pie for desert. Can't eat them everyday, but trust, they were crunchy deliciousness in a bag! My meal of BBQ ribs, mac & cheese, cabbage, chicken bawg and hush puppies was soo good!
