I had a scheduled volunteer day and time and woke up on time to go and i texted POC to confirm and they told me that the other volunteer wouldn't be in (if i didnt confirm with a text i probably would have shown up without notice) and i reached out to schedule another day and received no word. I would say i am fairly patient and understanding person with rescues because they are so busy but i would recommend for this rescue to have a dedicated staff member to help volunteers and have a calendar put together and just be better organized. I unfortunately wont be volunteering here anymore. They are doing good work but im bummed because i did want to volunteer here but as a person that values organization it just didnt fit.

There's probably reason that they didn't pick you. A lot of pet need special care or particular family and can't go with just anyone. (Example, some pets are not good with kids). Remember this is a rescue and not a breeder. If they try so hard to save an animal, they don't want the chance for the pets to be returned/dumped if the family find out it's not a good fit. I understand people might not be happy since they are not qualified but didn't need to leave a bad review just for that...after all we all love animals and just want them to find a good home to live happily ever after. We adopted two cuties today, they are a bonded pair, so rescue really want them to go as a pair. Most people only applied adoption for 1 cat, so we got selected. The rescue does everything in animal best interest, and thank you for giving us a chance and two beautiful kittens.

Everything is donated and appears to be fast fashion-think SHEIN and lots of polyester, everything goes to charity so there's that I suppose. The workers are entirely volunteer based which makes for a poor system, resulting in the service being almost too attentive with the staff immediately asking what you're looking for and approaching you the minute you pull something off to get a closer look. For example I had to remove some dresses to even be able to look at the dresses but one of the volunteers asks if I wanted her to hold them but then stood there waiting for me to be done which felt uncomfortable to say the least. Because everyone's a volunteer they're bored and try to be "too helpful" in that you can't look in peace and feel constantly watched. In addition the racks were packed way too tight, making it almost impossible to look at the clothes individually. Hard pass for me thank you.

I was blown away by the quality of the available merchandise, especially the housewares and decor. It's very evident that all of the pieces on sale were meticulously cleaned and staged by the hardworking staff. All of the furniture and housewares are excellent condition, not to mention very well priced. Make a point to visit before Halloween! The store is all decked out with Halloween decor! The Bargain Box is managed by the Assistance League of Arcadia, and one of their worthy endeavors is Operation School Bell, which provides much needed clothing as well as school supplies such as backpacks and books to children in need in neighboring local schools. There's a small parking lot but there should be plenty of street parking available if needed. Also, be aware that the store has limited hours since it's managed by volunteers. It's only open two days a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm.

My kids and I have volunteered for many years at this food bank. It is a lifeline for so many…read morepeople in need in our community. It's incredible how much food they distribute and how many families they help. I see on their social media how they give holiday gifts to children in need, help with back to school supplies and vouchers, dental cleanings, vet clinics, mobile showers and so much more. Manyof the people who work here are volunteers, and even the paid staff don't earn much - I know of some who have been past clients wanting to give back. I have seen the faces of gratitude of some of the clients who come here for help. Whenever I come here I have a renewed sense of faith in human kindness and generosity, seeing the impact this organization has and the generosity of so many volunteers and donors, trying to help those who need it most. I'm sad reading some of the negative reviews. I also imagine people are quicker to complain on yelp even for free services than to show their appreciation. I also understand it must be truly frustrating for people who are hungry and/or struggling to survive to have patience when things don't go smoothly as life is already so difficult to bear, I'm so sorry for what you are dealing with. But I truly believe that the people working at Foothill Unity are doing their best within the constraints or limited resources they have and that they are also dealing with tough and stressful situations all day. I think it is unrealistic to expect a charity that is dependent on volunteers and has limited resources to be a well-oiled machine. In my interactions with those who work there, I believe they are doing the best they can, and I am inspired by all the amazing things they do.

Since we made about 90 kits, she figured it would be best for us to deliver them to an organization that assists those in need, and she found Foothill Unity Center. Foothill Unity Center is a multi-service agency that provides services to individuals and families in need. Founded in 1980 by Josephine Anderson, the center has become a source for food, health services, and crisis assistance to thousands of low-income families in the SGV. The place is clean and spacious and the staff were friendly and gracious for our donation. It felt nice to do something good for others and give back to the community. The security guard on duty was an absolute doll - polite, friendly, and respectful. He made our day as much as we made his. I love this school for my kids…read more My two- and four-year-old enrolled kids have been enrolled each for about a year now and have learned a lot and have a schedule thanks to Happy Campers. I would struggle with implementing nap time when they were home with me. Something about being with other kids who all need to take a nap and know the schedule really helped my kids. I follow the school schedule even on weekends. It is a Montessori based school and they accept Options for Learning payments. There are a lot of Asian teachers and students enrolled. They even encourage me to start potty training my daughter. Their knowledge and belief that she is capable and ready makes me more confident to get started. Also, I have spoken to the parents of several kids who graduated onto first grade from the school, and they have each said their kid is at the top of their class and ahead.
